(reposting in the new thread) had cakes on my 3ds since the start, about to go through the a9lh guide and switch to luma. I figured I just start from step 5, https://3ds.guide/decrypt9-(homebrew-launcher), but it's been so long since I've done anything to this ds I'm not sure where I'm at.

"follow all instructions from within or applying to SysNAND" - so I boot into sysnand and access the homebrew launcher from there (through the browser? can't even remember if that's possible)

I had my connection disabled, and last night despite that my PS4 randomly started trying to resume the update in the middle of playing The Last Guardian. I'm lucky that I happened to be awake and on the console at 3AM, or else it probably would have succeeded. If you want to keep your PS4 safe, delete your internet settings and, to be extra careful, change your wifi password.

On the step where it's asking me to clear the Home Menu's extdata by navigating to a certain folder [/Nintendo 3DS/(32 Character ID)] but I have 3 of these folders - how do I know which corresponds to sysNAND? I'm not an expert, but if you get a PS2, I've heard that fats are preferred over slims.

The fats have the HD Loader if you install a hard drive to it, and it runs well. Slims, to my knowledge, don't have the HDD expansion, so they're only limited to the USB ports. Which normally wouldn't be a problem, except they're USB 1.1. So they're slow as shit. You'd be better off burning discs instead of using the USB loader for PS2.

So, if you're cool with just burning discs, you can get a slim. But if you prefer hard drive storage for your isos, get a fat.

Or, get a PS3 and hack it.

Or, just emulate if you have a strong enough PC.

2)Assuming i have 2 3DS, one legit and one hacked, one with a cartridge of Sun and the other with a .cia of Moon. If i play Sun on the hacked one(to create a way for JKSM to interact with Sun) what ACTUALLY CHANGES in the Festival Plaza? Is every building removed? Do i lose all the levels and points? Or, since i don't actually need to do anything but turn on the game and save once, nothing happens to it? I mean it's not like i care about the buildings, but i'd like to keep my levels and points.

The thing is, if this NAND backup is as old as it is, it shouldn't be 11.2 and It was made back in august.

I deleted every previous NAND backup from the SD card to free up space for a new one.

Then I restored from NANDmin_emu.bin, which I made just before with Hourglass9, backed up SD card files, formatted and restored the files.

I hacked my 3DS months ago and used rxTools 2.6 I believe. Now I'm trying to get the arm11 hax to work.

I've downgraded to 2.1, but I can't get Homebrew to run from browser with 2xrsa. I'll see "Load arm.bin" briefly, with a transparent-checkered bottom screen and white top screen, and it'll free a few seconds later.

Loadiine lacks online and some DLC support (Hyrule Warriors, Smash, Mario Kart, and a bunch of others work fine though). The only real flaw is no online for games like Mario Maker, Splatoon, and so on.

You can install freemcboot in so many ways it is crazy. I have done it at least 10 different ways. Once it is done it is pretty much the best thing you can do yo a ps2.

Allowed me to play Global Defense Force 8 years ago on a NTSC tv. Also let me use my HDD (80 FUCKING GIGS) to store 10-15 illegally downloaded games at a time. Loading was only a bit better. You can even change the resolution and do workarounds for online (easily compared to non freemcboot)

There are so many things you can do with it, it is insane.

You need to put the drive in a pc that has a pata port (or usb to pata) to load games on it. Then use a pc/linux program that turns the games into loadable formats your ps2 and the ps2 loader applications can understand.

There are FTP/ethernet ways as well but they take ages in comparison.

After the HDD has games you load the HDloader app (or similar) with Freemcboot.

I'd recommend OPL (Open PS2 Loader) way more than HDL

OPL lets you set up virtual memory cards, and can be loaded with GS Mode Selector, which lets you choose output resolution, and also has higher compatibility with games. There is very little reason to keep using HD Loader now, though I like to keep it as a backup on my memory card to load if need be, though I honestly haven't had to yet.

Freeshop can install games without tickets. If you use CIAngel to get tickets you can literally get it from the eshop as if you owned it and are redownloading it. You only need one of the two.

Nintendo afaik has never banned anyone for anything cfw related aside from the early Sun and Moon bans. That said, downloading the tickets from CIAngel and them "redownloading" from the eshop is probably safer. I've done it for months with no issues, but I also have never had an nnid.

Is an NNID required to use the CIAngel method, and are bans to the system or to NNID?

Doing this for my nephews. Sounds like Freeshop might be better because it sounds easier (they're 7 and 4)

An nnid is definitely not required as I dont have one. Freeshop is definitely easier, as it has more of a gui. The bans are all hypothetical, and I haven't heard of any. The Sun and moon ones were for the console, and I think they can't be completely bypassed.

Just update the game again to 1.4. Should be fine even if you have to system update to 11.2. You already have the dsiware save injected, so the downgrade process will work on 11.2.

Otherwise, you can get basehaxx and homebrew back by restoring your NAND backup with the dsiware.

DSiware and NFIRM downgrade work on 11.2. Its only injecting the save that can't be done. The point of waithax and system transfer methods is just to install the dsiware save file. Once its there, it is safe to update to 11.2.
