Street Fighter was my choice specifically because people said its less combo based and per hit damage is higher so I could start off by simply fishing for hits and not need to worry about execution so much. I struggle to even do a DP.

I think the main thing is I respect my enemies because they're pretty much always better than me, but I can't force them to respect me. I did with one guy by just punishing his jump spam, but everyone else still playing the game seem to adjust instantly to anything I do

Focus dashing into fireballs actually sounds really smart. Imma try that thanks. I've been mainly just using st. HP and cr. hk, prolly not enough light moves, since it just feels easier to putspace them then to try to contend up close, even if that's the point of dudley

Most likely. Outside of the confusing story it has an arcade mode, score attack, time trial and a mode where you grind character stats so you can fight powered up versions of characters. Challenge mode is actually useful for learning characters too.
