I haven't played Call of Pripyat in about a year or two. I'm installing it now from Steam.

What's a good relatively stable mod now for CoP? Looking for something that's all-inclusive, meaning includes vanilla bug fixes, enough polish to have 16:9 scopes, revamped gameplay, etc. When I left Misery was all the buzz, I think 1.1 was just released, but I could be remembering wrong.

Do any of the weapon addons for CoC give me something like pic related?

I always figured something like this is what I would carry innaZone for mutants and Misery's the only mod that I've played that adds something like it.

Well the main differences is sandbox/story mode.

Misery has main story of the game where Call of Chernobyl doesn't, though you can start the game in the story mode (which I haven't done yet desu).

Other than that, CoC has lot of more addons and it also had an addon that add difficulty from Misery and all the textures from it tho I haven't played this mod yet so I can't really say much about it.

Those are basically the main differences, Misery is also harder but as I said you can put CoM in CoC and it will be just like it but in sandbox mode.

I can picture what happened here: mercs got ambushed in the gas station but lost the fight.

These are the nice moments of Stalker and I guess this is the reason why it got so popular. The world doesn't revolve around you like in most hallway shooters, it's not about making you feel like you are in a michael bay movie. The world moves on independent of you, actors come in, live and die (mostly die).

The series doesn't even do an astounding job, it's pretty rough all things considered.
But the little moments make it shit and set it apart

I would like vehicles in STALKER 2, but only if they implement them in the way they were originally supposed to be. Details like worrying about fuel, tires, driving noise drawing hostile attention, and maintenance were all supposed to be in the game originally before the vehicles as a whole feature were cut from the game.

Personally though if we had to choose I'd prefer a broader arsenal, gunslinger tier animations, Escape From Tarkov tier weapon customization, fully developed complex AI for factions and mutants, and improved graphics/optimization. If we could also have vehicles, then that's a win-win.

Let's be real though, it is highly unlikely that STALKER 2 will ever see the light of day. If it does, it's even more unlikely to be what we all hope it would be. Best chance is to crowdfund a project with similar ambitions.

If you are looking for really great animations, and ballistics - get OWR3 (no new weapons and shotguns practically don't do any damage at all.)

If you are looking for good animations, fair economy and damage value as well - get STCoP (has like 10 weapon less from AO3)

Not him, but playing STCoP now and damage values seem kind of fucked. Sometimes I have to shoot center mass like 10 times with a 5.45 weapon on non-exos and even lighter enemies like regular merc suits.

It feels like it just encourages abusing leaning from trees and headshotting since it's always 1-2 no matter what and I don't want to play like that all the time. Even on master the AI accuracy is pretty poor unless you're close, but I dunno if that changes from weapon mod to weapon mod.

According to the comment section on the OWR addon page, there are no damage files. Apparently OWR uses the raw damage associated with the ammo types, and their weapons themselves do not modify the damage output. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding though.

Hey /sg/, been away from STALKER for quite a while but looking to get back into the swing of things.

I have not played a lot of CoC so I am finding that very enjoyable.

What are the recent events in the world of STALKER mods? Any new ones come out? Any cancelled? Still many in "TBA" I am sure.

Did STALKER soup for CoC ever release? What happened to the guy that making it?

Also what are some fun things to do in CoC. What classes do you like to pick and then what do you generally go do. I am just looking for ideas, quick scenarios to get into and do some stalkan' with a faction. I want the fun CoC experience.

I'm personally happy they went with vanilla ones as the default over forcing some third party janky shit into the package as default.

Plus I'm not even bothered by mirrored guns, it's fun to see the ejection port flapping while you shoot shit. The only thing that really does bother me is that the ejecting brass is made up of really low quality sprites.

I'm the guy who's also asking about that for CoC, so standby for an answer to that. Stuck deciding between STCoP, AO, and OWR. I think those are the only primary weapon packs out right now, though apparently AO is dead. No more development for Arsenal Overhaul, it's even archived on the Moddb page. That alone kinda makes me lean more toward STCoP or OWR.

I'm pretty sure it was Gunslinger that I played with years ago. It was some Russian mod translated to English with exceptional animation and model quality. It even included a custom intro sequence where you threw your AK over and hopped a fence to enter the zone, like a little first person cinematic. Maybe it wasn't Gunslinger, but I thought it was.

OWR is.. original weapons renewal? Or something like that. If you want the CoP experience(I prefer SoC) then I suggest just going with CoC since it's basically the defacto STALKER experience all in one. All factions, weapons, monsters, locales across all 3 games and more.

