Map Edition
Tips:
You can change vocations at level 10 at the Gran Soren inn or BBI.
Character appearance can be changed later on.
You don't need pawns, but they help.

I declare this thread mine.
What kind of mods are you guys running, if any?
Anyone else find Mystic Knight kind of dull? Maybe I should give it a run through BBI to really give it a shot, but it always seems like just buffing up and spamming GC is your best option.
>>161717304
Low-end ones mostly. Legendary Dark Arisen is my current haunt.
What's he saying during the cutscene where he eats your heart? I know it's latin but I don't know if anyone even attempted to translate it.
>>161718012
Isn't it the message he leaves behind in your chest cavity?
>>161717490
>and spamming GC
That's your problem. The most fun way to play MK is buffed melee+ripostes.
>>161718478
I dunno, that's why I wanna know
>>161716747
Is that really the whole map of the game?
>get piece of equipment early in game
>three star ranking requires some obscure and rare drop from a monster you won't encounter until almost twenty hours later
>by which time you can easily buy a new piece of equipment that outperforms that one and can be three-starred with common bullshit
What.
How much flexible is the game with jobchanging? I like all the jobs in general and I enjoy fooling around with them but I don't really think I can commit to an specific job or an specific build. Can you unlock and play all the jobs without severely gimping your character?
>>161718931
The general consensus is that min-maxing is not very important due to powerful endgame equipment. Just make sure you aren't neglecting stats that you want to make use of later.
>>161718931
>Can you unlock and play all the jobs without severely gimping your character?
Yes. Your stats likely won't be perfectly optimal, but the difference between perfectly optimal and completely shit is relatively minor, and even perfectly optimal builds still require you to switch a few times. The main game generally isn't too difficult regardless and BBI will give you gear that is vastly more important than your stats. You're intended to change vocations a fair bit and are even rewarded with augments that can be applied to any class. Biggest issue will likely be getting decent gear for your new class and upgrading it, but that's not a huge problem.
>>161718880
No, there's morewe just never got any of it
>>161719316
That sucks.
I've been loving this game so far, but to realise that I've already explored 50% of the world after 12 hours is a bit of a let down.
>>161719143
Still, minmaxing can be a fun challenge.
Pure 10-200 assassin is just silly in terms of pure attack power. 956 base STR with fighter start.
I can't put my finger on it but my Arisen looks like someone famous. I just can't figure out who.
>>161719504
Looks a bit like Clementine from West World.
If you made the eyes bigger anyway.
>>161719316
>all those missing areas.
Jesus, modders should really take a break from Skyrim and make a worthy mod for DD.
When you change vocations (to unlock augments/etc) and then change back, do you have to start over on your old vocation if you switch back?
I'm a Strider, and I like playing as Strider, but wouldn't mind some new augments. So if I switch to something else to get some new augments, then switch back to Strider, will my vocation level reset to 1? Will I have to re-learn all my skills?
Also, do skills also carry over between vocations, or just augments?
>>161719670
Maeve as Arisen and Clementine as main pawn would fit strangely well in those roles.
>>161720392
You keep all your progress. I believe skills will stay if both classes can use them, but obviously class-exclusive skills won't. There's no real penalty for switching other than potentially needing new gear and minor stat differences when you level. Augments even encourage it.
>>161720303
Without tools? Good luck.
I'm at the point when Madeline and caxton are asking for Idols. Which should get the gold one?
>>161721191
http://dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Gold_Idol
Check what stuff you want.
>>161721191
You couldcheatand give them both a real gold idol.
>>161720303
Might as well just make something similar to DD thenwhich I really want to do if I ever get around to making my dream gamecouple the world/exploration/combat of this game with the graphics of a late 90's 3D game sinceI adore that style of graphics
I really just gotta dive in and learn some programming one of these days.
Help, I can't stop ogling my arisen
Which skills does a fighter pawn need?
so how do I use skeleton keys?
no spoilers please I'm a newbie but I have one in my inventory and came across a cell door looking door and it says "you don't have a key to open this" when I press circle but I have a skeleton key in my inventory. there is no "use" option for the key. would the door open when I press open with a key in my inventory if it were a door openable with a skeleton key or am I missing something?
>>161723132
Doors you can open with a skeleton key will automatically do so upon interaction.
So if you bench your pawn do they not gain XP/DCP? I'm gonna try soloing this playthrough.
>>161718646
Aren't I just kind of playing a fighter with buffs I need to reapply every minute or two then?
>>161723048
pls help m8s.
>>161725823

