Yes, as a SaGa game. It still has non-linear storyline, multiple protagonists and an interesting battle system.

Things that not everyone may like:
- no character voice
- art direction
- no towns or dungeons, exploration happens entirely on map
- notable load time
- very invloved battle system, time consuming and pretty difficult as well
- events are basically VN style but with static 3D models (maybe not so much for this)
Moreover, it's not easy to grind your way out.

However, the combat visuals is amazing (for a Vita game at least) and the game play can be very satisfying. The combat is pretty strategic in nature, tough and takes quite a bit of time, so winning one feels really nice. One thing I noticed is the combat effects are elaborate and therefore animations are very nice, but it's at an expense of taking a bit more time.

The non-linear story is quite extensive: you can choose one of four stories and branching options happen as early as into the first hour. As an example, using Urpina, I have 3 different routes I can take right after the first major event. They lead to different regions. Within each regions, you also get many options for the events that arises (some of which apparantly affects storyline).

I heard that the volume of events is huge as well.

That I don't believe because I have zero trust on Sony ever announcing a new handheld device. Maybe Vita support could still be a thing for the next trilogy. Though I think they should do a set of two Atelier games next and try something radical since the sales for Atelier series have been dropping ever since Arland.

They have tried on nintendo and have always failed there, though I can see them trying again with a plus edition of Sophie or something on Switch if it ever takes off. Interesting times. I would also buy any device if they ever got back to Exa pico universe.

There are two types:
1) ~5 sec to go into party preperation, then ~5 sec to go into battle proper.
2) ~3 sec to go from confirming of command to execution (attack animations), which completes a turn after the animations are done.

1) is alright, since typical battles lasts at least a couple minutes. Quite frequently more.
2) is the one that bothers me a little. (The attack animations probably lasts ~10 secs.)
You don't really feel it that much due to the hype bgm and anticipation, plus the camera switches around during that time.

This way, even if you're bad and get 2nd rank sorcerer, or even 3rd rank sorcerer, these shit stats won't be archived due to you being Grim and having the reward randomized.

Once you get better and get higher sorcery ranks with ease, switch to the other two factions.

It's just vanity though.

Those "F. Puppeteer" essence is the one thing I wish I had done in SS before importing my save.
Your only method of acquiring them in SSD is through the Soul Shards, those random blue glows in the field.
It's like a lottery between all the possible small essences in the whole game.

Whereas in Vanilla, they can be found easily in Knight of Vengeance Ch. 4.

The first one I got for obvious reasons, but at the time I wasn't sure I was going to care for the Vita all that much, so I cheaped out instead of getting the one I wanted. It was used, black, and was chipped all around the edges.

Yeah, they lump game data, DLC, patches, and save data together into one file. So when you want to back it up through CMA, you select the skittle for the game and it'll back up all 4 of those things for you at once whether it's a physical or digital copy.
Unless if the physical copy also has a large patch like Estival Versus then it's not a big deal. A lot of the physical games end up under 10MB, and most of the ones that get a patch or two still end up being under about 25MB. Compare that to a digital copy of the same game that'd be in the 3GB range and you'll see why people tend to favour physical for large games.
