those bars don't take into account the k_hit of the ammo. Most likely that 5.45 does more damage than 9mm, without even considering the hit_power of the gun, which is what those bars show

also let's not forget the k_ap of the ammo. If the 5.45 doesn't have higher k_pierce and p_ap than the 9mm, the mod maker is retarded.

Seems good, to be fair only Freedom and Mercs seemed to have a high concentration of NATO guns in the game, Loners / Monolith can be found with them but they carry whatever they can find and there's no organization with either of those two. Generally, I think the area around Dead City / Army Warehouses would be the only place in the Zone where 5.56 would be the most common.

As for Ecologists, I never pictured them much as fighters, I imagine they'd be given submachine guns, pump action shotguns, and PDWs like the MP7 for self defense.

Stuff like ceramic armor might stop slugs, but soft armor, and dyneema poly armor would get fucked up hardcore by it.

Slugs don't really have to penetrate armor to be effective. They have enough kinetic energy to do stuff like break bones and cause internal damage without penetrating.

Really? I've never thought of semi-auto shotguns to be anything special. They cost more of course, but they aren't exactly rare weapons. They'd probably be more common than any western weapon (MP5, M16, etc) in the zone.

I mean I own a semi-auto shotgun in real life and I don't need any special permits or anything for it. Definitely cheaper than buying an AK-74 or 47. Semi-auto shotguns have been around basically as long as any shotguns have.

The way that I've always interpreted Freedom having NATO weapons is that they get Western weapons dumped on them by suppliers using them.

I think both Freedom and Mercs have pretty much the same supply chain, but it's divided up into two hands, Mercs get overt Western support, while Freedom get covert, or indirect Western support, as in, they may not be even aware that they are being supplied as a way to push Western interests.

I guess the Pripyat tunnel under the Jupiter plant can be a little scary since it's dark and Snorks are everywhere. There's also a cool bloodsucker lair mission, but it's not as bad as you'd think since you've got a friendly NPC with you. It's definitely not as scary as the underground SoC sections.

I agree, but I think you need to specify the kind of semi-automatic shotgun. Tube fed ones should be fairly common and cheap. Mag fed Saigas or Veprs are more expensive and should be less common, less so if they are capable of selective fire.

Do you live in the US/have purchased firearms here? Although it is true some special snowflake guns have been banned over the years, mostly due to their depiction in media, semi-automatic shotguns are not any harder to get your hands on than a pump action.

If fact they are extremely common to see in gun shops and I think there's a even manufacture that sells a model out of Walmarts.

I live in Michigan and they a very common sight, even in the hands of adolescents, during bird hunting season.

Don't even think California has a restriction on them, just capacity.

Um, what? The semi-auto shotgun I own is in fact a SPAS-12, and I definitely legally own it. You can select between pump and semi-auto firing modes so I have no idea why it'd be illegal. It's not capable of full-auto firing without extensively modifying the firing mechanism, so it's not banned under the Reagan shitty gun bans.

Freedom got into a war with Duty, and this spurred an arms race between them. They get the weapons either for free, or for a discount because they use them to war with Duty and the Military, who's job is to keep the Zone closed.

Basically, NATO generals dumped a bunch of guns on a black market supplier to flood Freedom with weapons and use them as a can opener against the military Cordon.

They're perfect in the zone since you regularly fight mutants as well. This way you can keep the load-out lightweight and still be effective against mutants. Then scavenge shotgun shells from dead stalkers.

It's not broken, they just don't understand what it does. It makes NPC turn faster and align their weapon with moving targets much faster, it has nothing to do with weapon accuracy. If you don't believe me, leave it off and run while being shot at, they will miss 100% of the time. Turn it on and you'll see you can get hit even while moving or sprinting.

You should try LURK some time then you get 30-35 kg walk weight. You have to micro-manage and make a reasonable estimate of what you're going to need to bring and if you can loot some things, like med-kits and ammo.

The fireball is pretty useful. It sometimes sinks below the floor in that room. Try shooting at the floor near the two planks that let you get out of the room.

Did you get the Urchin in the room where you killed that first bloodsucker? It's the best rad reduction artifact in the game and very very rare.

One spoiler of sorts, but electra anomalies can spawn artifacts that only show up between midnight and 5am. There's a series of electras in that one tunnel near where you enter the underground, so consider going there between midnight and 5am if you're in the vicinity.

Read your quest notes for the Agropom docs and pay attention to when it suggests you try the mission. A lot of the guards are asleep between midnight and 5am.

Random advice: Drawing or changing weapons makes a noise so don't do that if you're trying to stealth around. You draw weapons on load, so don't save/load in the middle of a stealth segment.