Is there a mod that makes you see the amount of damage of the hits?
Should I start my first playthrough on hard mode or is it just no fun allowed artificial difficulty?
>>161729828
Don't. You'll be oneshotted early on but because of double exp and lots more money drops you'll soon outlevel mobs and it'll turn to easy mode.
Normal is fine.
Bit of a bizzare question but I'm doing a sort of roleplaying run. Is there any outfit that incorporates Bells in any fashion?
Do I really need to loot everything?
This is getting pretty boring
I was kind of upset about how easy it is to make money, than the everfall merchant almost cleaned me out with 4 mil worth of gear.
Good thing i saved up...
>>161734762
Nope
just loot whatever material it is you need to upgrade your equipment
>>161718478
in the latin part he says grigori at one point tho
So I've been playing FFXV lately, and got reminded of Dragon's Dogma by a very neat mechanic.
Namely, one of the characters in this game will periodically just take photos from his perspective, and show them off at the end of the day.
I imagine it'd be interesting to see what our pawns might photograph on their journeys.
I've tried a few ENB, but they always fuck up the way dark scenes look. Is it like this with all of them?
>>161718903
the choice is yours, arisen...
>>161718012
Found this on Grigori's page of the wiki
>>161734687

>>161739547
Selfcest is the purest form of love.
So I have a pair of hellfire boots now. They don't fit ANYTHING I own but that wind resistance is too good to pass up.
It's incredible, dragons are a total cakewalk with this shit.
>>161739720
I would say in his .arc (em7000 and 7001) alongside his model.
>tfw you realize you can literally just walk five feet away from Death whenever he does anything
>tfw even your pawn starts juking his retarded assfor a bit
>tfw you do barely any damage to him but you still send that little bitch home crying
>>161726536
Dragon's maw mainly, make sure to take no shield skills because it makes your pawn perfect block more
>pawn returned with 3 stars and no gift
O-okay.
>Buy new weapon and max it
>Get a better weapon of the same class in a chest a few minutes later
>>161746246
Remember:
Style>Stats
>>161740189When you beat the game online your arisen and pawn are uploaded and anyone beating the game in newgame+ while online will fight someone else's arisen and pawn. If you beat newgame+ offline you fight your previous self.
So I remember you can get lewd clothing from the female bandit camp, but don't remember how exactly. Is it from the quest by the other bandit dude?
>>161747468
From one of the chests in the fort.
>>161747795
Cool, thanks.
>>161746356
for armor, yea, but for weapons you want the higher stats
>>161746441
oh that's pretty rad
Back when I played this on console I specifically remember when buying and withdrawing stacks of items that holding the direction for a while would start making the number move at super speed but now on pc it never seems to go any faster. Is there any way to fix this or was it removed for some reason? I figure on pc it would let me just type in a number but that doesn't work either.
>>161746356
>Style>Stats
Wait what?
Why?
Aren't stats important ESPECIALLY for armor?
>>161753598
Once you've got great weapons and skills and you're high enough level to get semi-decent nice looking armour, it's better to just go with that to look cool since no matter what you're wearing everything is easy anyway.
>>161753598
Nah.
Style always beats stats.
DD is only hard if you want to solo as a mage or warrior.
>>161754983
>holy focused bolts
>hard
People only say mage is bad because sorcerer is better in every way. It's still leagues ahead of fighter and warrior in terms of ease.
Starting the game for the first time.
Wanted to play MK but because they look retarded, attacking using one hand with the off-hand free while they carry their fuckhuge shields on their backs and teleport them while blocking seriously what the fuck, i decided to play fighter instead with a strider pawn.
My question is, how fucked will i be if don't plan to summon other pawns?
Are there any fully physical immune enemies that i can't deal with by using items or inherently enchanted weapons?
>>161755975
Most ghost types will be slow but doable, but good luck with wraiths. You can always run past though.
>>161746441
Wait seriously?
That's actually really cool, i never knew about this.
Shame the best difference in NG+ is literally the last minute of the game.
>>161745607
I mean, beside Dragon's maw. About the shield skills, isn't Sheltered Spike good?
>>161755963
Mage is ok at buffing and healing.
But that's boring without serious co-op.
