Here is THE most efficient way to level.

Craft expericast blizzard with your debased items. The more you use the higher the exp bonus level. Craft as many as possible.

Equip any Moogle Charms you have as this item boosts EXP.

Go to Hammerhead Station. From there, go north to the wall, where you should be able to fight a bandersnatch in the open world. Spam blizzard expericast on him until it dies or until you run out.

If he dies, leave the area, save, load game, he will respawn. This also works for treasure locations (easy mega phoenix farming, and food items too). Fight him again the same way.

When you feel satisfied, go to Altissa. Go to the far counter and stay at the inn for 3x EXP multiplier.

You could get Onion's BSB, or you could get Josef's Giant's Glove and someone here actually did. It's a gamble, but it's 25 mythril so feel free to pull if you don't want to draw on the OSBfest.

Before you decide to pull or not though, I'd recommend waiting until after tonight's maintenance so you can at least see what the OSBfest banners look like.

That was actually the party that I ended up using the most.
I actually used Hope as my leader a lot during the main story though, and it was fucking frustrating. I'd have Snow as a SEN in a boss fight and he'd be tanking hits and everything, but since you can't control where your units move Hope would just hang out right fucking next to Snow and get wrecked by AoEs. I could have Snow go to COM and take a swing or two but Hope would always end up right next to him again.

Also the effects of materias don't seem that special, it's generic "chance to doublecast" "increase potency", except it can be used with whatever materia you assigned to the characters

I feel like a colossal retard but I still don't think I know how to play FFXV properly.

I keep taking a load of damage in battle but consistently get A+ in everything.

The dodging never seems to work properly for me even though it's literally just "hold square"

I don't understand how to effectively fight the imperials that drops down from the ships since they use fucking guns and you're constantly taking damage unless you're constantly dodging.

On top of all that, the game is completely trivialised by the fact that the game gives you a few seconds in the critical stage so you can just open your inventory (which freezes time) and then instantly heal. With the potions costing like next to nothing there is nothing stopping you from just overstocking on them and exploiting the game.

Apart from when you crash the flying car I honestly can't see how it's possible to die in this game, even for a retard like me.

I mean, I'm still enjoying the game but I can't help but feel as if I'm doing something wrong because the combat seems so hit and miss. One minute I'm doing flips in the air and countering every little scrub that tries to fight me, the next minute I'm a bullet sponge because LOL CONSTANT DAMAGE FROM MACHINE GUN FIRE FOR THE NEXT MINUTE OR SO. Also my party seems to get wiped in almost every encounter with a boss, am I really expected to just keep freezing the game to heal them every time? Often I just et them get downed and do the rest myself, it's a waste of time keeping them alive.

I dunno, I just don't get it. 30 hours into the game and I still feel like I've just picked it up.

What's your Ascension Skill Tree look like? Guessing you don't have a lot of recover/healing/dodging shit. And in general, the strategy against mobs are Magic/Techniques/Spacing out. The last one is tedious but you can always do it. The other two depend on the magic you have and the Techniques you've got. Gladi has some great AOE Techniques for example.

And there are plnty of situations where having elemental weapons is good. For the XIII event, I needed either a Lightning with absurd attack or an elemental weapon to take advantage of Imperil to reliably two-turn kill the boss, and between the fire sword from the BF event and Chirijiraden (plus Flame Lance for someone like Cecil who won't hit hard anyway, but can contribute to a chain) there is a lot of element chain potential with a friend unit using one of those weapons. Plenty of people (me included) would generally prefer an elemental weapon for that reason. It being chance based basically makes it vastly inferior if you're using burstmode, since you'll be picking Single versus AE command based on how many dudes you can heal, and if you can't be sure you're getting 2 single target casts (and they might not even split to who needs it like you're saying) you're going to pick AE anyway.

I really really really dislike the balance between a lot of guaranteed vs. chance stuff here, aswell as just the retardation of some of these basically requiring that you fail to mitigate hits and have your characters take them, which also basically means any usually advantageous thing like Blinks or Sentinel suddenly makes a character worse.

With the complete inability to switch these between characters and every character stuck with their own that just means we have completely unmoving tiers of better and worse characters now.

In this case it's SG, Lightbringer or OK's BSB, SG because I've played RK since a year and 3 months while all my friends who strarted arround the same time have at least one. Lightbringer because waifu, and OK's because overkill is fun.
