Ken's jump tatsu is the biggest thing that needs to be fixed for season 2. It's fucking insanely broken. You can jump in for free with it any time you want and it beats every AA normal, then you can get a free combo once it hits. Whoever designed this move has fucking brain damage.

I've hated airdashers since I made the mistake of buying Xrd (worst fucking game I've ever played, pressure completely chokes out the neutral game and makes it a turnbased blocking test), but I played Central Fiction at a friend's house and had a lot of fun. The character designs were also less overdone and stupid looking. Which characters would be a good start for a Street Fighter player? Any tips for beginners?

I guess the typical answer is Ragna or Jin, they're good beginner characters in general, but really you should just try out a bunch, see who you like and pursue that. Characters are so unique that any time spent on a character you don't really plan on playing is generally wasted.

Going in from Street Fighter; dash way more often, including airdashing, remember that you can block in the air and barrier block anti-airs. Because of dashes, an enemy's effective range can be much larger than it seems.

Air blocking can be better than blocking on the ground because you can't get overheaded or get low-hit, this makes up-back in the corner better than in SF.

Be more free with your meter usage because it doesn't carry over between rounds.

Bursts are best used when you know you're going to take a lot of damage; fatal counter hits, hit in the corner and opponent has 100 meter, etc; and they carry over between rounds, so using it early can also be helpful so it regenerates earlier and you can use it more. It's a balancing act.

When teching throws, note that if you get thrown but you hit your own throw buttons either too early or too late, you will still get thrown in a Throw Reject Miss, so don't just mash it when you think a throw is coming.

Crush Trigger attacks must be blocked with barrier or you will be guard broken.

You can tech by holding a button while getting hit, you'll tech at first opportunity. If you're on the ground, you can hold a direction and a button to roll in that direction while teching. This leaves you vulnerable to getting picked up off the ground by a hit, though; this is called OTG or Off The Ground. You can also just wait for normal wakeup but there's basically no reason to do that. If you tech in the air you can get hit in the air.

Wrong, GG is a little more neutral based. In BB you block a 2A and you are in a significantly worse situation compared to GG. In GG characters have stronger neutral tools in general so they need to be respected much more. Why do you think you have a separate meter for barrier and heat in BB?

I hope you realise that actual BB players agree with what I said. Both games have strong ways to open the opponent up; In Xrd your initial mix up is very strong, in BB your initial mix up isn't as strong but its likely that you will get more chances to open them up. Not to mention BB has more grounded overheads than Xrd, which can be converted into damage easily. There are of course exceptions to the rule, but that's just character variety. If you have trouble getting out of Xrd pressure but not BB the chances are that you are playing really good Xrd players and shitty BB players or you are garbage at Xrd and decent at BB.

Getting into neutral from pressure in CPE is way easier than getting to neutral from oki setup vortex in Xrd.

I don't play BB but I doubt this is true simply because of the existence of Dust. Every single character has 5D and on top of that most have another normal on top of that, usually 6K, some have multiple like Ram for example and some characters have instant air overheads that can be converted into a combo.

There is a new interview with Ono from Famitsu.

Ono said to wait for Dec. 3rd for Season 2, he also said they predict SFV lifespan to last around 2020 and, surprisingly, they're considering a Pro patch especially for the backgrounds (he's aware of the low quality of the backgrounds).

That's 14 characters out of 23.

There's also characters that don't have grounded overhead but have either instant overhead or a strong pressure/mixup through high-low game:
Sin, I-no, Bedman, Venom.

Pretty much every single character also has a late airdash or empty jump low mixup after YRC projectile. You haven't played the game at all if you think the game doesn't have high low mixup. Whether it's more or less than BB I don't know but I can guarantee you that most characters have strong high low options and on top of that every single one has a dust to keep people awake (better on some characters than others.)

it's true. necalli has no bullshit blender garbage like a mika or constant pressure. his normals are outranged by practically the entire cast. you have to be smart to get in and have good mixups if you want to win. he has high damage to make up for the fact that he's at a disadvantage until he's in point blank range.

his v trigger is also extremely important so you can't spam v reversals to nullify pressure.

necalli is honesty incarnate.

his divekick isn't even that good, you can only land a jab after it hits.

ryu and ken have meterless DPs too. necalli needs meter to maximize damage to make up for his t-rex normals.

his seismo is shit and easy to punish, especially outside of trigger.

his charged tackle is negative and very punishable on block. it's useless unless you're trying to hard read a fireball or as a combo ender.

Cammy only CCs off of stand roundhouse, which doesn't do shit otherwise. Chun Li only has it on roundhouse and back fierce, not regular fierce because that would be buttfucking ridiculous.

Ryu has it on both standing heavies but roundhouse whiffs crouchers and CC fierce doesn't do anything other than counter hit bonus damage.

After playing fighting games for over a decade, I believe you can safely judge the race of your opponent by how they treat you when they win/lose.

Asians: Complete straight-face. Whether you're on their level or a complete newbie, they will play the game 100% straight with little to no fucking around, no taunts, and no BS. If chat is around they may say "ggs" and are generally good sports regardless of how the match went.

Whites: Run the gamut depending how neurotic the white person is, but they can be some of the nicest and most social players giving you real tips and advice afterwards, or giving you badly spelled gloating/excuses after a match.


Blacks: If they're losing they leave within two games, usually saying nothing, if they dominate they are the most cruel and malicious player possible, name-calling, taunting, insulting, and usually offer nothing in the way of advice. Very bad sports.

Hispanic: Have the temperament of blacks when it comes to dominating, but they bitch out even earlier and in a nastier way when getting dominated. Occasionally you find a real good latino player who is Asian quality and they play it straight-faced. Vary the most next to whites, but do have the nasty streak from blacks.

Currently, all of the characters have 20 anti-fireball moves.

Play ST if you want fireballs. To be completely honest, every single SF except that one nerfed the shit out of fireballs.

I don't think the vast majority of tournament setups have all the costumes or colours unlocked. Tokido doesn't play P2 Ryu online and the only alts I regularly see are the story Chun everyone has and CPT costumes.