Otherwise Sorcerer is better in every way, as you said.
>>161745929
> and no gift
Well, I haven't gifted becuase I have no idea what I should gift, what's considered a decent/interesting gift?
>>161753598
Not if you dont get hit.
>>161757950
Vocation?
>>161758284
Pretty sure that's Assassin
>>161725823
abysmal anguish is one of the best skills
Use burst strike or a core skill with it to watch Cursed Dragons drop.
Stone forest when upgraded to tier 3 is like a mini wide-range arc of obliteration
Still set-up
Shield:
Riposte of choice(dark is great and causes Topor)
Enchant of choice(holy is best all-around)
Abysmal Anguish
Sword:
Full Moon slash
Burst Strike
Stone forest or Great Cannon
This is one of the best set-ups for damage or fun. The last sword skill can also be ruinous sigil. It doesn't have any air offense but devours Gore Cyclopes and their armour in BBI
If you roll with a strider or ranger pawn you'll never be out matched. Abysmal Anguish also increases the hit-box for your slashes so you'll never need to climb a dragon again. Full Moon Slash to the heart and watch it reel.
>>161757437
it's fine but your pawn perfect blocking almost every attack is better
>>161732234
No bells. There is a good range of stuff though.
http://dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Complete_Armor_Sets
>>161716747
I'm about to play DD for the first time.
I want to make a warrior.
Now, the question is, what do I do about my pawn? I don't like healing with items, because it takes too much time and effort to prepare them and use them during fights.
So, should I make my pawn a healer or rather something else (what would be a good one for a warrior?) and use a pawn from the Rift for healing?
>>161759275
Healer is fine; Mage pawn. You'll need magick for ghosts and certain enemies that take little to no physical damage.
You can also give your pawn healing items and the Magnanimous Cloak and they'll heal the entire party each time they heal. Works with every vocation.
Warrior is tough for a first run, learn to exodus slash like a pro.
>>161722861
Whats that ENB? anytime I try one theres grain everywhere and the depth of field doesnt focus on my Arisen.
>>161722861
that shit is way too bright
>>161759843
Ok, thanks.
I don't mind it being tough, as long as it's fun.
If I take my pawn's daggers, will she only use her bow? Or will she try to climb and punch things?
Also, do I use sapfire dagger or framae blades with magick archer?
This game is confusing as fuck
I don't get the whole pawn thing, do I have to change them every level up?
About the items I find around, how do I avoid the clutter and always being overburdened, I swear to god I'm passing more time in my inventory trading thigns between characters than playing the fucking game
Is there a respec sort of thing for my main pawn?
>>161766783
Yes.
You will always have to deal with encumbrance unless you play as a 7ft tall giant.
No.
>>161766783
Try to answer as good as I can!
>I don't get the whole pawn thing, do I have to change them every level up?
Not your main pawn. It levels with you.
If you rent a pawn, they will stay at their level, even if the person leveled it up. You need to send it away first and basically rent it anew from the rift.
>About the items I find around, how do I avoid the clutter and always being overburdened, I swear to god I'm passing more time in my inventory trading thigns between characters than playing the fucking game
Prepare yourself Arisen!
No Joke. Inventory managment is key!
Put all the materials i the bank. If you scavange around, you can be overburden, but if you are questing and need to fight against monster this is a really really bad idea!
>Is there a respec sort of thing for my main pawn?
Yeah kinda.
You can change it's voacation/hob in an inn at any time. Also don't worry too much about their skills. Take a look at them and choose what you think is okay. Sooner or later you will be able to buy them all anyways.
Also, once you change their vocation/job you can only use the skills made for this vocation. Healing while being a Strider will not work
>>161766783
1. Your pawn levels with you. Rift pawns or others do not level with you. They work pretty good within 10 levels (replace at 10, 20, 30, etc)
2. You can drop items off at any inn and most camp sites. If a pawn leaves they send all items to your storage they find. If you gift a pawn armour that is not your own, they'll keep it. However if they pick up a piece of gear and you don't equip it on them you'll get it in your storage when they leave.
3. You can't respec stats but you can change vocations/class at Gran Soren after escorting the Hydra's head.

