If MH Were ever to be westernized or produced by a western studio, would Bowguns just become "guns"?

I've never understood capcom's foothold on the "bow" part of the bowgun idea. For all that it's worth, a majority of the bowguns are designed literally just to be guns and the only time the "bow" part comes into play is for the firing pin - as in, even though they have semi-automatic self-loading weapons with clips/magazines, for no reason the firing pin is overdesigned to be attached to a crossbow-like mechanism.

Are these shitters in the cannon of MH so retarded that they can't figure out how to combine the firing pin from the gunlance into a bowgun?

Was able to actually break nakarkos' tentacles during the roundabout phase where it just skirts around the arena. Was surprised to learn the first time i used the other bow set that the motherfucker goes back to skirting if you dont break the heads, then when he stops again its just a fuckin onslaught of dragon lasers. Never saw that before in 50+ hunts, but it happens.

Anyway still got 10 minutes. You really dont get enough power coatings or combines to matter and thats yet another sad part of the whole weapon type.
