Watch the first 2 or 3 enemy ults
If they time it well, ult prevention.
If they fuck up, your ult is what matters.

But in the end, ult-charging and -prevention should actually go hand in hand.
You're more useful if you do stable damage while trying to survive than going all the way in and being on the verge of death all the time

In the Ana/BeyBlade Meta, I avoided taking shots that I felt couldn't kill. Now I'm more liberal with dmg dealing. In general you should lean towards building your own ult.

I think the only character who suffers tremendously from "healing builds ult" is Junkrat. His spam technique makes it hard to confirm kills, and any smart player will use that damage to build support / zarya ult. Unlike Pharah, its very difficult for him to focus down a player, and more often than not, atleast at higher levels he ends up being a support ult battery.

In general though, you should always be shooting to kill. Healing in this game is pretty retarded.

Generally unless you're pretty certain you'll be able to kill/finish them off, the only reason you deal damage is to scare them off to avoid building their ults too much, Roadhog is a great example of supports getting easy ults off of him but DPS's getting fast ults aswell.

Another good example is Reinhardt's Firestrike, it's an quick and easy 100 dmg and you generally use it to build your ult and, when it's full, to slow down enemies that are bundling up ready to push at the first choke on eichenwalde for example. Hope that was some decent enough advice, friend!

Quick question anons, do you consider quick-melee to be bm'ing?

Trying to squeeze more damage out of Sombra I've tried to incorporate more melee when I can, but people tend to take exception to being melee'd dead, and they'll either go out of their way to retaliate, will teabag or even type abuse in chat

Quick-melee is good though, it saves time, ammo and timed right will guarantee the kill

I've noticed - I used to only see a GM player every now and then last season, but in almost every other QP match there's a GM. Grandmaster is a lot less exclusive but I don't think that's a necessarily a bad thing but it's a bit jarring.

Competitive at higher tiers isn't really enjoyable with the World of Tanks meta, either. I can probably get to GM in S6 or S7, though.

Since the meta was constructed around 'pro' plays, things are much less strict about who is a 100% absolutely necessary pick at the lower levels

That's another reason she is op, if McCree doesn't headshot or flash and ana doesnt grenade, Ana will win, she will also win if McCree doesn't double headshot and Ana grenades. She has no drop off damage and shoots faster than McCree, and has almost twice his shots not factoring his roll.

She also doesn't need to aim well, she gets projectile hit boxes with high speed, almost hitscan but better because you don't need to aim.
