Ive played through ds3 with black knight ultra gs and had tons of fun invading with it untill i hit sl 110 and had to fight no fun allowed meta duels which bacame boring really fast even though bkgs was still quite effective at this level.

So im thinking about making a low level dedicated invasion build around this weapon. Here are the stats

I don't find Anor Londo fun for invasions either, since the host is either going to have a PvP build, or be running straight for the fog with Solaire.

No max-levels are going to camp in New Londo to get invaded, and I like chasing Havels to the fog, while trying to get the Darkwraiths and Ghosts to help me.

I guess the depths or sens are better, but I prefer the aesthetic of New Londo.

Yes, it's good. Dex build only loses around 30 AR to quality with it. The biggest advantages of that thing is extreme range, it's by far the largest curved sword in its class, and also the ability to do r1-l2-r1 which allows it to reach and surpass typical damage output of curved swords with better AR. Plus WA looks fucking godly.

I'm at the end of my first run in Ds3 and really enjoyed the game. I don't have the DLC yet but I'm wondering what the better course of action might be:

If you want to do low level invasions the lowest you should go is SL36 (since SL35 and 36 are identical for invasion ranges, might as well grab the extra point) with +4 weapons (+2 for special weapons that only go up to +5).

You can invade crux woods, farron swamp, cathedral, and catacombs. Plenty of variety of places.

After that you are probably looking at SL50-60 +6, and then after that SL70 +8. Never go beyond that for invasions, and honestly I still feel like 70 +8 is pushing it and prefer SL60 +6 and lower.

Run away when that happens, throw on obscuring ring if you don't have it equipped already. Eventually the faithfuls will fight, then you can watch them instead. Either they win and you invade someone else or they lose and you can get back in the fight again with more estus.

What's worse is when the red-blues attack you instead of the host, but the same applies: just run away. If you get bored pull out a crossbow/firebombs or if they all come attack you if you're doing medium range shit, run far away and use a greatbow instead.

Halberds are the best weapons in the game imo, at any SL, for basically all of the reasons you listed.

The only way for me is to outspace. That will be kinda hard because GS also have one of the best space control in the game with the decent speed and wide range swings.
So you need to outplay the player more than the weapon in this case. Bait, juke and fool around. A crossbow alone will usually take half their HP and make them mad at the same time. Don't rush in if your weapon doesn't have UGS tiers of poise health.

Hard to say, I'm still testing charge. From what I've heard, you can charge a GS user and you'll win the trade, something I need to test with the LK Long Spear too. UGS's are just too slow to worry about most of the time anyways so they don't bother me, GS's are retarded S tier weapons now though with their staggered HA R1's into the two hit R1 R1 combo that takes out like half your life.

You're basically guaranteed to have the fast and good rolls with extremely lenient iframes right out of the gate without having to meaningfully compromise protection.

Also, the game guides the players through places where they're always expected to go by the developers so you can't really go into areas where you're not supposed to be at an SL where you can actually make progress.

Bonfires are also fairly frequent and status effects like poison and toxic are a joke.

Basically the most difficult thing in DS3 is adjusting your playstyle from DS1 to the new system. If you try to play DS3 like DS1, using your shield and blocking instead of relying on rolling, you're going to have a tougher time with DS3.

But if you already did Light armor+2 handing your weapon in DS1/Demon's Souls, you're going to be really proficient in DS3 right out of the gate.

Shields are literally broken in DS3 PvE, though. They're even great in PvP if you know how to manage your stamina properly and have the END stats for it.

I always wait a second to observe the situation before jumping in as Aldrich, just in case the host and the other Faithful are having an honoraburr duerr. If either of them sip, if the host has phantoms, or if the host is doing some cancer like CCS R1 spam or starts running away, then I'll jump in.

Or at least, that's how I did it before the DLC came out. For me the biggest downside of the arena is that I can no longer enjoy the occasional Aldrich invasion between red sign duels.

Any piece of equipment can be used for aesthetic purposes, if it works with the other pieces nicely. For example, the Father Mask and Eastern Set is stylish, sharing a similar brass tone, having similar curling details, and the mask back matching the pants. LKLS is my weaponfu, it's not as effective at high levels for invasions but it's actually extremely good at SL36 +4 if you know how to use it. I completely my entire first playthrough with just the LKLS 2H'd and gitting gud at rolls, only real issue with it is learning how to play around parrying.

It's probably the best greathammer in the game, but not that great. The 2hr2's have a nice hitbox. Since it's still a slow ultra weapon, the ball is in your opponents court as far as descision making goes, but if you're willing to gamble on that then you've generally got a good risk/reward ratio due to the damage, and it's generally useful when it comes to dealing with multiple people. Just never use the weaponart ever, as it replaces your R2's with far worse ones. If you want a decent weaponart on a greathammer, go for the spiked mace instead.

Still testing out iron round shield as a shield that can reasonably block and also parry, but honestly I don't think you even need a shield and I don't like to bother with parrying anyways. LKLS is generally best used 2H'd, mostly just have to learn how to play around parrying with running R2's and charged R2's and using the offhand xbow, and just running around and being unpredictable in general. A shield can help you if you're fishing for backstabs on parry fishers though.

that's for summon ranges, not invasion ranges. sl6 is the first level that can invade down one, sl16 is the first level that can invade down two. If you want to invade unleveled deprived characters you need to actually be sl1, but if you go to yuria and add on five levels you can still invade unleveled thieves, the second lowest class.

Instead of combo, UGS should pancake and/or knockback while using L2 modifier.
So instead of the useless meme stomp move, L2 should serve as a modifier for the regular swing, making it not do as much damage as 2HR1>R1, but causing the knockdown and maybe being faster.

Just keep trying honestly. Aldritch is a bit of an RNG fight in that he can be really easy if he doesn't use certain moves. For example, people always had trouble with the soul arrow bullshit but he never used that against me when I first faced him.