I like what I played of AO3 with CoP but for some reason I can't get CoP to run well without micro stutters and frame drops.

I installed AO, suit addon, and the compat patch and I'm trying to do some stupid escort mission in clear sky and the AI just gets stuck and stands there pointing their guns at nothing. I tried toggling all their different modes like stealth and passive and it doesn't do anything unless I save and reload.

I didn't have this problem with STCoP. Anyone else run across this? Will probably try reinstalling everything later.

I was also messing around on the campaign mode if that helps.

I have no idea. OWR comes with a bin folder with like half the engine in it, as well as a gamedata folder. Copying only gamedata works but it will probably fuck up shit.

OWR's bin files break the grass distance of AN. They do not break the FOV, maybe because it's already widescreen in OWR by default? I don't know.

Using OWR's bin files instead of just gamedata also gave me a different intro loading square thing.

Call of Chernobyl has three weapon packs available. Arsenal Overhaul which is apparently dead and no longer in development as of 2015, Original Weapon Renewal which apparently has shit weapon damage, and STCoP which honestly I know nothing about. There's no moddb page for STCoP standalone so I can't see any videos or images to compare.

I have a weirdest problem which I don't know where to attribute.
I only encountered in two mods (NLC-7 and Time for Change 2.5). Whenever I open Video settings, my PC starts makings a weird whistling noise, somewhat like a boiling kettle, but it goes away as soon as I close it and go back to game. I doesn't happen during gameplay, or in any other mod, or in any other game. I'm bloody confused.

OWR3 with LT's OWR adjustments addon is perfect.

stcop and ao both remain poorly balanced until someone makes a loot/spawn table fix because as it is right now you will find rookies within seconds of starting carrying high end weapons you can just loot and repair, which gives the game a very cheap and cheesy feel.

I dont know why this hasnt been done yet because the solution would be relatively simple to implement.

Until that happens, OWR3 has the most consistent quality and the most balanced gameplay.

After i install with all the default options and start a new game i get X3d3 stopped working during the loading screen.

i recently had trouble with AA2 myself so heres some things to try:

1. if you're on windows 8 or windows 10, you will probably need to install a directx 9 bundle. This is what got AA2 working for me, and it was strange because vanilla soc worked fine.

2. ENB causes a lot of problems and generally does not make the game look better IMO, reinstall AA2 without enb enabled.

3. a longshot is you might have to install stalker, launch it, start a new game, quit, THEN install AA2.

It's not just that, it's the weapon and ammo distribution in it that triggers me.

For instance, I wiped out a bunch of military guys in the swamps, and about half of them have AK-101s. Why is the Ukrainian military issuing NATO ammo guns to them when the rest of their squad uses 5.45? The logistical distribution of weapons makes zero sense.

And overall I find FAR more NATOshit than slavshit in 5.45, and every gun is in fucking .40SW and 10mm. Nobody uses .40SW except burgerland cops.

And also after like 5mins of playing I can loot a TRG-42 off of a dead Monolithian, TRGs cost like 22k IRL, they should be hard to find.

AO adds a lot of shit, which I like, although some of it is shit quality, but it's easier to cut things than to add things.

Most of the things I am let down about aren't even specifically related to the weapon addons themselves.

CoC in general has almost completely barren maps. You don't find things like guns or ammo or supplies just poking around in abandoned houses and stuff.

I also figured that at least one of these weapon mods has bothered to crack open the all.spawn and add weapons in that way, because then you can set condition and attachments, and positions on the weapons if you spawn them via all.spawn, and you can figure out what they'll look like when they spawn because CoC apparently also has an SDK, which is useful for finding the exact vertex and position you want to put something in.

It still kills the sense of exploration to not have useful things spawned in the open.

I usually find guns in stashes, and tools in stashes, but I don't think tools make sense in stashes either, because then you have to kill things or do missions for tools, and tools don't really have a set condition, and they're not very valuable, and there are certain places where they would likely spawn.

So I think the better way to implement tools is not the bullshitty way of throwing them in stashes, but assigning a variety of random spawn locations to them, so that players can walk over and pick them up, but they may not spawn in the same location frequently.

They pretty much have identical AKs and other stuff from looking at the models and .dds files.

I'm still going to play all 3 to figure out which models and skins are best, and if I bother to make changes it will be a lot of re-texturing of everything anyway and switching a few things around.

For instance, since I like the TRG, and hate when mods that add weapons use the same texture for different calibers, I changed the existing TRG to an alternate black finish for one of the .338 variants.

