See, there's the problem. With the Boom designs it's clear that the creators wanted to deviate heavily from the game designs at first, but were forced to reel it in by SEGA. That left us with what was essentially the game designs with superfluous tweaks that made them mostly worse off (save Knuckles, whose silhouette got a complete overhaul as well).

We'd be talking about a couple of years until Boom finishes airing in Japan if we take into account that Boom still has no air date and that there are two seasons to air. I doubt they would just sit on their asses in all that time and not do something else with it. It's a lot of exposure time on money already spent and a long time to reconsider.

Every time I see anything to do with sonic I'm reminded of Chris Chan. This is both funny and frustrating.

Alright, so I've never been a massive sonic fan, but I haven't been living under a rock either, I'm aware in general of which games in the series are good and which aren't. I picked up sonic CD on a whim and it's the first sonic game I actually sat down and finished, and I think I finally get the appeal of the series, I picked up generations and got through most of that, planning to finish it today, but if I want to get into the series where to next? Should I pick up the trilogy by buying the mega drive collection because I'm pretty sure that includes spinball and the first three sonic games.

The Genesis games are a go to. Play them as soon as you can.

Many people enjoy the Adventure games, but I think you can't really understand it's full appeal unless nostalgia is involved. I never could.

Unleashed has some of the best stages in the series, during the day. Nighttime is boring and dull. You can get most, but not all, of the day stages as part of a generations mod.

All stars racing transformed, though not a Sonic game in itself, is one of the best racing games ever made in my opinion.

Definitely play the first 3 games. Sonic 1 & 2 have remasters like Sonic CD does, but they are only on iOS and Android. But playing the emulated/mega drive collection is fine.

After that, it mostly up to you on how to approach the 3D games. I'd recommend giving the Adventure titles and Heroes a shot. They play quite differently from Generations, though.

Sonic Unleashed (Daytime sections) and Colors play more similar to Generations with them including the boost style gameplay.

Also, look into the Advance games and Rush games, they are 2D games for GBA/DS.

I'll go buy the megadrive collection today then. I think I'll opt out of adventure 1, because from what I've heard, if you don't have the nostalgia for it and you can't tolerate the flaws you can't really enjoy it.
I think I'll pass on the android remakes too. From what I've played of the 3D sections of generations, I'm not too fond of the way the levels are set out, but I think it's in the psn sales so if it's cheap I'll pick hero's up.

I wouldn't advise that. The PS2 version of Heroes is horrid and I doubt they fixed it for re-release. You'd be better off emulating the Gamecube version or even pirating the PC version.

Alright, I've never read a comic in my life, and I know there are loads of sonic comics, but are they any good? I've passed copies of them in shops like forbidden planet and I've seen lots of panels used as reaction images. I don't really know how comics work in terms of which I should buy so, yeah any advice on that? Yes, I kind of lost interest in the game when he popped up.

He's redundant with Sonic Mania coming out and it only serves to further the 'Generations 2' link, despite them saying it would be a 'completely new game'.
