The most they can hope for now is a resurgence like Fata got where it becomes a bit of a cult hit and the sales figures go up. It's possible it will happen if it's received well enough, but it likely won't be enough to make it profitable in the long run, at least not for a long time.

I've said this before, but if Mangagamer really wants to make sure that these sort of plotge don't end up bombing they need to market to youtubers to show off the game. Imagine what someone like Pewdiepie or Markiplier showing off Fata Morgana could do to attract new people to the visual novel medium. Sekai Project was already starting to do this tactic by making that Lost Pause guy do some videos about Grisaia, Mangagamer could do it too, and probably better, since I imagine Fata Morgana would probably attract a more western audience to the medium than Grisaia would.

Himawari was announced like 2 years ago, though. It isn't a recent thing from MG, all of their recent licenses have been full-fledged 18+ titles.

And neither G.O. (the writer for Himawari) or Frontwing would have never allowed them to localize the original 18+ Doujin version anyway.

Does it matter that Himawari is doing poorly? No. There's a possibility it will do better if it's well received and worth-of-mouth spreads. The H content was removed by Frontwing, when they made the console releases years ago. MG didn't have anything to do with it, and they wouldn't have been able to get an H-version even if they wanted to.

When they picked up the license, a good translator approached them with much of the work finished, and they were seeing big successes on Steam at the time. Anyone would have accepted the license, and it might have done well if waiting on Frontwing (or whomever was it was waiting on with a completed script) didn't drag on for more than a year while the Steam market imploded.

The plot of Fata is very robust even at a second read, my only issue are that and the bad ending in which Mitchel escapes through the door. Since we know Dedeir is behind it. But that scene is pretty weird to begging with, since also the White Haired Girl gets reincarnated in modern times and then Mitchel kills himself after realizing his mistake.

Apart from that,I was surprised by the incredible amount of foreshadowing that literally flew over my head the first time. Door 4 was bananas. The investigation part after door 3 was bananas. The opening was bananas.

Yeah, I'm not sure, but I think we're to assume that the Final Door was left unopened until Michel and Giselle went through it, and as such those events were never replayed. When Morgana tells us those events, she gives us her version of the story and there are indeed differences when we actually see it play out in the flesh. It's why she doesn't remember that she made an alternative personality to help her cope, and why the mystery of the WHG isn't solved until the very end.

Although if I was Morgana I would've probably had played around in metaphysical wonderland a bit more, but I guess she was too busy trying to mind break Giselle for all those years.

I know lots about science and I kinda hate science fiction. If one or more logics in the science doesn't add up, I lose motivation continuing the whole thing, whether it'd be a book, a VN or a movie. Memory RNA seems like some light saber / space laser gun type of science shit.

At least fantasy and magic allows a lot of leeways for the world logic to be created while science fiction feels like a broken version of this universe.

The Memory RNA, if possible, looks like something that you'd need surgery to perform in the brain first before you can successfully transplant things such as memories. The RNA pill would only get destroyed by your stomach acid just like any other food out there, if ingested. If it doesn't get destroyed or broken down, your body will reject it, or at worse, you'll get poisoned. If the characters were inorganic then RNA pills would make sense.
