Done with 5D. Overall, I enjoyed it, despite having to completely restart once due to being too weak. The exploration was nice and the dialogue between the characters were sound. Gal Monster catching and using was great, probably the inspiration for GalZoo Island.

Final score isn't as good, but that's cause I did more exploration, even the final level when I could have just burned all the EV Panels to rush there, or cheese everything with a Kamikaze.

Overall, I don't think it's as random as people make it out to be, as speccing Sill as a Priest early makes everything easier. There's also careful of where to place your attacks, using the reload to reallocate everything if you got a bad hand.

Kurupistons were fun, but sadly I didn't managed to get all of them. Onto VI now.

Her role in Quest was particularly disappointing. Not even talking about lack of events, that's a common problem with returning characters in the game, but she has practically nothing unique in her skill-set.
Crook and Maris are total beasts, so they're on their own level. But Nor starts with loads of skill slots, and the Full Party Protection learned. Frostvine has... Weakness Search, I suppose, and more skill slots.

For having been the primary healer of the series for several games, I really hoped she'd have more going on.

One problem is that Quest's style really doesn't work well for active healers. It's much better to invest in Post-Battle Recovery and Full Party Protection most of the time. You want fights to end fast without consuming many actions, so off-healing is best.

Currently at chapter 4, I could say I feel the same as you said. The story is fun, the gameplay isn't as random as people complained. The only thing I don't like much is Rance being completely douche the entire game (or at least at my current point).
I'm glad that Rance becomes much better character in newer titles. Hope 05 changes it like 03 reckoned some scenes in the original.

Fixed botched Rose's name. Changed betabeta stones to rarerare stones, Anise to Annis and Nos to Noce.

As for the 5D fix I'm afraid there is nothing that I could with Sys3 decompiler that is publicly available at TLWiki. I tried deleting certain characters like star marks and arrows that are being corrupted after recompiling but some empty lines are still causing this text corruption so it doesn't solve the problem completely.

I seem to be stuck in Rance 5D. I'm at the start of chapter 4, steal stuff from Rizna's box of stuff, make the Youkai love me and get the H-scene, then try going from the place with the guards to the faceless youkai back to the place with the guards and then to the well, but nothing happens. I've used like half of chapter 4's time bar trying this and I'm still not getting her in the well. Am I missing something here? I have the well key, so it's not like I'm missing that as a key item.