What suit did you find that's better than the Stalker Suit at this point? It should be a straight upgrade to anything you have encountered so far (Merc Suit, basically), unless there's another Stalker Suit on the dead Stalker near the ladder where you enter the underground in vanilla, can't remember.

You can go to the other side of the corridor, you get to it from some stairs. The stairs are blocked by a Fruit Punch (they cause bleeding, incidentally) but you can jump over it using the railing or some shit. The electros are moving like the cordon one, they are still able to be discharged by a bolt tho. I recommend doing it because stamina is fucking awesome

The penalty isn't too bad if you're doing 2-3 shot bursts. If you have an AN-94 (Obokan in vanilla), it's 2-shot burst is pretty killer. Aim for the neck and the recoil will put the second shot in the head most times. Both locations are weak spots in vanilla.

As anon says, bolts let you discharge and run through electra anomalies. Useful in some spots later on. You don't need it for the two electra corridors you've encountered so far, you can walk/run through both if you time it right.

Definitely go back to that corridor before 5am. The artifacts you get are a huge quality of life booster for the rest of the game. Unlimited sprinting, basically.

I guess this all depends if you want to go for realism or for game's orignal design

In terms of realism - 98% of what would be found in the zone would be soviet surplus.The other 2% would be made up of newer russian federation weapons (AK74Ms and AK12s) and western weapons from the mercs and ecologs (it stands to reason that ecologs are a EU backed organization, so it would not be goofy to see G36s, MP5s and even L85s representing support by germany and UK)

The miltiary would be almost entirely AKS/AK74, 74Us, RPK and SVDs. None of the stuff most mods feature them with like grozas and an94s, which arent even in use by the Russians. In fact stuff like grozas and an94s would almost certainly be trophy pieces. They are after all, Ukrainian forces, not russian.

I think its safe to infer that Duty is supplied by Russian fed interests. So obviously a lot of AK74ms, pp-19s, AK12s, veprs, possibly some grozas and vals floating around.

Taking a realistic perspective obviously cuts down on the diversity of weapons you will find - but i dont think thats a bad thing. When i find a HK416 or an vintorez, i want to think "fucking cool!" not "oh look another...."

I've had the most fun as a Merc so far. Most of your jobs are pretty simple blood money tasks for hits, and if you disable X-16 you can travel to Yantar fairly easily.

I started off as enemies with Loners and Bandits but eventually made them neutral towards me, and Ecologists/Clear Sky are in an alliance with me.

I did like having bandits and freedom as enemies though.

Autism update - CoC 1.4.16, Stalker initial population 4x, respawns disabled, goal: eliminate all stalkers without using wish granter.

The time finally came to turn on my own faction, since my weapons and armor are upgraded and supplies are stockpiled. I reached the first major milestone - the Top 100 no longer has enough stalkers left to fill it. Just me and 84 others remain standing. And they're hard to find - the Zone is a desolate wasteland and it's not unusual to pass entire areas without encountering a single stalker these days.

I have no idea why I'm stuck at 31/32 locations, feels like I hit up the usual suspects at least once - the labs, darkscape, agroprom underground, generators & generator bunker, etc.

It's going to be a very long hunt to find these stragglers.

Yes. In my opinion Arsenal Overhaul has pretty poor quality standards for models and animations as well as which weapons it chooses to add. OWR3 does not add any new weapons at all, but rather replaces original weapons with much, much higher quality versions including ballistics and ammo. STCoP is somewhere between OWR3 and AO when it comes to quality, so if you're looking for a weapon mod that adds new weapons, I'd use STCoP instead of AO.

Also, Arsenal Overhaul is dead. This is likely the last version we'll ever see of it aside from compatibility patches. E.Nigma the AO creator has stated he's ceased all development on AO. The mod is even archived on moddb.

No, I gave up on it, but I have some unfinished stuff that I might port to CoC. If I'm going to be working on anything it's going to be a CoC addon.

When I took a break from modding STALKER it was a long time ago and I was really burned out from playing it, and video games in general. And since I still have some obligations I don't think it's likely that I'll even be able to finish or release anything I start working on now.

Although I might also start some work on a secret project that isn't even a mod, and may be compatible with pretty much any of the games or mods, and enjoyable by itself.

I figured the way to make a mag mod for CoC would be not porting, but re-engineering Kirag's original mod based on its principles, the only core difference being taking out mags being reloaded with animations and instead using the logic from CoC's repair kit to fill them, but alas I lack a scripter with the talent and patience of TKGP.

There is a mountain of assets in terms of meshes that a lot of AO guns use, and many of them were already ported to Shoker Mod, so those ones are usable.