Do ENBs still increase load times a ton?
Should I start the game in hard mode? Is it even worth doing? From what i've heard the games gets stupid easy after a bit because of the xp
>>161771729
yep
load times are a littler over a minute for me
>>161760634
I'm fairly certain it's Rudy ENB but I might be wrong. I haven't touched DD in a while so other than the big compilation and the watermark removal I don't remember what mods I had on this.
>>161772030
Hard is tough early on, once you get good gear it's not too bad.
I played on hard mode in my first run but had to switch to normal during Grigori. I had no idea about Wakestones at that time and I was around level 50.
Hard mode is really tough for Warriors because of the increase of knockdown resistance enemies get.
WORST part is the increase stamina drain. It's like fighting monsters while having Asthma.
Normal is fine. You can also work with low end gear if you want to keep a challenge.
>>161739387
Someone needs to go and rip that dialogue file or try and record that with the music/SFX turned off. What format does MT frameworks tend to use for sound?
>>161718012
I just realized that from the moment Grigori is deposited into the world up until he meets you his eyes are clouded over and he acts like a mindless beast. Then when you stab him that first time and after he takes your heart his eyes go back to normal and he stops trashing everything in his path.
I posted these sick tips last thread but nobody replied or cared, so here's try number two.
Here's two pro tips for the pros for one room in BBI.
1. When you get to the room with the big chained up spikelops, there is a chest at the very top on a ledge with a wizard on it. Without double jump you can't make this ledge, BUT there is a way to get to it still. One option is just jumping on the gargoyle and aiming him correctly, but what if you had to kill the gargoyle or your dumbass pawn did? Save, stand on the top bridge facing the ledge, and grab onto the closest corpse hanging from a chain. When you start hitting it, you'll spin around really fucking fast. It's gonna take a few tries to get the timing down but it's possible (I've done it) to corpse swing your way onto that ledge and get a level 1 trinket or something terrible I'm sure.
2. That cyclops can take forever or is impossible if you're underleveled or undergeared, but what if I told you that you can dragon-forge AND kill the cyclops with no effort on your part? After you completely kill the room and open the chests and then go into the shit-river and throw the little roaches off the ledge and get all the chests, there's a decent chance that on your way out of the room (assuming you didn't kill the cyclops) one of those super death dragons will spawn and murder you. If you run the fuck out and save somewhere, though, that dragon's missed attacks will trigger the spikelops and the two will murder eachother in a little while. Of the three or four times I've done this the dragon always loses first, and as long as you helped a little bit your shit will get dragonforged. Then you just kill the seriously wounded spikelops and boom, for little effort you've just leveled up and dragonforged yourself at an extremely underleveled level! This trick also works if you use bait.
>>161757826
Anyone?
>>161754983
solo warrior isn't hard if you know what you're doing, exodus slash gives him generous on demand iframes, and jump attacks buttfuck everything. You only need an elemental sword/hammer or surging light tomes for the living armors but that's the only time you really need to change up tactics.
>>161773126
>sick tips
nah
>>161773126
A lot of players know about it, like how Death will also kill mobs for you too.
Low-level BBI runs are fun as hell though. It's almost rogue-like since wakestones are so rare early on.
BBI is really a treat as it rewarded vets of the game by forcing them to think about the details. The Macabre Statues were fun to find, Seeker tokens 2.0
>>161757826
depends on how poor you are
>>161773316
Mods makes Warriors cool again:
Get the input hook mod to allow Warriors to use shields with their longsword/hammer
>>161771328
Make shield invisible for max style
http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma/mods/331/?
the input also allows you to use skills for weapons/shields if in a different class. Get cool set up
Shield
1. Cymbal onslaught -Instant punch that can lead into a combo. Great for quick hits and combo starting
2. Moving Castle -Quick dash for evade or closing in on fast enemies
3. Staredown -Up that attack for more damage
Longsword/Hammer
1. Exodus Slash -OP
2. Corona Slash -Crowd clearer and get follow up to moving castle
4. Arc of Destruction -Because you're playing a Warrior for a reason
You can now enjoy a 6 skill warrior who isn't jumping in the sky all the time.
You can also swap the shield for a bow/Magick Shield/Magick Bow
Is it worth upgrading the Rusted Greatsword to +3? I just put it to +2 and the poison is a'ight.
>>161774557
This would actually be cool for a fist run with the shield skills on one hand. Or a shield-only run.
>>161774730
Dragon forge it for Topor and Poison, otherwise you'll be gimping yourself. Rusted weapons are best for pawns since they have low-damage but ailments can help while you're whacking away with something stronger.
>>161774914
Making daggers invisible is the best unarmed-like mod. All of the daggers' skills look like martial arts already.

