No, the pro isn't worth it. Get a slim. if you have a 4k tv it's not even worth it because only 4k TVs from like april 2016 and newer even fucking work in 4k mode because the pro uses some fucktarded new hdcp type.

the 4k features that get downsampled aren't all that impressive, it's a minor jaggie reduction in stuff like infinite warfare and bf1, and so far all devs minus squeenix in rottr and uh, that's about it, have totally ignored the chance for 1080p60.

The pro may be more worthwhile in the future but by the time it is, the scorpio will be out, and the PS5 will be due.

phats have a pretty loud fan, and run pretty hot, slim doesn't have those problems.

if a phat is significantly cheaper/in your budget, get that then I guess. try to get one with buttons though because the touch sensitive version has an issue with constant disc ejection due to static buildup and you have to unplug it for a few hours every couple weeks and it's just a real kick in the dick.

I need help...

So, bought a ps4 pro... And its driving me fucking crazy. I don't have an HDR tv, but I do have a 4k tv. Hooked it up, things look awesome. Everything seemed peachy. Until I tried to load netflix, or hulu. Sometimes it works.... 90% of the time I get a flashing screen. What gives here? I am at a loss.

I do also own a psvr. So I figured maybe the processing unit is fucking shit up? Tried just hooking directly into the tv. Audio with no video, figured it was an issue with the handshake. Turned off tv turned back on, same. Turned off ps4 turned back on, same. Turned everything off and back on, with ps4 in safe mode. Set it to reset resolution. Black screen on reboot.... The fuck is going on here? Is the ps4 pro firmware just wrecked or I am missing something here?

According to the spec sheet on my tv the two hdmi 2.0 ports support 2.0, but it defaults to what you see in my pic at 1.4. I believe this is due to using the psvr as a passthrough. But when I take the psvr out of the loop, i get no video at all to the tv.

I am thinking about getting a PS4 for Christmas, but I don't have a 4k TV and my friend told me it forces upscaling/supersampling so it actually runs games at lower FPS than a normal PS4. For instance Uncharted 4 running at 30 vs 60 fps because it is supersampled. is that true and there's really no way to turn it off? Cause if so I will just get a regular PS4, but that's kinda disappointing.

I've been playing FFXV for the last few days and it's the most fun I've had with a video game in a long while. I'm not trying to start an argument but I'm curious if this is only "okay" what exactly do you consider to be a "good" game?

Personally, compared to Persona 5, it's "okay". If you factor in all the hype it built, the marketing budget, kingsglaive, and all that, then this is a disappointment. No wonder they ran with their tails between their legs when Persona 5 was announced to launch ahead of them.

FFXV is good but the final third of the game is terrible.

Well not terrible, it's just that the combat system doesn't work well at all in tight, linear areas and te last part of the game is filled with them. The camera is a mess, it's more of a challenge to keep that under control that it is to actually fight the enemies.

The open world section for the majority of the game was great though. The desert area at the beginning was quite shit and I was worried it was going to be another Phantom Pain but once you get through the first blockade and into the wetlands/forest area it's really COMFY

TLOU was announced a month after U3 was released during the VGA's and U4 was announced at PS4 launch 5 months after TLOU released.

It's possible they'll announce TLOU2 at PSX but I feel they'll save it for E3.

Yes. Phantom Pain's gameplay was good but the open world was dogshit. FFXV actually has a bunch of stuff to find in it and has some variation to the locations.

I think FFXV is fun but it begins to run out of steam and the story can be a mixed bag (at least from my view).

Persona 5 does have a number of issues itself, but on the whole I think it is a more cohesive experience if that makes any sense. Like I consistently enjoyed Persona 5 as I played through it and replayed it, while I felt like FFXV has it's ups and downs.

Not saying Persona 5 is perfect, I feel like it feels, I wouldn't say unfinished, but like it is missing something in a few parts. But as a whole I enjoyed it more than FFXV.

The night hunts are annoying as fuck because there is literally no way to speed up time and you can't set your camp up so that you sleep until night, you always sleep until the next morning.

So basically, if there is a night hunt you just have to wander around for like 10 or 15 minutes until it gets dark. The really need to update the game to address this.

Aside from that it's pretty decent, I never played XII so I don't know if it's the same.

