tfw i have to have grapple because i feel slow if i dont. it gets me out of so many jams, but took me a long time to get decent with it. first hurdle is how vulnerable you are when its activated, but when you are on the run, nothing is faster. not to mention i found out if you cancel the hook early, you can recast for free, but still get the momentum.

After regening Ion, Tone and Scorch it's time to move onto Northstar. First impressions were good, I love one shotting pilots (much like Tones primary and Ions laser shot) but also dealing more damage to titans. However it feels as though I'm doing much less damage overall since you need to charge the shot. Is the charge time offset by the increased damage it'll do compared to firing straight away?

Also, Cluster missile seems woefully under-powered and only suited to clearing out grunts. Tether trap is from experience incredibly easy to get out of and hover feels pointless. Are these abilities used together in some way I'm not seeing here?

Cluster missiles are extremely powerful. Increased Payload (or whatever it is, the kit that improves your cluster missiles) makes the radius monstrous. Not only do they do respectable damage to titans in a pretty large area, but they'll pretty much kill any pilot you shoot them at before he can get out of range, and firing them in a window will wipe out everything in that room.

They're a solid ability.

I liked this free weekend but I really liked the first game's Titans more, both in handling and in looks.The giant glowing eye as the main ocular does nothing for me.
I want my Atlas/Accelerator MG/Vortex/Multi-lock/Warpfall back. I want to hear my titan say nice things to me while I operate with it. I want Vanessa and Jeeves and other language options back.
I want IMC to be a fucking option, not Ares or Apex or other middleman. Can I even get an IMC logo for my Titan or Pilot Card in this game?

The spawns being so close makes the first part of the fight just a huge clusterfuck, and if you don't win it there, chances are you're just fucked for the rest of the game.

The set up for it is great, I'd love to have more maps where it's clear that one team has the position, and the other team is trying to take it, but don't have it start with both spawns right fucking on top of each other, Jesus.

B3 is your standard magnum. Slow rate of fire, pretty wide hip-fire spread (unless you're sliding, where it's inexplicably very accurate), high damage.

The Wingman Elite is a pocket Kraber. It's a projectile (but a very fast one), and it's a two-shot on the body or a one-shot on the head. Its reticle is a fucking dot, there's practically no spread.

So Elite it is, I can put up with projectile travel time. I like to hipfire a lot in this game and the sights on the B3 are not very good.

So is it just me or is the melee lunge lock on completely sporadic on when it works and when it doesn't? I've had cases where it's turned me a good 15 degrees to hit someone and other times I'm just punching the air because the target was slightly away from the center of my screen.

Four shots is enough to get you your rlrvytiv smoke. You can reload while Phase Dashing. Don't forget Arc Wave exists. You have tools to disengage if you're not going to be able to kill them, and you're fast enough to stay on them if you can.

Ronin isn't a top-tier Titan, but I can tell you you're definitely doing it wrong if you're just beelining towards enemies and wailing on them with your sword. There is room for improvement there.

The cone of fire for most weapons is tight, hip or sighted. Only a few are really inaccurate enough that you would need to use your sights.

You can narrow it down to:
>three-point crosshair?
A few degrees of spread from the hip, tighter than the three lines would suggest. The first few shots are tight, so firing in bursts can help. Good

>Is it a < > crosshair? (Flatline, Alternator)
VERY accurate to the dot in the middle, but it kicks sideways a lot.

>Four-point crosshair?
Its spread is likely shit from the hip, but the LMGs are pinpoint when sighted.

Any weapon with a uniquely designed shot grouping like the Mastiff is perfectly accurate relative to the crosshair (Mastiff's grouping is half as wide when sighted).
Anything with a simple circle or a dot is pinpoint accurate.

As for the Grenadiers
EPG is pinpoint, hip or zoomed.
Cold War has random spread with its three shots regardless.
MGL and Softball are almost perfect, hip or sighted.
SMR expands out to several degrees at the hip, but is pinpoint when sighted.

How to eliminate enemies and titans with Ion? Always played Scorch and whenever some pilot bitch tries to grapple or rodeo me I just turn on my flame shield and they roast, and the thermite launcher along with his canisters and flame wall do pretty amazing damage in a short amount of time. But Ion doesn't seem to do lots of damage really quick unless she has her laser core.