You should be able to buy the item no problem. Is there an error message or anything? I know if you start to swap a mod over a different item (Using the magick shield modded file in place of the regular shield file) it will crash. ''
One of the issues might be a texture file bug. But that should be fixed and usually only occurs if you edit the ARC file personally.
>>161779738

>>161782678
If you google "dragon's dogma cheat engine" like the first thing links to a cheat engine table that has a load of different things it can do.
Like keeping your hp from going below 1/immunity to Death's Scythe, time slowdown like bullet time, some camera options, removing voation limits on items and a bunch of other stuff.
The one you'd want for giving several gold idols would be using the Inf Item Usage script which lets you use arrows/consumables/riftstones/gifts as many times you want with only 1 of it. But for wakestones you have to use the other Inf. Item script which is like right next to it on the table.
>>161782717
Hmm... I know if the ARC file isn't repacked with a proper directory listing it will error out on the textures.
It should be:

It's actually the 2nd table on the first google response. The one that has a giant list of what it does in the same post as the download for it.

Right now, I'm rocking some Scalding Razors as my daggers on my Strider. I just unlocked new gear at all the shops, including new daggers that have a higher Strength, but it'll drop my Magick stat from 415 to 191.
As a Strider, do I need Magick? I tried reading the stats description on the wiki, but am still unsure. It says that Magick increases the damage of magical weapons, do they mean just stuff like staves and magic bows, or do they mean magically enchanted normal weapons too?
>>161792491
The wiki still has some misinformation on it from when the game was console only. PC allowed people to test things much better. You can give yourself 10k base magic attack and you will still do the same damage as 300 base magic attack with enchanted weapons.
>>161792214

Finally hit lv200 on PC.
Anyone got a guide to modding a pawn's knowledge? Not going through the insane bullshit of 3 starring every single fucking enemy again, fuck no. That shit was bad enough on PS3.
I STILL don't know how I got 3 star Death.
>>161792491
Elemental weapons don't actually scale with your magic attack, the stat screen makes it look confusing.
Elemental weapons are mostly for exploiting weaknesses, so your damage will vary depending on resistances.
It's a shame that certain element weapons are low tier and don't get an upgrade.

I've been wondering about those special post-game dragons.
Their dialogue made the fights feel kind of tragic, you know? I know the real Dragon is a failed Arisen, but what about the lesser ones? They act all confused about what's going on.
Maybe they're pawns of failed Arisens? Or something else?

>>161795787
Failed Arisen that didn't even make it to the Seneschal.
Drakes = Red Vocations
Wyrms = Blue Vocations
Wyverns = Yellow Vocations
>>161797248
Yeah, that makes sense.
Also makes me feel kinda bad for killing the special ones. At least they served as a test for another Arisen.
Is warrior even worth playing? I tested it a bit and it feels so weak and so slow. I don't like it but I always play big weapon character so it feels odd to stick with fighter
>>161799132
It's extremely powerful at max vocation rank. Especially good coupled with fighter augments. It might not be fun to you, I can't answer that, but it certainly isn't weak nor slow, that's objective.
>>161799132
Warrior has some great augments, so it's worth playing for that alone. At low vocation rank it does feel underwhelming, though.
Personally i'm not a huge fan of the playstyle, but you get some good moves once leveled, and some pretty crazy damage potential if you can land your big hits.
The lack of ranged skills makes certain fights tough, but it's got some great power.
>>161799326
How would you recommend building a warrior?
live now
twitch tv/illholdthemoff
>>161799397
Warriors have high HP stat growth and mediocre defense. Playing a mix of fighter for defense, warrior and possibly assassin for the strength gains would give you a solid balance of stats. You'd want clout, vehemence, proficiency is good too.
As for skills, I don't remember the exact names of the maxed ones, but I believe it's act of atonement and possible full-moon or corona slash, the one that makes you do a full circle with your blade. Does a massive amount of AOE damage.
>>161799132
It is by far the worst class in the game, but only because most of the other classes are so ridiculously strong. It's still good enough to get through the game and bbi. Just don't play on hard mode because it completely screws over warrior's specialty in staggering and knocking down enemies.
>>161799634
>worst class
That's Mage, don't kid yourself.
>>161772501
The only hard thing about hard Grigori is his Holy Furor with a bullshit range.

>>161800282

Hah. Warrior, you could make a case for being somewhat even in damage with Mage. But fighter? No. Not even slightly. Are you level 11?

Ok now I'm confused again...
first time playing the game here, grigori just told me i wasn't ready, but then challenged me? i have the final quest but i've been on and off putzing around in BBI. i know there's "post dragon" gameplay, but should i play through BBI before i do that? i feel a little underleveled, but i'm having fun. also i'm a little confused as to the true goal of BBI.
>dark arisen is probably exactly what is sounds

>>161803826
RC mostly comes from rentals. If you're on pc post your pawns level name and class and someone might try to find you. Remember to rest at an inn to update the server first. If you're on console it's easier and you can post your gamertag or psn id and people can directly search it.Or you can use dinput8.dll mod to cheat rift crystals if pawn whoring is too much trouble.
>>161803826
Check the Pawn Guild. From a Different Sky quests are a decent source of RC early on.
So If i want to start a NG+ on Hard Mode do I have to load game and use my cleared save THEN re-start in hard mode or can I just choose Hard Mode from the main menu?

Thanks, Fighter's kit does look more appealing to me than MK's (style-wise). MK looks stronger, but I guess that doesn't matter (first playthrough on normal).
What about Assassin for S&B? And is Assassin's stat growth (just stats, not the vocation itself) better for a S&B build? I've heard STR/STAM is more important than HP/DEF.
>>161811792
The stats really don't matter as much as you think it does.
Dragon's Dogma is not a hard game.
Just pick a style that looks fun to you.
Min maxing is just going to make the game even easier.
str/stam is slightly better most of the time because it makes encounters shorters for obvious reasons but it really doesn't matter much.
Pretty much every class has a gamebreaker and with 2 pawns on your side you have so much room for error.

