I'm fine with it, I won't be getting any headgear or uniforms any time soon but I've had little issue getting the operators I want to play as.

You'll be putting up twice the renown for one operator, but you can make that a little easier after a few hours in ranked play. You get two starter operators instead of just recruit, and you might have good or bad luck in its sorting. I got pre-patch pulse and thermite for my starting two, so one noob friendly and one not so noob friendly, but I was quick to catch on the role thermite plays in a standard team and I think i'm more competent than others as him because of that.

TLDR- get starter edition if you:
a.)want to play this game for a long time or as little as possible (though for the latter I suggest free weekend)
b.)don't mind grinding to unlock your operators
c.)have no money and are super desperate
d.)have money coming to you but still want to play the game before the inheritance arrives

DON'T get the starter edition if:
a.)you are a very impatient person
b.)you prefer cosmetics over mechanics
c.)you're conscious about getting memed on by your friends
d.)you have a life (this applies to both starter and standard edition, Siege is a veritable time-suck, you'll want to play for as long as your lungs draw breath, i'm serious.)

With starter edition you can get better with the operators that you have without the temptation to move to a newer, flashier one. If you ever get sick of it you can upgrade with the season pass at any time, which rebalances operator purchases to 1x from 2x. It really is meant to be upgraded later on but its completely optional to do so.
Hope this helped, I recommend starter edition for all goons, dummies, and unholy blasphemers like myself.

Have cover nearby that you can hide behind if one gets tossed at you. Doesn't need to be hard cover, just something that can break line-of-sight between you and the flash.

If you get flashed, know where your nearest room exit, or piece of hard cover is so that you can run to it when you get flashed. Re-locating while flashed is of course more difficult, but can be done with some practice.

Alternatively, hold an angle on the attacker entry point, and suppress the angle until the flash begins to wear off, making it more dangerous for the attackers to push you, despite the fact you can't see.

The absolute worst thing you can do, and I see people doing this alot, is to just freeze like a deer in headlights, or run straight into a wall. It makes you an easy pick. You should at the very least attempt to fire back, if you're lucky you'll kill the attacker when they push you, or at least put some damage on them which your team can benefit from.
