So did S2 change anything about how you guys are playing the game?

I started out the game playing Bison, Vega and Mika because RIP Gief, Bison felt badass and I'd been waiting for Mika and have always loved Vega. Didn't play much at all and decided to jump back in for S2. Now that Mika is dead I'm coming back to Bison and seeing what that 3 frame jab brings to the table. I've found I like more of a pokey playstyle though so I'm experimenting with Vega again and Urien some too since they both also got buffed. Urien play has been going well so far shitting on all the Akumas I've seen.

So far game doesn't feel drastically different but I'm looking forward to fighting more DP characters and seeing how much the matchups change.

How do you guys feel about nerf balancing anyway? I didn't feel like SFV was that unbalanced in the first place and I'd much rather everyone have great tools than take everything fun away from every character.

The way I see it is it really does nobody any good. You upset people who mained the nerfed characters and everybody just shifts over to the new group of good ones. So you're not solving problems rather you're creating new ones and swapping them out for the old ones.

Chun-Li is really the only character in the game that maybe needed a slight nerf. Everyone else could have just been buffed up to her level in various ways.

But I know some people hate that continuous buff mindset as well. Just wondering how you guys feel and your reasoning.

A few basic tips on how the game differs from SF.
1: You can convert off almost any hit, you don't need a flashy confirm into max damage, but it's easy to get a bit more damage, knockdown or just time to do a slow special from stray hits.
2: Don't let people to throw range for free, if you are the aggressor, don't let them out of blockstun unless you're baiting the throw with something throw immune when you are at a throw range.
3: Air is your friend, backwards airdash is the fastest way to gain distance and FDing in air (chickenblocking) let's you ignore high low mixups.
4: Don't get discouraged if something feels oppressive, there is usually multiple ways to deal with something and either ask for help or figure it out yourself.

I try out pretty much everything but 3D fighters. I loved the GG series as a kid but I fell of Xrd pretty quickly. Loved Calamity Trigger and played the shit out of it but never came back. Loved Skullgirls but that never even lived. Loved MvC2 but MvC3 was shit. Netherrealm games never last for me.

The only other thing I'm interested in is Killer Instinct and I'm REALLY interested in it. I fucking loved the character design and everything I see but I won't buy a Bone and fuck all that Windows Store shit.

No it didn't. Year 1 at EVO almost half of the entrants were no shows because people only entered for the free shirt. Year 2 the entrants dropped off super hard and was one of the smallest games that year. It didn't get any better. Majors were super small every year, the biggest majors scratched 90 or so players but for the most part they were between 20-40.

A lot of people had a lot to complain about in XIII, it was a heavily criticized game for basically its entire life. And now that XIV is out all of a sudden everyone loves XIII and put on their rose tinted glasses and revisionist history telling stories that never happened.
