This all happens at the end of your turn. So for the grand value, you should already estabilish a great board of followers, with one or even to Elana amulets to boot. How the fuck would you place a Statue on it? And would its delayed efect matter more than instant buff from any other healing tool you got? I don't think so.

Why do so many people suck at trading so much in this game?

I have an 8/3, two 2/2s and a 2/1 up. Opponent plays a 3/7 ward, and evolves it. The obvious choice of action is to take down the 8/3. You could potentially get slightly more value by killing a 2/2 instead (you end up killing a 2/2 instead of letting the 2/1 ram into your ward), but that's such a tiny amount of value for a huge risk, so there's hardly a point in that. But that is exactly what my opponent did, and his 5/7 then got removed with very little effort.

And I run into these people all the time.

Banner Sword and Storm Haven don't demand legos either, in the case of Storm Haven Moon Al-Mir'aj is nice to have but not essential. Cerberus is essential to Aggro Shadow but that's 90% of the deck's cost. Aside from Cerbs and Phantom Howl the entire deck is bronze.
