Got caught up with something, I'm just past the introduction with all the characters.

Seems quite alright to me. Pretty casual during conversations, no wierd behaviors/has common sense, so that she doesn't stand out too much. Might get overshadowed by the rest if this goes on, but I suppose that may change when the events occur.

- SS allowed but it uses extra ram, no transfers during play.
- Room investigation now has a function where you can touch/move some objects, though nothing interesting happened so far. I was only able to destroy some objects.
- still partially voiced like the previous games.
- there is a new function that allows you to reply, during conversations, with ~8 to 10 different responses, differentiated by your intentions. However, it appears to do nothing.
- the environment visuals are alright I think, nothing looked particularly weird.

Hmm, I think they're decent enough. Though the mana is always a bit of a problem even with the regenerative artifacts, I really like the way DT2 handled the mana problem with maids. With DG the items are too expensive and not effective enough to go wild with magic in my opinion.

Overall, Shantae is pretty much 4,5/5 game. Controls are spot on, it's a lot of fun to explore levels and find cool stuff, and holy shit the soundtrack almost steals the show once again. It's so freaking good.

The only part I didn't like was the last autoscroller section, which is the last playable part before the end credits, has one really shitty jump as the last obstacle, and if you miss it, you'll have to start the section all over again. The game gives you under one second to react to it, so it really felt cheap. Made me really angry, especially after seeing how it was the last jump before the end.

It's a shame, because everything else about the game is an absolute joy from start to finish. Definitely recommended, if not only for the soundtrack alone. It helps that the game itself is a ton of fun, too.

The demo is basically about
1) Introducing the main characters: You get a feel of how they're like.
2) A view of the campus. They have shown cafeteria, personal rooms, gym, kitchen etc. It's a single floor so far.
3) Crime investigation, but it's pretty much same as before.
4) The trial along with its new mechanics.
They showed Brain Drive, Panic Debate, Non-stop debate (which is the same as before), Imagination Excavation and also the ability to (mechanics spoiler)
tell lies. The last one in particular adds quite a bit to the drama, which I think is nice.


The demo ends with an interrupt when you are reaching the climax, so honestly it's kind of a let down, but since it's a demo I guess it can be forgiven? It's also kind of like a fanservice since Naegi and Hinata gets quite a bit of showtime.

Otherwise, excluding the character voice, I think the demo is pretty good overall. The characters seem quite interesting as well.
