it's like pre-season 4 in that you're gonna buy all the wards, and you're going to put them in places that tip you off to enemy movements mapwide, not just in a bush near your lane as last minute gank notification. (there are no bushes anyway)

Also when you and your carry decide to go in most of your damage will come from spells, but a single cast that drains 30+% of your mana pool and deals 50% enemy health, not like 5 casts that do 7% each and drain 5 mana.

Also, jungle camps respawn as long as there are no units in their spawnbox, whether the camp's still alive or not, so at 2:54, 4:54, 6:54 etc, autoattack a camp and run away kinda to the side. the creatures will follow you out before leashing back to their camp and there will be two spawn groups alive in the same camp for your carry to eat. This is called stacking. If the camp has ranged units, do it at :52 instead of :54.

Mana is much more important in Dota, but supports will probably still deal the majority of their damage with spells, even in the early game. First 10 minutes your right-clicks are good against carries but past a certain point theres no use.

Supports aren't so much damage dealers as "crowd controllers" to use LoL terms. Most have a strong disable and nuke. Only a handful are dedicated healers, but they often can be offensive, and their healing is very very strong.

As for other stuff, just read Purge's guide. But you'll want to wait at least a month for him to update it with all the new bullshit.

No, I agree. Some of the talents are completely random and I still don't know how icefrog came to their decisions, but saying there haven't been huge changes in the past is pretty stupid. Like I want to hear his justification for things like some heroes getting gpm while others don't, as well as when they get it. Like I don't see why a puck would ever take 300 gpm at level 25. Or why X support gets gpm at level 10 while Y support gets gpm at level 20.

My guess is 75% of you wouldn't know where to buy wards and play safe lane carries every match.
I literally buy out all the wards, dust, smoke, rotate to help lanes, place wards, pick up all bounties I can, and I'm STILL level 5 while 4/5 of their heroes is level 10.
You leave lane for 30 seconds and you're 3 levels behind.

Why did anyone even want a minimalist HUD, besides space saving? The only reason that shit works for HotS and LoL is because they have no fucking information to display to you beyond your basic stats. League's HUD has been designed around their bare bones stats for years now, thats why it works for them. In Dota, all the information has just been fucking hidden for no reason to try and fit it all in places they shouldnt be. People can go "muh burden of knowledge" but that doesnt change the fact that HIDING the information actually does nothing to solve the overload of info being presented, that just makes it worse when you actually need to access the information. The better way to solve the problem would to make better fucking tutorials and explain EVERYTHING thoroughly.
Trying to make Dota more like LoL in a single patch was a terrible idea, and its backfiring terribly. A minimalist HUD wont even work in Dota, because theres so much important info to see. Why would you want to reduce the information on the fucking HUD of all things, the place you will look at the most while you play, second only to the actual game itself?

In Dota, the support buys all the wards and courier (upgrade by AT LEAST 3:30, it's only 150 gold)

you were lied too, some mana costs are rediculous, but lategame it becomes trivial and only an issue if you are facing off with a manaburner like Antimage or diffusal blade, there are some 'supports' that are damage dealers like Omniknight, but for the most part to be a support you have to have one of two things
1. decent CC
and/or
2. strong abilities that scale well as not to need items as much as the carry (ADC) or mid.

There are a few dedicated healers like Dazzle (whom has one (1) damage dealing spell and it's almost exclusively for cc) and Io, whom also has one (1) damage dealing spell.

then there are screwballs like Oracle whom is a """"""""""support"""""""""" in the loosest sense of the term, as his heal deals magical damage before it heals you and his buff disarms you. Phoenix is an interesting hero in the fact that you have a heal/damage spell that also hurts you to cast in fact, all of phoenix's spells take health and mana to cast

Warlock is a meta support right now not sure what 7.00 did to him, but it was probably good and he has both a channeled aoe cc, Annie's ult, and one of the better single target healing spells it also does damage when cast on enemies, but be careful with that one

If you like a more 'active' support, Bounty Hunter could be more your style as he roams around invisible, using his ult to provide vision on enemies (and bonus gold if you kill them), and aura items like vlads and greaves to support the team

The only reason Valve updated the HUD UI (and the main menu UI) in the first place is because they have to get rid of ScaleForm.
ScaleForm is the old (and still partially used) UI library that Dota 2 has been using since the very beginning, but there are many problems with it.
One of the problems is the fact that Valve doesn't have access to the source code of it. There are countless ScaleForm issues that simply cannot be fixed by Valve. With the new Panorama framework developed by Valve themselves, they can fix any bugs they come across.
ScaleForm has been probably the biggest source of crashes ever in dota 2. It's immensely buggy, and causes insane amounts of crashes for people. From reading Valve's Os X / Linux bugtracker there must've been hundreds of reported Scaleform crashes that Valve couldn't fix.
ScaleForm was also the reason Vulkan wasn't really usable in Dota 2, because it has some Vulkan implementation bug that caused some issues with displaying ability cooldowns. And again, Valve couldn't fix it because it's closed-source.
Scaleform is still used in CM and some other mode i think, so they haven't gotten completely rid of it yet unfortunately. But this is the right direction. Valve simply can't bring the old ScaleForm mess back, and redoing the old UI in Panorama is going to be a massive amount of work.

ScaleForm has been probably the biggest source of crashes ever in dota 2. It's immensely buggy, and causes insane amounts of crashes for people. From reading Valve's Os X / Linux bugtracker there must've been hundreds of reported Scaleform crashes that Valve couldn't fix.
ScaleForm was also the reason Vulkan wasn't really usable in Dota 2, because it has some Vulkan implementation bug that caused some issues with displaying ability cooldowns. And again, Valve couldn't fix it because it's closed-source.

Scaleform is still used in CM and some other mode i think, so they haven't gotten completely rid of it yet unfortunately. But this is the right direction. Valve simply can't bring the old ScaleForm mess back, and redoing the old UI in Panorama is going to be a massive amount of work.

Things bad with the HUD.

>information at the borders of the screen instead of towards the middle (especially the HP and Mana bars)
>information being coded in a flashy, shiny, blinking way - see the kill section of who killed who being just icons+moving icon+icon and not like in the old client (a single color text line)

Heres the second one. Where is the tree you ask? Its now where the level up bar is. You just click the number when its glowing at 10/15/20/25 and itd expand out, up and to the left, because the hero portrait and that space to the left is entirely cosmetic and doesnt matter for the 15 seconds you make your decision on what to choose.