>>161842748
>No, are you climbing stuff and whacking the shit out of it's weakspot?
Yeah I am, but my pawn casts bolide or gicel and it does more damage than my melee attack can. I'm fighter/assassin so it's not like I lack attack power.
She melted the two griffins that we encountered before I even had a chance to get a good hit off - shot one off the air with bolide. And she was the only one do decent damage to the dragon thing near the shadow fort place, while I was chipping at it's heart. Sorcerers seem much more powerful.
I hope you liked our game. Have a classic Rook goal.

Bow/dagger classes are the strongest in the game. Maybe you're using bad skills. For assassin I would say the good ones are 5fold, mighty bend, hundred kisses, masterful kill, gale harness, powder blast, dire gouge, and showdown. Try some blast arrows with 5fold if you really want to break the game.
>>161844817
you're overthinking.
play what you find fun/enjoy
if you really want to grind a bunch of vocation ranks, its easy enough to do once you hit "post-game"
>>161833547
Skill rings make a big difference:
Powder charge will help clear crowds. With the ring everything is nearly instant and even has decent knockdown
Hindsight sweep when upgraded to tier 3 with the ring is much better than clairvoyance. You get a quick dodge and two slashes. You can actually direct the slashes so it helps you cover the field
Third skill is up to you. Full moon is always useful. Avoid Dire gouge on hard. The stagger damage is much tougher to pull off. You'll usually get grabbed or tossed.
Bows are basically fivefold and whatever
You have no magic option so make sure to carry a magick pawn or some spell tomes for ghosts and such

Broad Slash is a decent alternative to hindsight, no i-frame but quick escape.
Antler Toss can be pretty good with it's high knockdown. Takes a few hits on hard but paired with powder charge you'll be able to keep enemies from swarming.
Powder charge is great because you can set it up and lure enemies to it or use it as a get out of mobs card if place next to you. Wonderful when you're sniping and enemies rush your position.

Magick archer has the worst stat growth out of all the vocations, but it's nothing that 50 levels of Sorcerer can't fix. It's best to use MA for crowd control, mob staggering and elemental weaknesses. If you want to know what type of element each spell has, here's the list: http://dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Magick_Archer

Question for the /vg/ experts. Recently a thread on /v/ said to take away the secondary weapon from my pawn. Is this to keep them focused on the class I want them to evolve into, keep them out of my way in battles, or make them less shit????
>>161881167
to make them use their primary more often probably. What class are they
>>161881386
I just started playing again with a fresh character so Im kind of going in blind(I never got very far). My current pawn is a Strider. This wasn't an ongoing conversation I had in the old thread. Just kind of lurking it and based on that wanted a pawn that sat back with the bow and played pseudo DPS.
>>161881545
No, let your pawn use both weapons. Both daggers and bows are good for them. If you switch them to a ranger then maybe consider but I've never seen any conclusive evidence that going without daggers improves them
>>161881780
I've tried the no daggers thing on a ranger pawn and they still occasionally climb enemies.
>>161881842
the climbing AI has to be bugged, like for dragonkind
>>161881545
For a strider (or any bow user) it could make sense if you wanted to make sure they weren't ever running in for some dagger action and were only using ranged attacks. Same could be said for the staff/dagger classes later down the line to make sure they're only spellcasting or daggering. As both primary and secondary weapons represent a combat ability list each, removing one of them reduces pawn impact a great deal, not to mention it won't stop a pawn from running in to punch something unarmed.
A pawn's particular actions during combat won't affect how they level, but can impact their inclination (i.e. their priorities during combat, be they healing, attacking, gathering, etc). Inclination is something that you can take direct control of once you make it to the first major waypoint on the map, I forget the name. Once there you can purchase items to set you primary pawn's inclination in the event that it's not where you want it.
>>161881964
>Same could be said for the staff/dagger classes later down the line to make sure they're only spellcasting or daggering.
Magic archer is player only.

Pretty much. I'm only at lv 14, and I have already enough money to buy more cloth than I need just for fashion purpose and to gift some new gears to the rented pawn. I still can't buy everything I want but the money are enough to dick around and have fun.

Though, I'll actually probably get more hires if she looks aesthetic than I will if she has 100% sleep resist.

>>161895339
They're on your friend's list so you get hires for free. You'd have to pay a ridiculous amount of RC to get him otherwise. They're going to play the game for you if you keep them.
I am become anime, destroyer of seneschals
>>161895339
If their owners are on your friends list, hiring them is free. However, if you hire a pawn above your level, you take a 1% xp penalty per level difference up to 25% total. You will have a 50% xp penalty for hiring those two. Inversely, hiring pawns under your level has the same effect, capping out at 25% bonus xp. If you don't use one of your two slots for pawn hires, each one you don't use counts for 25% bonus xp.
>>161895410
Oh, so those were my friends' pawns, good to know.
And of course I'm not going to play like this. I'd rather keep the pawns around my level.