I feel like I'm going to be doing this a lot with the AKs, especially the 74M since I like my plum mags over the boring black ones.

I still haven't formally edited the .ogf with a hex change so that it uses the copy texture yet.

What I had in mind for the black finish variant is that it may either spawn out in the open via random spawn location, or be used by expert Mercs, with the bandit trader also selling it once in a blue moon, because you know, black market connections I think Freedom would use the L115A3 more, but I want like 4 TRGs max in the field, and 2 L115s max in the field total.

The green variant would probably be used by Freedom, and by expert stalkers as the TRG-22, since stalkers like common ammo instead of memeshit.

When editing loadouts I'll probably have stalkers carry guns that don't rely on mags, so MP-412 Rex, lots of shotguns, and bolt-action rifles.

I still didn't fix the purple scope and you have to do a bit of work within the configs of scopes themselves. I'm not sure about OWR 3 though, might be easier. Not at all. STCoP adds some great weapons, though some of their animations could use some work and many weapons do not have the same quality standard. For example the AK-74 sprint animation jerks all over the screen because it's not timed properly with the sprint animation. The AKS-74U receiver and wood textures are of much lower resolution than the AK-74 - stuff like that.

Overall a great mod and nothing wrong with playing it as a newcomer. Similar to Absolute Nature, Absolute Structures, and AtmosFear3.

It's AO, Monolith spawn with the MP-412 Rex, which is a .357 Magnum revolver that puts football sized holes in mutants, and is better than carrying any shotgun in the mod.

desu I think that Duty, bandits, and veteran stalkers would be more apt to carry it than Monolith. Mainly since Duty are hardcore about fighting mutants, bandits love anything with stopping power, and loners like revolvers and stuff that doesn't use mags because they like to scavenge.

Maybe it's just my experience in looking around Dead City, Truck Cemetery, and the loads of villages in the northern parts of the Zone.

I want to crack open the all.spawn and add tons of old, really broken AKMs and SVDs in the radioactive Truck Cemetery, with approx 10,000 rounds of ammunition there. It was all buried after the accident. Nobody in their right mind would touch an AK in that place.

I think these weapon mods also made the error of making the base price of guns far too high, instead of just jacking up the trader price 10:1 or so, the guns aren't worth shit because of supply and demand, they cost far less in the Zone than they do outside of it.

Well, shitter, many CoP spawns are disabled in CoC mod. For example there's no L85 in the boat by the cranes, there's no weapons or ammo under the small building with the creepy tiger painted on the side, and many of the CoP stashes aren't present at all. I even compared the MP-412 hit_power and k_hit of it's ammo compared to the Rem 870.

The MP-412 does 1.275 damage compared to the 870 at 1.19 using slugs.

Buckshot is weird fucked up damage due to buck using 8 shot shells and total damage being miscalculated (each shot shell is calculated in total damage in hit_power x k_hit). so a total load of buckshot into a target is somewhere near 5.0 dmg, but most of the time players don't even hit targets with the total load of shot and net them with part of the spread, which is 0.68 per shot shell.

I did. Shotguns are usually better because of the spread, but they're not enough. The fucking UMP-45 was the best bloodsucker slayer I used, since it has high RPM and uses .45 ACP.

I think either the rate of fire or damage for the Saiga and Vepr is too low, I should raise it to operational RoF and then upgrade it to full auto to test it.

You have to make calculations based on more than one file.

hit_power in weapons is multiplied by k_hit in the ammunition the weapons use, and damages.ltx for NPC armors.

As I recall there is also m_stalker.ltx for NPCs, (SoC only uses this one but CoP might use other ones) actor.ltx is the one for the player, both m_stalker.ltx and actor.ltx control anatomical damage levels and bleeding as well.

I may try pasting in ZoA's damage and bleeding bone values for the actor and NPCs, which means both the players and NPCs will bleed to death very quickly if shot in vitals and headshots will be absolutely fatal, which would be absolutely crazy and unforgiving on Ironmode with hardcore AI aim.

Aw fuck. They have extremely poor aim in regular mode, but them lacking nightvision is a plus.

I pretty much stayed out of anything other than long range engagements during the day while playing Ironman in CoC. The only time I bothered fighting up close was at night.

I also used NPC companions during the first week, because I didn't have the artifacts, and loadsa grenades + NV and silencers that I gained later on.

Mutants are easy, I don't die to mutants or anomalies, but if an NPC shoots you from 200m away from a bush it stings.