How easy is CoC's SDK for .ogf conversion? SoC's SDK was a broken nightmare.

You're carrying way, way too much ammo and supplies. 5 bandages, 10 medkits, 30 shotgun rounds, 150-200 rifle rounds. Artifacts are for rads and sprint, and 1 healing artifact for out of combat healing, maybe a mica if you bleed a lot. 50 weight limit is plenty and you're missing out on some of the game if you don't occasionally have to make decisions or even in a pinch have to swap weapons.

Most of it in ZoA is in a big config file named magazines.ltx

The mag size for all of the weapons is 1, and all of the magazine sections in magazines.ltx determine their capacity, what ammo they use, reloading states, etc.

Then there's the ammo boxing/unboxing script, which is easy to understand. Ammo was changed from boxes containing multiple rounds, into individual rounds, and the box was revived as a separate item, a spawner for individual rounds. That can be reboxed up, and basically the logic for reboxing ammo could also be used to refill mags. For example empty mags could be changed into the same type of empty box item.

The textures not only look bad, but they are hilariously unoptimized. Absolutely crushing fps, for comparison, with the latest absolute packs, or autumnal winds installed + SWTC and all the bells and whistles like grass density turned right up, the latter has about 5x the fps

not only do you have to contend with the usual MISERable features like retarded economy or chicken dirt scratching survival, but they've also edited the player movement and aim speeds, which at first you think is cool because its so different, but then you realize how horrible it is because all the MISERY mutant settings are supercharged and you're stucking moving and aiming like you're playing resident evil on the fucking PS1

The only thing thats likeable about this piece of shit is that the stcop adaptation for it actually seems to have sensible weapon distribution unlike its normal counterpart

Yeah, I've got 240,000 rubles and nothing here either. I just got my first achievement for shooting down a military helicopter with an RPG-7V, but I don't think I got anything for it. Just bought an exosuit from Nimble so now I'm down to like 180,000 or so.

I don't even know what to spend my money on. Got a standard AKS-74, M1911A1, and an RPG-7V in my backpack with a couple rockets. I can kill anything and with my exosuit I'm pretty hard to kill. Not sure what to do now. I've become a god in just a few hours of playing CoC.

Personally, I thought CoP was more scary when you start out, or at least more intimidating. SoC is pretty linear when it comes to where you have to go, so as long as you stick to script you know where you have to go.

CoP just throws you in a big ass map and expects you to make the journey to them on your own. First playthrough was nerve wracking for me until I got decent gear because the second I ran into trouble I wouldn't know where to run most of the time, especially at night. And falling down into a snork cave was horrifying.

But all of that doesn't matter if you already played a STALKER game. If CoP was gonna be your first it would have been the scariest, but if you played SoC already you should be used to all kinds of shit by now.

I think rhat SoC had better audiovisual atmosphere for creepy environments but CoP with simple Alife enhancing mods turn into very scary experience since outside of safe zones(sometimes IN the safe zones) you can be ambushed by all kinds of monsters or hostile stalkers.

It's really atmospheric in modded CoP when you're out stalking and an emission hits and you can see the flares shot up into the sky and the watchmen firing at approaching mutant hordes while stalkes hurry into cover.

I'm supposed to escort some fucking egghead in CoC + STCoP + suit addon so I take another squad with me to soak up some damage, the AI stops after like everything I kill and just stands there pointing their gun at it until I reload the save. I'm thinking the helicopter has something to do with it. Anyone know a fix? I

Tried it with AO and it does the same thing. I'm playing Clear Sky campaign mode or whatever along with hardcore AI accuracy, and it does it with Ironman too.

I was playing Mercenary about a week ago with the same version and it never happened to me there but I was just bringing 1 squad.

So I haven't played stalker in a few years.
Decided to come back and see what cool new mods are out and I'm becoming interested in CoC.
Any must-get addons for it? In terms of experience I wanna get out of it, more of just an enhanced vanilla freeroam experience with interesting faction stuff and plenty of items to discover/play with.
But I haven't played in so long that I don't recognize half of these mods anymore.
And I want to avoid mods that add ugly unfitting photo-realistic guns or fuck over the balance completely. I'd like shit to kinda fit in.
Any recommendations?

It's called Hardcore AI Aim, not accuracy.

Aiming is not the same thing as weapon accuracy. Weapon accuracy is directly tied to weapon, AI aiming settings have to do with speed of rotation and angling of the AI's body and arms to align the weapon to fire.

Enable the mode, then look in user.ltx you'll see:
ai_aim_max_angle
ai_aim_min_angle
ai_aim_min_speed
ai_aim_predict_time

All of them will have changed values compared to having the option disabled.
