I could. But i wont, mostly just because i'm lazy, i don't know if this will put your mind at ease or give you an aneurysm but here's a picture of the rest of the magazines and stuff for the hunter rifles.

From left to right top to bottom, conventional autoloader, conventional expandmag, default magnetic mag, mag autoloader, mag expand mag, mag autoloader+expandmag, beam default mag, beam expand mag. The plasma autoloader is just that round disk the vanilla beam weapons get.

Technically i'm missing one mag for the conventional rifle, so i might just make the one you suggested, but that weird upside down mag is still staying.

I kind of understand why he didn't want to stream a 'Normal' campaign after the game release. His first experience with the review code left an impression that the game snowballed so hard that he immediately went for difficulty+ mods tom make things more interesting in the streams. That's when things went against him and went in hard. Campaign ending hard. In multiple occasions and in quick succession.

A miss here, ADVENT boxstrat there and so on. Anyone remember that car (that was already in flames from the beginning) explosion that took quite a few of his operatives and pretty much ended yet -another- campaign? That was harsh.

"Not annoying" is a pretty low bar to set, anon. I suppose it's fine as white noise, but I could never look through Odd's shit the same way I would all 100 hours or so of LnI. He makes a lot of content, but he ain't good at the game and he ain't entertaining so I really don't see any reason to watch him over Beags besides from his silky smooth 1080p60fps video quality. Even then 3kliksphilip has me more spoiled with silky smooth 4K 60fps, although he's a different kind of youtuber entirely.

You get it from Archons, yes. But melee is shit in late-game so I tend to use the Arc blade anyway because of that 25% stun chance.
The Fusion blade just sets things on fire which isn't that useful.

Aye, I can see why burnt-out Beagle turns you off. I stopped watching streams too, I only drop in every now and then when Fubukiposter posts and reminds me it exists. It still bums me out how nu-/xcg/ are such cunts to Beagle though. I get the whole "getting political" thing was unpopular with /xcg/ being almost completely conservative, but I miss the days when he was our mascot streamer. His streams and content kept us alive throughout the slow points of the LW-era, gave us something to talk about and he even posted every now and again even into X2 days. Bradford could technically stun-lock VK with bladestorm, but it's highly unlikely.
And if VK gets one successful grab, it's game over for central.

The squad size upgrades at Sgt and Cpt are pretty good incentive not to abuse the system, up to that point.

Past Cpt, the complaint of the majority of players is that the game is too easy. If someone wants to make the game easier at that point then who cares? There's already a variety of overpowered strategies that you can start using at that point.

up to that point veteran ironman is entertaining and fair without meme beacons even, you'll just lose a couple sergeants to lucky shots before you buy predator. you can make meme beacons but it's unlikely you will get enough faceless before you lost a couple guys.

/xcg/, I'm planning to start a Guerilla War/Escalation campaign on YouTube to take over after LnL is done. If you were there for the GW/E streams we did earlier this year, what did you enjoy about them? What did you dislike about them? I want to update and polish that collection before I do a new campaign of it for YT, and apart from the obvious things that were broken (Rocketeers and Bikani/Infantry in general) I'm curious to hear what you think should be accounted for. As with those streams, the goal is to have an XCOM 2 experience that's fun, challenging, intense, and feels fairly balanced without too many cheesy or exploitative strats in (or required to not die.)

Personally I feel like it guts a large part of the game (pre-contact/setting up for your first firefight), kills a lot of the tension as a result, ensures every fight starts the way you want it which is a bit boring, and also combos with other gameplay mechanics too well to make everything cheesy (grenade ambushes, rockets, etc)

Perks that rely on concealment that aren't on a concealment class will get replaced (I'll probably leave Concealment on the Ranger-esque class similar to how LW has it halfway through the tree for Scouts) and Retaliations... not sure what you mean.

On YT I can play it offline, and if it fucks up horribly, it's just a 'test' to learn from and I can make it better before it ever sees the light of day. Online, the first impression is always whatever I've managed to cobble together up to that point, warts and all. All-right that sounds solid to me. Thinking back to the Guerrilla war campaign, the early-game before Bikani became a god of death was definitely fun. I could be mixing up a couple different stream campaigns together, but their was definitely tension for most missions. I definitely enjoyed more of the missions like the supply raids where it was an actual get in and get the fuck out kind of ordeal. The concept of guerilla war in X2 in pretty unrealized by vanilla, but some of the guerilla war mechanics working together (grabbing bodies, grabbing loot, reinforcements) definitely created a much better thematic gameplay experience. Obviously the challenge will be keeping it in the sweetzone of have that difficulty where you can't just hang around and tango with as many reinforcements as you want.

With that in mind, I definitely would lean more towards an experience where people are biting the dust more often than not, or where people are only not dying because you actual bail on a mission early. I think a system where failing individual missions isn't too punishing would be beneficial.

Also I think I remember the wave defense missions being a good time, setting up in a building and taking on the pseudo waves of enemies streaming in.

When will XCOM stream return? Only War vids?

Currently I'm not sure when I want to stream it again. I'm pretty burnt out on streaming most XCOM these days, and it's been refreshing to focus less on streaming and more on YouTube content again. It will probably be some time before I want to stream XCOM again, though it will likely coincide with me finding or creating a well curated experience ala Guerilla War/Escalation that I can play with no reservations or misgivings about balance.

As for Only War, that started and we got about 8 sessions in or so but I've had to take a break from GMing it for December because of how much I'm focusing on YT content at the moment. Not enough time in the week. But it's going well, I've enjoyed it. I'm not sure when I want to start putting out video of it - might keep holding onto it until I've really got a feel for the campaign first.