Your shoulder-laser is your bread and butter. Huge damage, forgiving hitbox, infinite range, and hitscan. Your energy should be split between that and your vortex shield. The splitter rifle's alternate fire, as it stands right now, is just a waste of energy compared to those two extremely powerful abilities.

Peek around corners and shoot titans in the crit-spot with your laser. It does stupid amounts of damage and builds your core quickly. Use your vortex shield to get the fuck out if they try to get in your face. When your core is up, go barf it out on someone's face.

Ion is all about the Vortex shield and predicting large rounds of fire, then being gud enough to throw them back.

I mean, it honestly depends on your playstyle. We've said it before but the Titan Kits do a lot to change gameplay style.

Ion's main strength is resource management that lets you stack on abilities in a more straightforward manner (no Scorch AoE or Tone tracking or anything) but lets you operate sort of efficiently at any range.

Here's my general rundown of the abilities unspecced:
>Splitter rifle altfire
A good go to for dealing with Titans at Close Distance, along with Pilots
>Laser cannon
Again, good for Pilots but also great for mid-long range Titan poking
>Trip Wire
Your close-range or anti-ambush tool

>Laser Core
Good in any situation you can make contact with enemies.

I'll sum Ion up as the one who is best when they aren't being kited or hit from sides they cant defend.

Make sure you've got no one behind you and you can lock down 2-3 titans easy

I had that kind of moment today, I managed to defeat 5 titans singlehandedly, 2 of them where low so I hunded them down first with some spliter shots to doom them untill mid bar and finish them with laser shots, then I used my laser core to doom 2 other so I could melee them but got doomed while trying to get the last 1 and killed him with the nuclear eject, shit was amazing

Arc grenade the first group and also the group that's bunched in the canyon.

The holos also die as soon as they're touched so just use the auto-shotgun because it's got a huge ass spread.

Other than that just make sure to always be wallrunning or jumping between wall runs, if you have have to be on the ground for some reason make sure to slide hop

One more thing actually, you can wall run in the prep room to get a fast start into the gauntlet.

Maybe my audio is messed up. But it definitely felt like they had a more personal feel in 1. That one titan voice that would say "welcome back, I missed you" when you got in and would tell you to be careful and shit was a nice touch.

The trial weekend is glorious, there's so many noobs running around. I'm finally seeing how much fun I would be having with this game if there wasn't skill based matchmaking.

A big part of it is that there are no Custom OS this time.

If they add those back, like 2 optional ones for each Titan along with the default ones for each skin, then I wager you'd be able to get more emotion too.

Honestly, with all the care that went into giving the multiplayer this much more personality over other FPS multiplayers, Respawn would gain a lot of retention if they added more on that front since it adds to the Multiplayer-as-Roleplaying-Singleplayer motif.

Is the cold war any good? I am hideously bad at killing pilots. I just hate how I can turn a corner and some guy can be in a window somewhere which I don't know and just kill me instantly. Like nothing could have been done to prevent that.

I am trying to get into using grenadier weapons. So far, I really like A-wall, I like it because it allows me to stand my fucking ground and area deny which is what I like doing. I don't mind going fast and fully capable of going fast but you can only go so fast in this game and unfortunately hitscan is always faster.

SMR is Titan melters if you can learn to break line of sight and keep mobile, but is absolutely trash at killing pilots who go fast until you get the hang of its travel time

Cold War is fantastic at wiping NPCs in Bounty and Attrition but can get you easily killed by pilots. Not very good at melting titan either.'

Softball is same category as EPG but also better at taking out waves.

Grenadier's are generally high skill high damage so really A-Wall will only increase this at the cost of making you vulnerable to flanks.

I remember Respawn saying there is, and I definitely experience it day to day. I was pretty much unbeatable at Titanfall 1, but I lose terribly at Titanfall 2. I can tell it's because the game is matching me up with better opponents (and teammates)

Easy to live with. Not him but I kill people at all ranges with the weapon, the thing is that it's kind of rhythmical and alternates between one side and the other of recoil so you can kinda compensate for it by strafing and adjusting your aim side to side.

Yeah I know what you mean more than a handful of times the stars aligned against me and my enemy strafed in the opposite direction of the recoil so I missed every single shot and died like a bit, but 99% of the time it's easy kills.
I keep getting tripple and quad kills back to back with this thing.
