The fun part of raiding has always been coming up with strats and progressing through the fights. If you are raiding at a point in the expac where the strategies have been completely perfected and you are just following instructions you aren't even raiding.

I dislike RPPM and the general shift towards having less control over your dps/hps. I get that they want there to be less difference between the numbers of a top player and a bad player, but I don't like that direction. Shadow Priests with their Surrender to Madness mechanic were one of the highlights of the expansion for me, but Blizzard are now gutting it because it's creating too much of a dps difference between good and bad players. Trinkets are really boring now. Is it better for the game? Maybe, but as a very competitive player it's less fun for me.

I prefer classes having unique tools (buffs) to bring to raid. Also the legendary system is pretty awful.

Yes, but due to the cross server nature of M/M+ dungeons no real lasting interactions happen here. You will never see 90% of the people you meet in an LFG pug ever again because there are a million more people in the LFG system.

My dude, I can almost guarantee you I've played more legion than you. I'm artifact level 35, 8/10M. I enjoy legion for what it is, but think its a shit MMO.
Yes, you will occasionally equip lower ilvl pieces, but blizzard has outright stated they want to put an end to that, and 99% of your pieces come from M+ dungeons or mythic raids, with the odd WQ piece like DSB thrown in. There is nothing equivalent to a healer doing a ridiculously long quest line to get his BiS like the linkin quest line in vanilla, or crafted pieces like Lionheart helm or truefaith being ridiculously sought after.

Oh man, I 100% feel you. You don't even go into all of it though, If you're a Mythic raider, you're expected to get these Defiled Augment Runes, which go for 500g a pop, and are destroyed on death.

You end up spending like 60-70k gold per week during progression, it's insane.

EXACTLY, thats the whole point, THATS what makes raiding good, the actual planning and positioning of tested abilities
even when it comes to simple shit, like designating warlocks to banish mini-garrs in molten core or pulling baron geddon to the one spot where melee can go in / out of range of his aoe
all of these things are pre-planned strategies, its not like retail where theres 1000 puddes of fire and laser beams randomly generated so much its all just pure chaos

The trick is to level up fast enough that you're top dog in a populated zone (with higher levels granting more honor per kill), but not so fast that you run out of many people to kill.

A number of TBC bosses were straight up bugged, so that's one of the reasons it took so long to kill them. On top of Blizzard not yet using the best raid guilds to test their content before it hits live, at which point they've already gotten hours and hours of practice on the boss.

Also limitations in individual power and the time to figure out the gimmicky shit for several bosses. IE: Mage tank, warlock tank.

None of that really matter all that much though. The skill ceiling and mechanical difficulty of raids is not something WoW has ever been known for by anyone but complete retards. The game is a lot bigger than raids and it's a complete ecosystem that needs to be maintained.

Raid dificulties need to be removed, dungeon difficulties need to be removed, a thousand other things need to be changed, etc. But this can't and won't happen. Thankfully people were finally getting around to the idea of sharing code for private servers to raise the standards. Right up until the balding manlet of fortune decided to start throwing a tantrum over Nost releasing their source code.

Probably not very long since again, they're being heavily tested. But it's not that just that the raids are easier that we're seeing raids being cleared as fast. Some raids obviously are easier, others are hard still.