Assassin is better at climbing damage, has the counter moves and amazing physical stats. Also a lot of different playstyles.
Ranger is the most boring class in the game, spam 10-fold all day long, but it's strong and utterly broken OP with blast arrows.
Strider is the most fun out of them and yeah Helm Splitter is ridiculously strong. For ranged skills you have fracture and downpour, both are great.

Been playing for 34 hours and got some questions because I don't know if I'm missing something.
Are there few spells per vocation?
Do archmages not have healing?
Are pawns stupid?
Can I easily get pawns to loot stuff themselves (They refuse apples even if I walk over it several times)?
Why is there a severely overpowered princess dress in my storage?
Been having tons of fun exploring, but sometimes game feels weird.
Should I bother doing the escort missions or doing them will only just end up messing up with who ends up becoming the beloved?
>>161933930
each vocation has quite a few abilities
archmages dont have direct healing
pawn AI is dictated by their inclinations, if its overly dumb then probably the pawns have bad primary & secondary inclinations
pawns seem to loot of their own will from my experience

>>161944792
Just play whatever class you want. It doesn't really matter. Feel free to switch it up often as well, especially since you get sweet augments.
If my level 110-120 pawn has been exclusively fighter/warrior would it be worth having her level up the rest of the way to 200 as a ranger or mage for stamina/m.def?
are elder ogres immune to petrification and sleep?
>>161945063
Ranger would keep you focused on physical attack so it will be strong but worthless as a magic user and also get you some magic defense which is useful for a pawn since they're not smart enough to dodge spells as often as a player. Mage would get you even more magic defense but make you a little weaker physically in exchange for being able to switch to a magic user if you want. They're both viable choices, I mean you've probably already beaten everything the game has to offer at that point so it's not like you need to worry about preparing for something hard in the future.

no feedback on Tristam since it was a low level pawn on bbi
Paubi exceeded expectations though. pleasantly surprised, keep it up!get her some clothes
Just started the game my low level sorc pawn has never been hired what am I doing wrong? I use it as my main pawn for dmg and usually hire another mage for healing.
PC Level 40 something now, female sorc name Lux
steam _cloudstrife_ for free hires.
Haven't beaten the game or tried BBI, working my way to do a full side quest clear through before doing any of the crazy shit
also i'm using that foreign armor set that came with the dlc when am i going to find better armor?
>>161949664
Make sure you're online and that the access to your pawn is not restricted
>>161949664
>never been hired what am I doing wrong?
This game is too old to get random rentals. Anyone who wants to get rented asks here or on other forums or joins a rent trading club. I got about 4 random rentals from 1-200.
>>161949943
That's not true. My pawn comes back almost nearly every rest with new stuff and experience
what is the recommended level for starting BBI?
>>161951404
Whatever level you happen to be at after exploring the everfall postdragon.
>>161949664
>princess dress

my man you have some changing to do. the princess dress is great stat wise early on, but everyone is using it; you need some fashions dogma in your life
>>161947869
>it's not like you need to worry about preparing for something hard in the future.
Good point, she also doesn't really struggle tanking anything. I think I'll switch her to Ranger though just for a change of pace and so she can spam Dragon's Maw more while having a nicer stat page. I don't plan on ever switching her to magic.
>>161949943

Forgive my ignorance, I'm new to Dark Arisen
What is with this payout
>>161954660
It's based on experience gained. Hard mode + blessed flower is 4x, and bbi has very high exp values. That's the cap for a single rental.
>>161954660

how do I fix this shit and please tell me it doesn't happen often
>>161956515
Inclinations will constantly change from what you want. Be prepared to chug potions from the encampment. You can dupe them at the black cat if you want to spend gold and time instead of rc.
As a Strider, what's better, gear that gives +str, or gear with higher defense? Most of my stuff has +str, but I'm worried I'm gimping myself defensively.
>>161957245
strength. You can just dodge most shit in the game with the roll
Anyone in their mid-40s level wise want to hire my pawn? 45 Sorc named Aeonis.
>>161957297
I haven't really had to dodge roll much. Small enemies I'll tear through with double jump + Helm Splitter, and bigger enemies I just climb to stab in the face.
Would anyone watch if I streamed

