I struggle with emotions in game. Instead of flaming my team I flame myself. Whenever I lose I act like I'm not improving and it's all my fault, I'm shit etc. and when I win I feel like I did something well.

I don't know what's feeding these emotions but after losing 3 ranked games in a row I just want it to stop. This has crushed my chances at getting to Gold for 2 seasons now.

I need some help to know how to just remain level headed in game and think rationally.

first thing you need to realize is that the outcome of the laning phase / game does not matter - the only thing that matters is how hard you try to do as well as possible
if you do good in lane / game, this means you are doing something well
if you do bad in lane / game, this means you are doing something wrong
in both cases you have to identify what it is and try to think what to do to to maximize good moves while minimizing bad moves, and THEN apply it to next games
as long as you improve, the outcome of the game matters not - because if you are truly improving, you will win more often in the future than you are losing now
put on comfy music (or ambient noise, i'd recommend asoftmurmur dot com), mute noisy players and play, you will climb in no time and save yourself from insanity

Why do tanks get played top, and mages mid? The only reasons I can think of are:

Tanks have some inherit sustain to keep them tanky, and Top is a very very long lane. Meanwhile they have peel in the form of CC usually, to escape a gank from river.

Mages are very squishy, and need the short midlane to remain safe. This is also why Assassins thrive mid even if tanks were removed from the equation. Plus a mage can roam bot from mid lane for the quicker kills easier, though they do struggle the most with Dragon kills due to its high MR/HP and their lack of sustainable damage (the jungler + ADC thus, are responsible for controlling it if the team doesnt coordinate for it.)
