Is there a way to make this game less CPU intensive and more GPU? This game slows to a crawl at certain points despite a decent (GTX 970) GPU. Playing on Medium, what settings are intensive on the CPU. Or am I fucked whenever there are more than 5 mechs on screen?

It's an unfortunate side effect of using a shitty version of cryengine, it happens to be very cpu intensive.

Still, any modern system made in the past two years should have an easy time with it and you should still have plenty of framerates.

You have dank missile quirks, so those are your primary weapon even though you only have 2 of them. You want 2 srm6 with artemis and then some either 4 mediums (with bonus flamer or not) or 5 spls. If you're a madman and run an xl then you can do 4mpls but it's generally a waste.

Furthermore MWO did get better and it's pretty fun now. Taking a few years break did wonders for me. CW is out and seems pretty neat, bigger matches with more players. New maps, remakes of old maps and a shit ton of mechs.

I agree that they seem to have gotten the handle of it now what with their monthly grab deals and the new maps aren't that bad but fuck me they still have a lot of quality control to do regarding older mech models, cancer boxes, some mechs still have PS1 tier textures, some maps still drop to literally 20 fps just by looking at a certain direction (Crimson Strait), but it's better than it has ever been.

Every catapult is reasonably strong due to it's small size and decent quirks.

K2 used to run top tier uac5 builds but those are no longer optimal. You can still do several builds on it which will work just fine.

I picked the name off sarna looking up random lore shit. Handed over the steam group before launch or so. The balance was absolutely insane and the devs had no idea about anything.

Best mech for pretty much all of beta was 2x gauss rifle catapult or light mechs because the engine bugged out so bad you couldn't hit them.

Heavy gear is still in beta and the development seems kind of slow but it is shaping up nicely. I haven't actually tried the game even though I bought it a long while back. I can tell you they have a neat UI and some cool weapon effects from watching the videos.

I know the king krab isn't like super meta or anything but did it get any recent changes that make it worse than when it first came out? Like some stupid hitbox change or something. I also can't quite decide which variant I should go for.

Is the stalker still decent? Failing the king krab I wanted to get a stalker for brawling like with a bunch of SRMs and LPL and mlas. But neither of these assaults have armor bonuses.

King Crab isn't any worse for wear than it's been since release. It's a great gun platform that will get killed pretty quick if you get caught out.

It also very much exemplifies the whole "Make a choice between firepower and survivability" that inner sphere mechs have to make.

Standard engine allows you to keep fighting, but limits your mobility and overall firepower. Example build would be the 4xUAC/5 3x medium laser or 4x AC5 and 3x medium laser builds.

Contrary to popular belief here, you CAN live with an XL engine on the king crab, assuming you put on sufficient enough precision firepower and a large enough engine to remain agile. For example, I prefer to run 2x Gauss w/ 6 tons ammo, 3x LPL and the biggest XL engine I could find on the KGC-0000 variant, though the other variants do this just as well.

Stalkers on the other hand are still decent. Not XL engine friendly at all, but they make up for it in having large amounts of firepower.
