This isn't even a very good run, and I didn't have any of the aero upgrades. I'd like to knuckle-down and record a sub-5:00 but I've lost some motivation with the upcoming patch. I still think expecting somebody to go much below 5:20-5:30 on a semi-repeatable basis is a bit much.

I've experimented with setting the gear box ratio to very low numbers using the editor. Usually ends with me having the windshield explode in my face. Anyone tried setting the ratio to an absurdly high value to accelerate like sanic?

Most, if not all cars have a speed governor/limiter and have to be mod/chipped to "unlock" full speed/performance. I think its there to protect engine from damage.

GTA online has reduced speed for netcode reasons i do believe. The game can be moded to have realistic speeds

Here is the Ferndale rally. I also included the drive to the rally so skip to 6 minutes if you don't care about that. Audio is probably more tolerable than the driving, but that's not really saying much. My first race was better, but I didn't record that so you get this instead.

The Ferndale has enough power, but the handling is just so hard to deal with I don't think anyone can do it. It would take a very large amount of practice.

The shittruck doesn't have the power, it's just too slow. Easiest to finish with, though.

Tractor is obviously too slow. Boat is a boat.

The van is the only vehicle I haven't tried with, and it's probably the best contender. It might have the power and it handles much better than the Ferndale.

That death wobble at 100+ kph certainly wouldn't help, but I've driven though it and it's actually entirely for show. The van probably accelerates from 60-100 faster than the shit truck, which is what you need for getting out of corners and making a good time. I'll give it a go tomorrow if I start playing again before the game updates. Right now I need sleep.

Well, hardwood flooring is pretty nice, so that'll probably cost extra. That couch is shit, so see if you can negotiate that out of the setup.
That TV stand is nice, but outdated. It works well with the theme of the house though.
Probably a 100-200k setup for the house.

I'm not imagining it; the car spins out much more easily now. I set the gears to stock and not 3,7 so that would make it feel slightly different but this is just absurd. It really does have a noticable effect. I'd wager that a more competent driver (and not using a keyboard) could probably slide this setup around corners quite easily, without using the e-brake.

Someone mentioned in a previous thread that your windshield explodes when you reach a certain (extremely) high speed. This is what happens when you lift Satsuma up, with a gear ratio of 2,5, and gun it. No matter how low the gear ratio is, it peaks at what I assume is 235kph.

Hard coded speed limit confirmed?

Turns out if you set the gear ratio to 100, 4th gear will take you all the way to 7kph.

If you set the gear ratio to 0,1, 1st will take you all the way to nothing because the car instantly dies if you put it into gear

If you set the gear ratio to 1, 1st will take you all the way into 220kph.

If you then rev the engine to the limit in 4th and shift down to first it will deposit its main bearing on the roof of your house. If you then try to start the engine again it will make the sound of popcorn popping yet no further parts will be deposited anywhere.

The first thing you need to do is stock up on supplies. Take the crate of peer and the pack of sausages, and load it into the van. There's a gas canister in the garage, toss it in the van. There's a diesel canister in the large shed next to the tractor. Bring that as well. Drive (carefully!) along the dirt track until you reach a T-intersection.

From there you can either choose to go right, which is shorter but harder to actually survive the trip, or left, which is a longer trip but much safer. If you go right, follow the dirt road until you hit asphalt. Keep heading in the same direction, you'll see a highway very shortly. Go right on the highway, and then take the first right into Peräjärvi.

If you go left: Follow the dirt road until you get to an intersection. Go right. Very shortly you'll see the highway. Go right. Follow the highway, take the second right into Peräjärvi.

Stop by the gas pumps. Fill up the diesel canister with diesel and the gas canister with gas. Go into the shop right next to the road. Buy the fan belt (!!!!) and two canisters of each fluid. Pay for the gas and the fluids. Spend the rest of your money on food and peer. Beware of costs, buy in increments until you can't afford any more. Sausages are best food. Buy a crate or two of peer as well, it's very useful. Don't worry if you're broke now. Load everything in the van, and carefully drive home.

That's basically how you start the game.

Ideal cycle to last forever is dev releases a new map and car to build every year and game's fans pick it up again every summer to complete by the end, like a real summer car hobby. Legit. All the driveable cars in the game have a tendency to spaz out if you push them by the wheels. Just keep pushing and prodding, and running into and backing off and clipping into areas around the wheel, and eventually something crazy will happen. If they're already interacting with other physics objects, the more violent the reaction.

I placed Satsuma on Kekmet, and put her right next to the wall, on the highest hydraulic setting. I pushed for a while, but she fell down halway, nose resting on the ground and the ass still hanging on the forks. I "clipped" into the engine room while pushing and just got launched onto the roof of the house.

you have to realize summer is only like 3-4 weeks in finland, the rest of the year it's cold and dark. this is the reason they drink so much and enjoy crazy dangerous sports like rally on shitty dirt roads.

yeah this game is a great mix of comfy and tense. plus it's very rewarding once you get your car up and running. I've spent more time and had more fun with MSC than GTA V.

No, not on that side. Drove the lap around the lake and it seems the dev has only modified the point marked in pic related.

Even then it's just a bunch of hastily made ridges and bumps that you could actually scale with the Satsuma, with a minor risk of damage. Haven't tried the van or truck though, but I would imagine is much harder due to their high center of gravity and weight. The tractor definitely won't make it over there now.

That's what I did the first few hours playing too.

Protip:
drive the shit truck instead of the van.
Use high gear (R).
Lower the rear axle.

It's much more stable, and an easier drive overall through those backroads.