Oh yea that was fun, but I'm pretty sure I remember there being some missions in one of your campaigns that was pretty much just a wave defense mission in the middle of it. I think the one I'm am most distinctly remembering is the one with the huge multi-story building with a forest in front of it, and you kept on shooting rockets through walls and other geometry.

What I liked about Guerrilla War streams was the real nail biters that showed up during the early game. What I disliked was the WMZ that approached the latter end of the mid-game.

What I'd like to see ABA/ABA2 mixed with Guerrilla War, but that's require a lot of .ini tinkering on your end to get the corpses out with evac/fulton. It could be possible to coax Maluco into providing built-in support for ABA, but I'd want him to continue to building upon GW properly rather than busing himself with trivialities.
Avatar Reflect might also be a neat mod for the campaign

It is counter intuitive how the dlc behaves when you disable them in game. Id recommend enabling both of them but waiting to do the missions until mid campaign.

Do the first scan related to alien hunters asap so you can use the weapons early without activating the rulers. I'd wait for mag weapons at least to tackle the first ruler mission, or just never do it if you'd like. Shen's mission can be done fairly early with ballistics if you bring blue screen rounds and emp grenades. Otherwise wait until mag weapons as well.

It doesn't.

For some reason they made it 3 turns, (yours, theirs, yours), so your juiced soldier loses their armor without warning on the enemy's 2nd turn (turn 4).
Not to mention it's consumed fucking permanently- every use costs 35 supplies and a zerker corpse.

I never had that problem but I remember reading comments and mod maker suggesting something against that, go to a soldier's ability screen and then scroll through soldiers by buttons on the bottom. Something like this fixed the issue for some people IIRC. Though I read this long time ago might not work now

i have such a hateboner for vigilance. in my last campaign the ayys had it on the dark event list EVERY FUCKING MONTH for six months straight and i cancelled it everytime. everything else, except for alloy padding is literally null:

So this bug keeps happening. I had it once in EW with a Mechtoid when it jumped down and it was never seen again. The oddest part is that I still got the wreck. Beagle even had it happened before to a Berserker in this very map.

Thinmen are always the easy go to pick, for vanilla or for Long War. Drones can be annoying early, but they aren't too bad. Mechtoids get ridiculously scary once you start facing up with Leviathan and reactors senors.

For X2, lancers are still the early game terror that can ruin your day. They don't necessarily kill people, but they can consistantly put people into the sickbay, or absolutely wreck you by stunning people on timed missions. After that I would say I'm most afraid of Andromadons. Most of the time they aren't too bad, but if they ever get off an acid bomb, that can ruin your entire mission single handedly.

I love that fucking mod so much because is what i expected XCOM 2 to be but i am just sad to think that he dropped the project for good, there hasnt been a update about the game in months now.

Last time i saw he was working in the strategy layer but after that he went dead silent, just thinking about the strategy layer mod he was making plus the design documents he had for the mod in a small notebook makes me jizz all over myself.

Should I play b14i or LW 1.0?

Last time I played LW it was a Classic Ironman campaign on b14i.

I'm looking for a fun experience with some room for error and fucking around, b14i had a lot of OP retarded shit but it was fun as much as it was bullshit.
I hear that in more recent patches jonny 'magnificent' lump made MEC tanking weaker, massively increased the resource drain of deploying and building MECs, introduced a MEC chassis system and redesigned several skill trees.

Assuming I don't give much of a fuck about voice packs, if I'm looking for buzzword should I go for what I know (b14i) or for the most up to date LW (1.0)?

Yeah, RIP. Thing is, I've managed to get through the entire campaign without scumming. A casualty here and there and very rarely do anyone but the snipers get through a mission without damage, but it's been workable. With this mission we've hit the event horizon of magnificence, and it's back to the drawing board for this home-made mod suite.

I'm in a similiar boat, I've had to redo campaigns for so many times due to overtweaking my balance to shit and refusing to switch off ironman by now that just hearing Bradford say "NOW THAT WE HAVE A FOOTHOLD" triggers violent Gatecrasher PTSD for me. I've cleared a promising one now though. Hope to actually make it into the lategame this time, fuck me.

Not sure if you're still around Even More Maps-anon but I'm 90% sure these new Gatecrasher versions are yours and they are fucking sweet. Love this T-shaped pier one here, as well as the one that's split down the middle by a highway. The mapping feels akin to how EU did it rather than X2 in all the right ways.

Aye, it's pretty fun to just mod things yourself. Getting progressively closer to the balance you want as you tweak is great, I've landed on 4-6 squad spots once again after experimenting with everything from 6-8 to 10-12. To counteract the added ayyliums, close range bonuses and assorted buffs/changes to their roster and pod makeups I get Long War Perk Pack and the starting rank is specialist rather than rookie. Well, vanilla XCOM2 aim rolls work in a very funky way. Basically everything is calculated on a single d100 roll. In this 0-100 scale, crit overrides hit chance. What this means in practice is that if you have 70% chance to hit and 70% chance to crit, you now have 70% chance to hit and 100% chance to crit - if that shot connects, that is. Let's say you have 50% hit and 40% crit. You know have 50% chance to hit and 80% chance to crit. It's pretty damn retarded.

This is in stark contrast to EU, where if you had 70% hit + 70% crit you took two separate d100 rolls, first one for whether or not the shot connected and then another for whether or not it was a crit.

There's an X2 mod which reverts the rolls back to EW behavior if you prefer the EW way.

It seems to be intentional to put additional pressure to avoid trying to tank shots with cover.

When any shot could be a ohko, ESPECIALLY ones taken at soldiers in cover, aggressive play becomes preferable to taking a bunch of shots. Though the player doesn't exactly need help with that considering many xcom missions can be completed without a single xcom operator even being shot at.
