The Shinano as designed was intended to serve as a glorified mothership, carrying spare planes and parts to replenish the flight groups of other carriers. Shinano herself was meant to have a meager air group herself. WG saw this on wikipedia and decided that, instead of ahistorically altering Shinano's air groups, it would've been better to pull a paper CV out of their ass.

farming damage is shit because even exp is given on % damage done on enemy. cap exp is balanced by defense flags and cap negation, things that there are no metric for.

I think it would still be better to measure what kind of ship the player uses mixed with their appropriated death rate. You can gauge their survivability in said ships. Whats their preferred tier and then you can base which role they like to play and stratify it further.
