If you get a Forbidden Lance in your hand instead of something that is useful all times (like a Moon Mirror Shield, a pot of Desires, a pot of duality, a card of demise etc.) you've already lost. I've only seen one Barrier Statue deck using Forbidden Lance. Only one in both TCG and OCG.

None of those decks can even beat themselves. Like everything else in the game right now, it's 'whoever goes first wins', followed by 'whoever is more consistent wins'. Of course, Zodiacs are the most consistent thing by a longshot. Noids are the exception because they're sacky memeshit that gets so much raw advantage from Lawnmowing it can actually keep up, and that's the only reason it's played.

Magicians right now are gimped because lack of Iris fucked their consistency. Duelist Advent will fix that consistency and promote turn 1 Spacetime degeneracy, and the R A T is going to get smacked with the hammer not long after that. Unless Code of Duelist is REALLY FUCKING GOOD, Magicians will likely take over for a while.

I'll gladly accept a time of Magicians lying low until they reach their full power and fill in the power gap left over by next banlist.
