I think people are mad about Ishi's murder in part due to the utter inanity of Celes's plan

Up until Chapter 3 Celes is cool, calculating. You get the feeling that if she does kill the case is going to be a fucking ride.

Then during Case 3 she comes running to you like a damsel in distress and you're like "You can't be fucking serious, Queen of Liars"

So the short term plan is stupid. It's convoluted and bizarre, and Celes behaving so out of character was like a dead give away, like the only doubts I had that she WASN'T the culprit was me thinking "There's no way Celes would be THIS stupid to think she's tricking me, maybe this is Kirigiri or something crazy."

But no, Celes doesn't pin the crime on Kirigiri.

She pins it on Hagakure.

The short term flaws: The crime itself was too convoluted, killing two people was an absurd and unnecessary risk, and the patsy was someone no one with a brain would buy

The long term flaws: She killed all the dumbasses save Asahina and Hagakure, but since she PINNED THE CRIME on Hagakure, he is obviously disinclined to vote against her.

And it's not just the fact that Ishimaru and Fat Fuck were dumb, they also were the most likely to vote in her favor at the trial's conslusion just on principle. Fat Fuck had been tricked into thinking there would be two trials so he'd vote for someone else, and Ishimaru is the only participant of the class trials on record to NOT vote for someone even after they confessed!

So imagine a world where Celes kills Naegi and Kirigiri(Imagine a world where Celes isn't a retard and would be capable of doing so)

She doesn't recruit fat fuck as accomplice, instead Aoi or Sakura is the patsy.

That means that the class trial would be her, Togami, Aoi, Sakura, Ishimaru, and Fat Fuck

An even number of six. 2 votes for Aoi from the start because Fat Fuck is a cuck. She just has to convince ONE OTHER person that Aoi/Sakura is the culprit. She'd win. Too bad she's a retard.

Cele's idiotic plan is only one half of the problem with the third chapter. The other half is how Ishimaru's character was handled, and his character did not matter in his very own murder. A majority of the focus was on Hifumi because he played a role of both a victim and a murderer, so part of the case is figuring out how he had a hand in both positions.

Another problem is that it completely undermines his character arc. He never gets any closure in getting over Mondo's death. You still get development on the characters after the voting has been done as the murderer reveals their motive and you still get some backstory on them as well as the victim. You find out that Sayaka pins the crime on Makoto and Leon became an unlucky opportunist, Mondo and Chihiro get entire full length backstories, Sakura reveals why she chose to sacrifice herself and why Aoi was duped to kill everyone, and we find out why Hifumi was tricked by Celes as well as Celes's true nature. Why find out absolutely nothing about Ishimaru because he didn't play any part in the murder other than being blamed for something he didn't do.

The writing also does not do a good job of giving the player a good reason to care about his death and showcasing just how tragic his character really is, and this is compounded by the fact that nobody in game seems to care about his predicament or give any type of reaction to seeing his body. And on top of that his Ishida transformation is never elaborated on so it just feels really out of place.

You get nothing when a character's story is unceremoniously killed half way through their development and nobody seems to bat an eye, and that's the biggest problem I have with his death.

I don't even like Kyoko, but I don't mind her revival (disregarding the fanservice-y way it was done, but that applies to the entire hope-arc).

My issue is with her dying is that it turns the entire Kyoko character to only a device for Makoto's development, and that disregards everything interesting that can be done with her. Even assuming DR3 is the final time chronologically we'll see these characters (as if), having Kyoko alive at the end at least lets the audience imagine how she would develop later.

It would be fine keeping her dead if her dying was the conclusion of her character arc, but what it really did in the narrative is make Makoto stop being useless. I guess I just object to the view of characters as plot-devices for other characters/the story, rather than full-fledged characters on their own.
