I think that's because at one point, the heavy and cold abyssals gave higher scaling than the number shown on the gem suggested. People weren't sure if it was a bug, and whether From would lower the scaling down, but instead they fixed the number displayed on the gem to match the scaling. Something like that, at least.

Vilebloods for extra Insight after killing Hunters. That includes most NPCs.

If there is one thing I do personally find to be flaw about Bloodborne is that it's camera lock-on is sometimes a bit of a liabilty.
It's just a minor nitpick really and it's only an issue against taller bosses like Cleric Beast, but it can get a little confusing when the enemy gets close to you.
There are ways around, you don't have to lock on, it s just a little unfortunate that the lock-on point is placed so high on the enemy.

As much as I agree with you on this, I managed to find a way around this. Lock on, and just don't worry about what you can't see, use what you can see (and in some cases hear) to its fullest.

By all accounts, this shouldn't work in the slightest, but I've found reasonable amount of success doing it. Basically, just use good timing to dodge when an attack is coming.

I fucking hate Winter Lanterns. I get three frenzy spikes through my head and frenzy will build up to 100%, even at only 3 insight and with crow's helmet and ashen hunter garb. I got both living failures and laurence on the first try, while I got ludwig in 10 and Kos tried 5 times before deciding it was too hard and started the chalices to get a oedon writhe and clawmark for effective parrying.

After getting the runes, I realized I couldn't parry him at all and beat him with the BoM, but it probably took more tries than Ludwig.

Drop rate is kinda poor but not as bad as other types like Adepts from my experience. I wouldn't say they're the easiest boss to farm but they are pretty easy.

Dumb question about gems: I'm farming bosses for arc gems at the moment, very new to it and the links in the OP don't specify exactly what it is I'm looking for.

I've been told I want a 27.2% triangle from Isz Watchers, but is that Arc scaling, because a chart from the OP says 'Damage type +27.2%'. I'm getting a bit lost with the terminology.

Is that two radials, one for scalingand one for +attack, one triangle for further scaling? How does scaling improve damage, exactly?

Pretty much, but for the Parasite one Cold Abyssal and a 23.1%+15 Arc Radial is better since the Parasite already has high scaling. 2 23.1%+15 Radials are a little better but one is enough.

Yeah Flat Arc. It's not too important since most of the Parasite's damage comes from % due to high modifiers so 22.5% is good enough. If you get a good gem with Dura Down its not bad on the Parasite since it has 600 Durability.

You can't use the BoM well without at least +6 and 25+ skill, but it has a pretty fantastic damage per stamina cost. It's mostly against hunter because of it's stun lock but it works well against monster thanks to it great range of dodge attacks with high damage multiplier, and safe continuations. Don't R1 combo unless you know you can reach the 4th hit, when it will start doing double damage.

I have a pure skill build, and the BoM, the BB, the Cane, the Reiter and the Rakuyo were all great weapons. I didn't have enough time with the Saif and Church Pick, but they also seem pretty good.