The summons are good but you can only use them in certain weather conditions or at certain preset points, kind of a wasted opportunity.

Considering the game says "A Final Fantasy for fans and first-timers" every time you start it up I think it's safe to say you'll be fine.

I'm interested to see what XVI is going to be. XV looks like a game that's been in development in 10 years so it has stuff that was popular back in 07. Would be funny if they played Witcher 3 and decided to go back to doing Fantasy.

You shouldn't take that list so seriously. I mean there are some questionable games there. I personally liked the new Star Ocean quite a bit. Sure it had things that sucked like parts of the story and the fact that you're only on one planet. I liked the battles, especially how you can have all party members in the battle at the same time. My playtime ended around 70 hours with all the side quests done so it was definitely a good buy for me.

I just like talking about Omega Quintet it's definitely not a bad a game, it's way better than Last Rebellion, the graphics and grind aren't nearly as bad as Trinity Universe but it's not great. You can clearly tell it's a between project where they're trying out new things and a lot of the mechanics that are solid got put into Mega Dimension Neptunia V 2.
If I had to give it a grade I'd give it a C, C+ for effort because you can tell everyone who was there for the project was trying.

PS4 generally limits your downloads to 3-4 at a time (it pings a server and depending on the response time you can get up to 6 concurrent downloads) but I wouldn't worry about it because in sleep mode all the downloads go faster (largely because the system isn't constantly pinging Sony servers for those little images and other useless info).

It might be a bit embarrassing to admit, I disagree. I liked the characters, they ran a little generic at times, but I felt heart from them and the vocal performances, in fact the absolute worst you can say about the game was that it was a bit generic.
It wasn't actually bad, there wasn't any game breaking glitches that could render 100 hr save file irrelevant, none of the voice actors sounded like random developer's kid pulled into a sound booth, the plot made sense and was serviceable.

Characters are bland, lifeless, and barely have any depth. Story is just meandering from point a to b with little in between since that'd take effort and that wasn't the point of OQ in the first place. The music tracks tended to repeat themselves and were places in inappropriate junctures, thus ruining the atmosphere of whatever it was trying to establish. Even the main character's ability as a "meat shield" never grows beyond that. Speaking of growth, character scenes where you need to walk to their rooms were watered down bits that had no meaning on the character and overall just felt like it was killing time until their final lock ins. The fact the combat system tried to infuse itself with as many different parts to try and make it interesting ends up messing up the flow if it entirely.

But I'm sure all of this is wrong to you, so just fuck off and spam anime pictures like you usually do to "engage" people.

I do disagree with you, but I did say that if you found it generic I wouldn't fault you and the biggest complaint you have is how generic and poorly paced it is.
That's fine, my argument is that I don't think it's bad because I've played some rancid piles of crap that I wonder how anyone could even approve of this game for release without utter contempt in their hearts for the consumer. I think I mainly like it because it's an obvious experiment to try new combat systems and mechanics, so it not being successful isn't bad because I now what they're trying to accomplish.

I will admit that some parts are stretched thin, that the music does repeat itself a lot and is sometimes inappropriate. I did completely forget about the music though.

All in all I don't think it's a bad game, I think it has problems sure, but I've definitely played worse and Omega Quintet never made me feel like I was wasting my time or that the designers had outright contempt for me.

Last thing: Why would I tell you your opinion is wrong? FFXV has gotta be the most inconsistent game I've ever played. One minute you're fighting a huge Titan and the music, visuals and combat all come together brilliantly, and then minutes later your car has been confiscated and you're forced to run across the wilderness worth absolutely nothing interesting happening except a few piss easy encounters where the only difficult thing is trying to make sure the camera actually shows you the fight and not just all the trees and bushes, and then minutes later you're infiltrating a base MGS style and it's back to being top notch and then... driving through empty landscapes again.
The highs of the game are really fucking good, but they're surrounded by a bunch of just barely serviceable gameplay. And the issue is that the good parts last maybe 5-10 minutes and then you get like half an hour of nothing.

The best part is that's not a problem in the Japanese Version. X and O are swapped for stuff like confirming and going back for Western games, but X is to jump in all versions of the game. When you're in an outpost, O does nothing, so nothing happens if you try to talk to an NPC but aren't close enough.
