I feel like the issue with synchro is the massive balancing issues the mechanic has.
Fusion is balanced with all the minus you initially had to go with Poly until they fixed archetypes and support to float into other cards so you don't lose in the advantage game.
Xyz is balanced since most of them turn into vanillas without their xyz materials.
Pendulum is a -2 and you can easily brick with the incorrect scales or lose to all the floodgates to it.
Synchro has the issue of reliance on tuners and addition to the correct values and when they tried to fix it with tuners which summon another monster, synchro decks just ended up in long combo streaks for stupid boards. It got so bad, Maxx "C" was created to discourage the spamming.
