I call it bomber conservation, its basically a plan of attack that prioritizes saving as many bombers as possible for the long run. This is specially good during standard battle. Also divebomb first before torping so you damage their AA when you go for 2nd wave.

its definitely a gamble, some enemy BBs get tunnel vision. its better to miss your torps than lose planes specially on tier 5-6. Last thing a BB flooding from a 1 torp hit from a cv who has no repairs, is get lit on fire.
