A (Ryuusoul): In all seriousness, though, for me, it was probably the H-scenes. Being a translator who got interested in Tsukihime despite the H-scenes (instead of because of them), it was kind of a trial going through them. That, and maybe the Nasu grammar (tm). Nasu's writing style is very interesting... you can find web sites in Japanese with sections dedicated to helping people understand just what the heck he was trying to say. His choice in kanji (the Chinese characters used in Japanese) was often very... creative.

From an overall project standpoint, it was probably making sure that everyone was motivated at the same time and working in the same direction. Even I originally quit the project after translation was finished, thinking that it was well on it's way to completion. I later came back when I noticed progress was a little stalled during the six months I was away. Of course, a lot of this was due to the fact that we had so many people working on the project, it was going in too many directions. After clearing our kitchen of too many cooks, we set up a head chef and went out from there. I hope you all enjoy the taste.

A (Ryuusoul): That's intentional. Tsukihime is essentially a stream-of-consciousness work
and as a result, the commas are used to purposely disrupt the flow of reading in instances
where Shiki's mind either pauses or when people literally pause while speaking. I'm not going
to go into too much detail on the difference between ellipses and commas, but suffice it to
say that we (I) felt there is a distinct difference in how they feel, so I preserved their
use from the original.

Interesting to see some possible Fate inspiration slipping into 11eyes, probably the closest it's come to feeling like Fate despite me seeing it compared to it a few times.

11eyes actually has felt a lot more polished, maybe because it doesn't really have individual routes but just one very long common route with some short branching. I wish more games would do this but it seems to upset readers when their girl doesn't get a route.

I'm on the last day so I'll post full thoughts on it when I'm done.

It's a lot duller in general to have longer common routes but less diverse heroine routes. Although 11eyes circumvents some of this by having the alternate perspectives, having the plot barely change means you get to see less of the world overall.
For example, the way Muv-Luv does the routes in Unlimited is pretty shitty, Even Alternative would have been better if things like the coup were contained to a Meiya route instead of being part of the whole story.

There are a few VNs like that though, plus the general kinetic VNs. But if there's no big branching the story is usually better told in another medium, such as manga or as an LN.

A lot of the times multiple routes are lack luster as fuck, though. Like in Rewrite, Fate, and most other similar games. 11eyes gets rid of all that junk and focuses on telling mostly one story. Instead of having to focus on multiple stories the staff was able to focus on a single one.

So now that I'm mostly finished with 11eyes, just finishing the Misuzu branch, here are some thoughts:

11eyes is very well produced, which should be a given since there was a 4 year gap or so between this and the release of 3days. Lots of battle CGs, regular CGs, fair number of HCGs. Every scene that should have a CG has one basically. Not like Rewrite where most important scenes are just you looking at a blank background (sasuga Key)

The Cross Vision system is very cool, allows you to see scenes from different perspectives and new scenes altogether. This is good for when you're stuck with a boring slice of life scene with Yuka and want a break from her boring ass.

They also developed the single other male main character a fair bit, even giving him a love interest.

Also, the anime is basically COMPLETELY different and yet spoiled some pretty big things for me. The way battles end, the way the Black Knights are characterized are nothing alike. Kukuri also gets more focus, which makes sense and I don't really get why she got so shafted.

Shiori essentially only gets into the action at the very end of the game with only some minor hints at her actions before then. So you probably shouldn't play it for her or you'll be waiting A LOT. She's a minor character

Only complaint with the ending I got was that it was maybe a bit too happy considering the tone and atmosphere of the game could change with the other ending/s.

It's not all that great, but at the time it was pretty amazing. Many visual novelists cite it as the inspiration that got them to get started in the field.

Even Nasu admits though that the story and pacing are all over the place. That's why they're working on a remake.

There's one scene in the Crossvision scenarios that makes some direct references to 3days, directly referencing one of the main characters and some of the magical items that appear in the game. It also references the names of other Thule members that appear in 11eyes Crossover or 11eyes Resona Forma.
I think they were planning to do a bit more because there's an entire year (2004) on the grid without any scenes.

I can agree generally, but this really depends. What normally makes a true route good is the buildup and knowledge you gain from the other routes. It makes it much more impactful when you see everything tie together, such as in Ever17 or Steins;Gate.
I suppose a bit of a middleground would be what Steins;Gate, G-Senjou, Eustia, etc do, where the heroine routes branch of at different points in the plot. It gives people their what-if scenarios but also makes the main narrative easy to follow.

I really disagree with this. While Fate is a weak route, UBW and HF are both quite good, and the reason both of those are better than Fate is because they build upon what came before, especially HF.

I'd rather just have them all in one instead of reading like a 5 hour route and then getting an info dump at the last minute. It's hardly satisfying unless it's done in a way that makes sense, like Yu-no or time loop games.

Also, I thought HF was a drag for the most part. I liked Fate, as it was the firs thing you read and you don't have to re-read scenes or cover the same ground with info dumps.

Majikoi was comfy. It set an atmosphere and had attention to detail that made me attached to the characters and setting.
Princess Evangile was engaging. Despite the numerous shenanigans it had a way of telling the story that made it a good, not great, read.
My first impression of Ikikoi is that it's just fucking FUN. Makes no sense and will probably jump around too much to make sense plotwise, but I can't get rid of this wide grin on my face, nor do I want to.

Please tell me that that is the kind of ride I'm in for, because I don't want it to stop. The setting is not as good as Majikoi and the storytelling is not as good as PE, but regardless of that I am thoroughly enjoying myself because of how well it pulls off making utter nonsense seem like a good time.

Man, 11eyes ending was such a letdown. Literal deus-ex machina. Everything was so bloody good leading into the conclusion of that final fight with Liselotte, and Kukuri seemingly exhausting the entirety of her soul was hype as fuck. The sudden 'betrayal' that I thought was the true^TM final antagonist coming forward by puppeteering Kukuri's empty shell, ostensibly Michael and/or the will of the collected fragments themselves, turned out instead to be literally nothing. Disappointing.

Still loved the darker than usual tone that the VN took on, especially as the game drew to a close - yet it managed to balance it enough to never actually became outright 'edgy'. Pretty good, all things considered.

Yuka was beyond shit until she went yandere, mostly because she was a super blando heroine who can be summated in two words 'loves Kakeru'. At the same time, I can kind of see why she's a doormat protagonist - the 7 of them were supposed to represent Liselotte's 7 deadly sins afer all.
