With but 3 Months to count down to the Switch's release, what are you hoping for out of the system?

Want to see people lugging them around malls?
Want it to bomb so nintendo can focus on the SNES classic edition? :^)

Personally,

I want to be able to merge my current library of Virtual Console games. I don't want to have to spend 15 dollars on a ROM of Earthbound again. My reasoning is The Switch will have N64 emulation capability and I think it's worth hoping for Gamecube/Dolphin emulation. I will pay to play Super Mario Sunshine on the toilet/in bed/wherever my house doesn't have a TV.

I want a unified multiplayer service, with a dedicated account and structure comparable to Steam, Playstation Online, and Xbox Live. There's no excuse not to commit to it at this point, and it boggles the mind that they got started with the Nintendo Wifi Connector in 2004 (remember THAT thing?) and we're still on 12-digit friend codes. ENOUGH.

I don't want to pay a subscription fee to play whatever Splatoon is on the shitter. I think some people would be willing to pay for something like XBL Gold or PSPlus for some kind of bonus, like free games. But goddamn will they be dropping the ball if I have to pay a sub fee.

I hope the Switch continues the 3DS's trend of having a lot of Picross. You don't need a touch screen for it, buttons are perfectly fine.

Picross is great.
I'd recommend starting with Picross DS if you can find a copy or Picross e3 (for the Mega Picross puzzles).
Picross 3D is also excellent but rather than the 3D adding another layer of complexity, it's more of an alternate way of playing rather than building on traditional Picross. It's not like 4D Chess, it's more like 3D chess but the pieces start in different positions.

Got surprised the other day with an invitation to a Switch event on the 16th of January, very out of the blue but it's exciting nonetheless.

Hoping for some other game reveals in the direct so I can play something new but if its just Zelda that'll be fine too.

Picross 3D is one of the best traditional puzzlers I've ever played. Dozens of hours of playtime for a price that's probably dirt cheap by now. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys those kinds of logic puzzles, but if you really want to see for yourself I think Picross 3D: Round 2 has a demo on the eShop.

Damn son. That's more times than I died in the whole game. It's really hard to get a game over since Paper Mario doesn't take damage from most attacks while he's got copies.

I got all the pink coins :) probably took me 3 hours of playing. Max rally tickets is 99 so I had to do a bunch of those in between worlds.

The purple coins are way tougher, haven't even tried going for blacks yet. I really like the rally system and that's where people will get crazy competitive, the build system is nothing amazing but I'm sure tons of people love pimping out their kingdom with flowers and shrooms.

i really like super mario run

there's 24 levels (and some bonus/secret ones) but each level has 3 sets of coins (pink/purple/black), and each variant changes the level layout itself. purple coins are tricky, i imagine the black coins are devilish, but the real replayability for me at least is beating my friends high scores and playing toad rally, toad rally seems to be the main mode (it's like the ghost ai race / coin rush basically)

Just finished it.
I couldn't find any issues with it.
Everything was clearly conveyed to the player, there were no points of no return if you fucked up something that forced you to restart the whole level, the difficulty curve was fair and it was very enjoyable to play.
It's a great level. I liked playing it.

I replayed and I did notice that the very final obstacle before the last pipe can be cheesed if you have a mushroom. You can just take the hit and use the invincibility phase to run through it.
It's up to you if you want to fix that up or not.

I'm pretty shocked people seem to STILL be playing Xenoblade Chronicles after all this time. Squad missions kept being completed and shit out of thin air. That's pretty nice.

It's good.

It can be clunky of you don't learn the controls like with Star Fox Zero.

Basically it has a somewhat stiff tank control style that can easily be mastered when you realize there's a strafe button and camera snap button. I think a few reviewers complained about the controls.

Other than that it's a pretty depressing and creepy mission based game, lots of different lenses and effects for your camera, and you can level them by using the points you get from taking pictures.

There are a lot of collectibles and they mostly require reading a few sentences to get background on the setting, story, and characters. (Which desu is better and faster than having to sit through lots of spoken dialogue or cut scenes)

Tank controls are what keeps a horror game from becoming a straight up action game. You need to struggle to fight with the game so it builds suspense.

And usually tank controls restrict camera movement so it creates a more claustrophobic feeling.

Also I find it weird that they have Ayane from Dead or Alive in the game. That's like having Ninja Gaiden characters in Orochi Warriors.

When I first played Freedom Unite. I played it for around 50 hours thinking that it was taking so long to do anything because it was just intended to be difficult.
Not once did I upgrade my armour and I completely misunderstood how skills worked.
For the love of god, don't fall into the trap of thinking that a piece of armour with two points of Fire Resistance means that your resistance to fire goes up twice. You need 10 points in a particular skill before you actually get the skill properly.
Don't be afraid to ask Monster Hunter threads or check the wiki.