Ah, thx for the gold tip, hadn't thought of that
>>161957553
Why the fuck would I do that? I could just play the game myself.
Does Daimon's first form change at all the second time around or does assassin just cheese this shit super hard? I'm getting my ass kicked as a mystic knight. Granted, I have basically no curatives on me.
>>161957674
I think you're lying to me.
what goes good with the hellfire set? Plated coat has white bits stick out that looks bad.
>>161957862
Bow classes are easy mode, especially if you use blast arrows. Mystic knight is still good though, and can shit out damage if you set things up right.
>>161958170
I actually wrecked his shit immediately after I posted that, but then I wasn't paying attention and got fucked by a spell from his second form. I didn't even use my bow for him though as an assassin. I just grappled onto his face and stabbed the fuck out of him. Didn't even fucking see some of the shit he's doing now.
>>161957732
I dunno, some people watch it

Generally as soon as you knock him out of vortex he's never going to recover and you can literally just smack his face to death

REEEEEEE
Is topor the single most useful debilitation in the game?
>>161962812
yeah probably
>>161962717
Why is scather bad
>when you tell a really good joke
>>161963006
Scather is terrible only for mages and sorcs as well as any range-focused DPS class. It causes them to charge head first into battle and cling to enemies, hence the name "scather". They'll tend to stand right in front of bosses casting and constantly stagger, if they don't just climb onto it and stand there the hole time. It makes any mage instantly unusable no matter its gear/level/etc
Weird, I don't remember seeing Salvation guys outside of town before in any of my previous playthroughs.

You're certainly doing something wrong, if you're on PC. I wake up to a rental every couple of irl days, usually with 20-150k RC and probably in a bodybag. Fighter at 85 now, in some decent gear and not slut dressed.
Have you checked your inclinations and made sure your pawn's gear is upgraded the most you can? If it's all at least dragonforged people are much more likely to hire.

>>161967661

>>161967428
>>Wiki confirms
Don't blindly trust the wiki for this game. A lot of the information in circulation is from people who played the game a lot on console and just spread how they thought things worked. Testing was hard, and there is no official explanation of the game mechanics. The pc version has allowed for better testing of some things and some of it is getting corrected but when wrong info has been going around for so long it is very hard to stop.
Things like base magic not affecting elemental weapons was easy enough for people to prove by modifying stats, but good luck proving anything about what exactly each inclination does. I've heard some say scather makes them climb, I've heard others say it just makes them target the biggest threat. I've seen my own pawn climb big enemies as a sorcerer while not having scather inclination. I've seen nonguardians come hang around me doing nothing instead of fighting as though they were a guardian. Sometimes the whole inclination system feels like a sham. It is very unfortunate there is no official data on game mechnics.
>Cassardis entrance is well lit when you look through the gate from outside

By BBI, you'll probably want to start getting her sleep/petrify/possession resists up (which can be mostly done through rings) just because they're nice to have, but other than that it's Fashion's Dogma.

Why is the negroe male giving me attitude?
>>161987073
Niggas are pretty sassy in this game.
>>161987047
Honestly, people shouldn't play with 4 characters, it makes the game way too easy. 3 characters (just the Dogma trinity) on normal is the best way to enjoy the game.
>>161987471
Meant for >>161986874
>>161987471
The game's not too hard either way, unless you're underleveled or have weaker gear.
All the vocations are good, but some make many fights a joke. I just wish the game valued gear/items less and player skill more
>>161988430
That's why people shouldn't play with a full party, from "not too hard" it gets "way too easy". With 3 characters it can still gets interesting in some situations (like when there are a lot of enemies), while it's better than playing solo because you can still enjoy the pawn system in this way.
But, yes, giving priority to the fashion dogma, restraining yourself from using too powerful gears and enhancing them only when an upgrade is actually needed is mandatory in any case. Choosing in the rift one underleveled pawn helps too.
>>161987047
you make a backup before you install anything
if you install something and it works then make a backup if that as well
>>161989962
Well, I do make a backup of the single original files that get changed with the mod before replacing them with the mod files, I was wondering if the steam backup function would have saved the mod files togheter with rest of the game, or if, dunno, the steam function would have ignored the mod files because they aren't part of the original game. Guess that I'll try and see.

Guys, stop talking nonsense and read the in game descriptions. It's not what "others say", the games explicitly explains that with "scather" the pawn prefers attacking the stronger enemy of the bunch, and if you use the chair with scather set as secondary inclination the pawn explicitly asks if you like that.
Climbing is just one single way to deal with the enemy, not an enemy preference, it has nothing to do with the inclination itself.

New player here. Trying to go for a Sorcerer and I'm a little bit confused by this leveling system.
Augments carry over from class to class, skills only if both vocations possess it? So as I'm starting out as a mage, if I pick up Halidon it's a waste, but one of the boon spells is fine?
And should I be worried if I don't switch vocations right at level 10?

I just tested this myself by letting a warg in the first room of bbi do the standing series of bites that you have to mash out of on me and it was doing around 30 per bite on hard and after lowering the difficulty to normal the bites started doing around 14.