When I got my Gauss rifle it was when I went from Agroprom to Swamps, and the game spawned a Monolith squad on top of me and somehow I managed to sprint out of it before they could react and kill them with my VSS.

Eggheads want artifacts, and much more than mutant parts. They pay well for mutant parts currently, but it's TOO well, and they net more for those than for most artifacts.

Duty wants mutants dead, that is their purpose, and mutant parts are a bounty for them They should pay more for them than the scientists, they give them to the scientists anyway, and the prices of mutant parts don't really reflect the supply of mutants in the Zone.

I remember once I was defending the merc base (since I was playing as a merc) and got 33 flesh eyes from killing loadsa fleshes, literally the entire base was covered in flesh corpses.

meanwhile, artifacts are abundant, cheap and IMO, just bad. In SoC they were interesting because you could stack a whole bunch for several bonuses but you'll either have one huge drawback or several small ones. In CoP/CoC, all you get as a drawback is radiation.

my SoC artifact loadouts rarely needed radiation mitigation late game, I only kept an antirad artifact for QoL so I don't have to use antirads or vodka every time I wander in a pocket of radiation and keep those for the times I'm literally dying from it. In CoP/CoC, you need more antirad artifacts as you progress in the game because late game artifacts generate a fuckload of it.

I miss SoC artifacts.

The changes I added to ZoA that I didn't bother to release was that I hard-balanced all of the artifacts against each other.

For instance, some will give you almost complete bullet immunity, but will severely irradiate you in a matter of seconds, while others clean up radiation or add stamina but progressively drain your health as you use them.

Many of them counteracted each other, which meant that if you used them you'd have to use artifacts in certain combinations or one at a time.

With CoC's added mechanics I could do much more, which means I can make things like the Gravi have 0.0 weight and increase weight capacity because they don't function under normal physics, and I'm hoping I can also have artifacts that drain the players hunger for increasing stamina.

Also, I need mods that add new artifacts, like the ones in Sigerous Mod.

I wrote very detailed scientific descriptions for some of them, though most were placeholders.

That's exactly what I'm intending for CoC, instead of making a big mod like a ZoA 2, I'd rather make a number of small addons for CoC, mainly an artifact mod, and a weapon/balance mod, it would turn out much more stable as there are less things to implement and bug test.

I'm surprised that no one has made a magazine mod for CoC yet. It wouldn't really be hard to port Kirag's magazine mod, or ZoA's one to CoC, though I'd rather have one rebuilt from scratch for it based on the same principles.

There are even a load of assets in terms of models for each weapon type, and half of them were already ported to the CoP engine for Shoker Mod.

I could probably port the ammo system over from ZoA as a preliminary, but a magazine system to support it would have to be rebuilt from scratch by a decent scripter.

If you built a detector that would detect everything it wouldn't really be one type of "detector," it would be a clusterfuck of several detector types linked together with a computer and be really bulky and you would have to adjust it each time you wanted to find a different type of artifact.

Most of the detectors would probably be made by stalkers themselves that are gearheads, re-appropriating stuff like radios and hospital equipment and remote controls or missile seeker heads or simple ion detectors or whatever.

Scientists would be able to build different types of things but what they'd build would probably be really experimental and unreliable, but able to pick up things that normal detectors would not.

The idea of it is that you'd have to spend more dicking around searching for all of them and then after getting them all you'd have to search different types of anomalies with each one.

The one benefit of this system is that artifacts wouldn't be divided into tiers, but instead they'd be divided into types. If you had an electrical detector you would only be able to find electrical anomalies regardless of how strong they are, essentially it simplifies the process of searching.

Creating a new spawn point is as easy as enabling -dbg going in-game and pressing 'P' while in the main menu to print actor's positional data to a text file in main directory. Then you can just copy the values over into the faction_start_locations.ltx

One problem is the Stalker series doesn't have a good item library full of unique and interesting items to making searching for items justifiable. Doing something like Misery would be overkill as 80% of those items are useless or mirrors of other items.

Adding weapons laying everywhere may not be a good idea, unless you plan to make sure every one of them is unique or at least uncommon.

Really what is the difference between an item being in a box or on the ground? It's still exploration.

Another point is the engine isn't going to handle thousands of spawned junk and clutter in every nook and cranny of each level. Items are in boxes because they exist until they are opened. It's a compromise. CoC uses some clever tricks to be able run reliably with over 40k objects in-game at once and keep these numbers down, otherwise that 64k object limit is not far off.

