Everybody else is facing the same constraint so it balances itself out. For the most part you get a routine down for early game, and then when full scale war breaks out you learn what is important and what isn't very quickly. You also start taking advantage of time, how do you think a France player feels watching panzers roll towards Paris on speed 3?

All that said, I'll fully admit that 50%+ of players have very little idea of what they are doing and play some shitty minor and just slow down the game for no reason. Shit, a common mistake one or both sides make is forgetting to put planes in the air.

If the province borders look jagged, like they are "missing antialising", then it's most likely a problem with provinces.bmp
It has some very specific requirements when you save it and some programs change that, so it causes that problem and the crash. I use Photoshop CS6 but people report success with GIMP and Paint.Net, but you need to know the specific parameters when saving the files for GIMP and I don't know since Photoshop doesn't screws anything when I'm map editing.
