Captain I use BFT, EM, SI, AFT, and CE since it's actually my New Orleans captain.

You can swap out DE with AFT if you want for extra fires but I've found range to be better for pestering retreating ships.

I'm currently playing the Graf Spee and she's pretty good. She's like the Inverse of Scharnhorst - a CA with BB gun. Pretty fun and not as bad as everyone makes her out to be. The 6 guns are pretty accurate and are quite nice with their traverse and shell velocity. Armor is not nearly as bad as Nürnberg. The only downside to her is her fairly low speed which can be somewhat offset with speedflags.

Yea, in the Graf Spee I'm able to punch Bayerns and New Mexicos reliably. It's really fun to surprise them with your guns. The 16km range on her is also really good, you can reliably snipe at ~13km and lay the smack on CAs and BBs.

But this is fucking wrong. Battlecruisers, as invented by the British, is a Cruiser (the first class of BC's started as Armored Cruisers) built with Battleship guns and approximately on battleship scale to allow at-sea endurance. It is *not* a battleship with the armor removed. They sound the same, but the impetuous is very different. The Scharn is 100% the opposite of a BC as it was designed as a battleship, with battleship armor and battleship guns, then DOWN gunned to add speed. If you want the logical conclusion/ultimate BC idea its the Graf Spee as it's very much a cruiser that just happens to have a battleship's guns bolted to it. But the divisions between ship types are not based on armor values or gun sizes, it's based on rolls. A Battleship is a ship designed to fight the enemy's capital ships and overwhelm them with guns and absorb damage with armor. A BC is designed to be fast enough to chase down enemy cruisers and commerce, and outrun enemy battleships, and have guns capable of totally outclassing the ships it's designed to fight.

Battlecruisers in general were a flawed concept, Anglo or not, which is why by WWII, there were only a few Battle cruisers in service in the world, and none were built and the few that remained were almost all sunk by 1943 (Hood, 2 of the Kongo's, Repulse). Only the Renown and the Haruna, sorta, survived the war. It was a bad idea because it's original idea came before UBoats were thought of as a real weapon of war, and MOST of the aspects that the BC concept was designed to fill, Subs do better (and cheaper), and as such, when subs came about, BC's increasingly became used as Battleships, and we all know how that worked out. Battlecruisers are one of the most flawed ship concepts ever, as they brought little to the table, were as costly as better armed and armored battleships, and eventually were no faster, their key ability, then the Fast Battleships that didnt have as many trade offs.