That problem is new with 1.4 since the older versions of the weapon mods had hand-crafted character desc files. 1.4 replaced those with a script that randomly assigns weapons to NPCs. Stashes in CoC are randomly filled and so suffer from the same problem as NPC loadouts, no real concept of what should be rare to find. I think CoC lets you dynamically spawn stuff from scripts really, you don't have to me with all.spawn unless you want to. Some of the stuff from the original maps are still present in CoC. STCoP doesn't add that many and has a compatibility patch for Atmosfear, Absolute Nature and Absolute structures

OWR3 is basically vanilla amounts of guns (different damage model) but noone knows quite how it works. It's apparently compatible with Atmosfear/AN provided you install it last and not copy the bin folder.

Is there anything I can do about that? I don't want shotguns to be exclusively a point-blank weapon. For how much the shotguns and their ammo weigh they should provide some serious punch with 12G buckshot. Not to mention it's realistic to have shotguns very powerful to lightly armored targets such as mutants and civilian clothes.

After some reading it looks like I can try to fool around with critical_wound_threshold, but if that's possible it would make NPCs stagger proof.

Almost sounds better than how it is now, honestly. At least NPCs will act more predictably and can reliably be hosed down without the stagger making the kill take way longer than it should.

Well the problem for me is going for the head feels mandatory even at the closest range, because you want to avoid the stagger animation.

For example if you're really close to hostile NPCs it might make more sense to switch to full auto and just go for quick bursts to the chests. But that's likely to cause a stagger instead of a kill, requiring you to waste more time/ammo on a head shot or quickly swapping targets while the first is still staggered.

As an ironman player it just makes close range engagements feel like aids because you feel pigeon holed into riskier headshots.

Increased damage should be the benefit of headshots, not increased damage + avoiding the invincibility frames.

Sometimes I honestly wish I wasn't exposed to it because it makes every other game seem so much more boring than it should be.

Have you read the book? There wasn't really any reason to shoot another stalker.
The only thing there'd be to shoot was the military, but they only patrolled the outside of the Zone and rarely if ever stepped into it.

The Zone isn't an area where stalkers spend weeks inside; they plan a team in advance, go into the Zone, nab the goodies, and leave as soon as possible.
With all of the pressure the military puts on stalker in Roadside Picnic, most people who make their way to the Zone end up giving up and getting jobs in the towns. Only a few actually go into the Zone and end up dying almost instantly, so that leaves only the few veterans as the only stalkers. Seeing as they're all on the same side, there's no reason to kill one another.

STALKER contrasts quite significantly compared to Roadside and Stalker, especially seeing as the Zone in STALKER is actually a bloody picnic compared to Roadside and Stalker's Zone, were you have to check your steps every few feet, and even the slightest movement off-course can be your demise. STALKER actually feels more like a Zone Theme Park, with lots of mini Zones (the anomalies) scattered here and there where you can dip in, grab some trinkets, and skip off to the nearest merchant.

Apparently OWR itself is fucked, I'm not the only one with that same problem.
Haven't found a fix though. A workaround might be flatout removing the items from any trader, but fuck that.

It also conflicts with the item icon texture file (can't remember name right now), st_items_equipment.xml and coc_treasure_manager.ltx, also has different sounds.
And if you want to use the itemsoup's optional hide weapon at consumption (smurth's one sucks and probably doesn't work with soup's items), then items.ltx has conflicts.

I don't really know how many problems that makes, but it caused random crashes for me, when I shot at someone (and probably killing them), with an unhandled excption, so nothing useful in crash log. I think it was smurth's hud doing these crashes, as I uninstalled it and haven't got that crash since.

Maybe I am just dumb and installed it in wrong order out of fear of removing other features.

My autistic quest from earlier is making slight progress.

4x stalker pop, 1.5x mutant pop, respawns disabled through .ltx file, goal: eliminate all stalkers without using wish granter.

The Top 100 is half-populated by Duty now, the only faction I've yet to turn on. Once I do, I won't be able to buy/sell/upgrade/repair anymore, so stocking up on repair kits and ammo for the inevitable betrayal.

Thoughts: Should have set mutant pop higher, other stalkers slaughtered them all so quick. Helicopters haven't even shown up, I guess they don't spawn at start.

One more run-through of the Zone to pick up non-Duty stragglers and then it's bloodbath time in Rostok.

if you look in owr's weapon_addons.ltx those sections don't exist.

ac11090 + 1p29 doesn't exist as a section in OWR v6

so i'd guess that you probably threw OWR over an old stcop or ao install
or an addon you are using is fucking your shit up.

delete gamedat and start fresh, and stop being a lazy cunt and using mod organizers.
