CoD isn't a mage, she's a bulky physical/support that murders humans. She IS good though.
Exdeath is the best and only real mage option currently., but Arc isn't awful and Krile is actually a fairly decent mage and a top tier healer for a 5*.
Other than that, I think the only two worthwhile mages coming in the future are ara ara Fina and trance Terra.

Exdeath is the only good mage in the current state of the game. 5* mages don't cut it anymore, and 5* anything barely cuts it (Full Breakers get a pass because most have 6* defenses and debuffing is important)

If you don't have Exdeath, you don't have a mage. He does something in the range of 5x the damage they do.

Yes, Exdeath is currently the best mage, but Arc and Krile are perfectly serviceable in all current content if you don't have him.
I know this concept is hard for you to understand, but the fucking stick isn't a super common pull, even with the stealth normalized rates we've gotten.

Well, the only reason Aranea is there is because I glitched her to be a permanant party member. And the default camp animation now has to have her in it, so Gladiolus is just kinda there in the scene idling because he's technically not supposed to be there.
The only time you can ever camp with Aranea is in chapter 7 when Gladiolus is away from the party and she fills in his spot.

Let's look at Krile. Let's look and see her "damage" compared to his.
A maxed out suped up Krile can hit a whopping 363 MAG with max F2P investment.
A similarly geared exdeath hits 527 MAG.

Krile doing a dual aeroga would deal 8,538 damage to an enemy with 100 SPR.
Exdeath doing a dual meteor would deal 37,030 damage to that same enemy.
In case you aren't aware, those numbers aren't in the same ballpark. They aren't even on the same planet.

If you don't have a spare Cecil, shovel those burst pots into the one you have. If you DO have a spare, shovel them into the 3 star one. You'll level the limit break three times as quick.

Wrong. Mages are great, they just don't scale as well as you get further into the game and get TMs, plus they don't function as well in the chain meta outside of being finishers and there are units better at that currently.
Not to say you can't whale out a mage really well, they just haven't gotten the boost in attention they need yet compared to physical.
DW is a big example here. It turns physical units into heavy hitters with the double hit stuff, but all it does for mages is offers them another stat stick for their spells.

The reason to dump Pots into the 3 Star is because at 3 Stars, a level 1 limit break needs only 300 uses to level up, or 3 Mini Burst Pots.

At 5 Stars, the same level 1 limit break takes (I believe, I could be mistaken), 1,000 uses to level up.

You can level up the 3 Star Cecil's limit break almost three times as quickly as the 5 star one's. The only difference is that the 3 Star verion's limit caps at level 10 limit break, while the 5 Star has 20 levels.

The trick to maxing limit breaks is to level up the 3 star's limit to max, then awaken him to level them up the rest of the way. Each time you awaken a unit, it takes more uses to level the limit break.

Don't feel bad. You're actually doing what everyone recommends you do. Cecil, with or without his limit break maxed, is amazing. Even if you awaken the one without limit break training to 6, you've got an incredible unit who will serve you well.

Unless you get Phenomenally lucky with the maze (By which I mean you get 100 or so burst pots), or you're willing to spend several days limit break grinding on Wolffang Peak, you will NOT max out his limit break in one event.

While you're leveling the other one's limit break up, the first awakened one will be doing a wonderful job of protecting your team.

Ah, I see what you're saying. But this is why the enchanted maze is so good. It will get you a great deal of the materials you need to awaken most of your characters. It has single-handedly refilled my Sacred Crystal stocks from the FF5 banner when I did a bunch of awakenings.

On another note, if you've been logging in every day this month, today's login gift is a Medium Limit Burst Pot. It will give you 3000 points to your limit break. It won't fully level up the 3 Star's LB to max, but it will get you VERY far along the way.

It just brought my 4 Star Cecil from Level 12 to Level 14 LB, and I only need 9 more pots to get to level 15 LB.
