I never play her on defense, and on attack she is somewhat of a "bastion" character, in that she can initiate a fight well by taking out a high-priority target in the blink of an eye without people expecting a widow. Unless the enemy is retarded and doesn;t bully her she can delete teams, though. Especially on the PTR right now when Sombra can hack through Rein shields. As long as your own tanks create space for you it is open season.

It is up to you to position yourself at a good ancgle. She doesn't work on all maps, but she is fantastic on maps with a lot of different angles since they can;t cover all of them. If they are ready after the first pick or two you should switch to McCree/Soldier or w/e the team needs.
