if you don't try to block or parry lows you're just giving your opponent free damage. characters like master raven can basically win a round off 6 or 7 lows. so you're gonna have to block or parry them at some point. block if you suspect a low is coming in neutral, parry if you think you know exactly when it's coming, like in a string. if i see a mishima start a hellsweep with a jump, he's getting parried.

I just updated SFV so that all of Chun Li's attacks do 10 damage, are unsafe on hit, have hurtboxes that extend beyond their hitboxes, and don't build meter.

Characters in fighting games are more than just the moves they have. Those moves are actually hitboxes with measurable and programmable properties which, when compared to the hitboxes of other characters moves, determine whether or not they have the tools to reliably beat those other characters. Adding and removing moves does not do anywhere near as much as changing the properties of these moves, which is why balance changes drastically across versions of the same games without making any changes at all to characters' move pools.

Put it simply, the game wants you to play in a certain way, because there are no other options. Games like GG have way too many options, which desu makes me dizzy, but SFV is like the polar opposite. You can only do X or Y, sometimes Z, that's it.
-Offense is very limited. Medium medium, shimmy, throw. Only cancel is the once per round (sometimes twice) VT.
-Defense is very limited. Block, block, tech, v-reversal. That's all you can do.
-Playstyles are very limited. If you aren't rushing down, you are missing out.
-Characters are very limited. Very few have features or resources that truly set them apart from others.
-Features are very limited. It's almost a year later, the game still looks like a beta.
Basically, you can't be creative in this game. You cannot. You are looking for some innovative tech that sets you apart from others? How about some odd playstyle, a defensive Ken? Nope. You are just gimping yourself trying to do things that don't exist.
