It, along with Cloak are the only two Tacticals where if the opponent is good (or just lucky) you get literally *no* benefit from them.

It doesn't matter how good the other guy is, A-Wall will always stop bullets, Pulse Blade will always reveal enemies (or the lack of them), and Stim will always increase your movement speed. But somebody can just ignore your Holo Pilot and you get *nothing*.

It can be fun. It can make for some silly moments and plays. But it does not give you near as much value as the other Tacticals, and you should avoid it unless you're just going to screw around with it. Which is fine. Just know what you're getting into.

How in the name of Spyglass are you supposed to play the Ronin? It has less durability than wet toilet paper, the phase dash isn't up often enough for use a reliable reposition, the sword block doesn't even seem to block damage very well... I just hit 10.9 with Tone (because I'm a faggot) and swapped over to Ion. I really, really missed the pilot-killer laser. I have to say, it's rough to fight bounty titans and come out with very low health. Tone is stupid; I can just salvo 1-2 times and then core them. Rinse repeat behind a shield or around a corner.

I just really wanted to try the vortex thing and throw rockets back at people. Just my luck that my first round no one played Tone. :(

I really hope this game stays alive.

I'm still going through the single player, and everything just feels so polished. The wall jumping and sliding is handled exceptionally well and feels extremely satisfying. The weapons all feel unique, Titan combat is challenging instead of just a shit stomp, and every loadout has a unique feel and play style that goes along with it.

I'm not trying to sound like a shill, I was just very pleasantly surprised. One of the best FPS's I've played in a long long time.

Wall hang is really good as is. It has been my main tool for getting rid of people on my tail since the first game. Nobody ever expects you to use it, so they aren't looking above the door they just walked through.

Technically the most efficient use of it in the long term. You're eventually going to hit Gen 10 and unlock all of the weapons permanently anyway. Coliseum tickets get you Advocate Gifts, which are RNG and not able to be purchased with tickets.

That being said, I think the other anons are right that Low Profile is a solid buy, considering how clearly best-in-class it is and how late you unlock it. Grabbing your favorite gun or Titan isn't a sin, either. Phase Shift might be another one worth considering if you play any playlists with LTS included; it's pretty much mandatory in those game modes, and good outside of them, and you don't get it until 26.

I mean, just pick one. Attrition and Bounty Hunt are popular. Anywhere you can find players is fine. It's just another modern multiplayer tactical shooter, there's not really a "deep end" you need to be afraid of jumping into. Generally speaking, just shoot everything that moves and you'll get the hang of it after a game or two.

Pop one crouched in some bushes, deploy them running past doors, etc.
If you don't seperate far enough from your decoy you have at best a %50 chance the enemy misidentifies you, and smg fags can usually kill both the fake and you without any problem. The best luck I've had with it is using it to bait reflex shots from people to give away their position.
Sometimes you can get someone to chase a holo by having it wallrun past a gap while you hang on the wall behind, but it won't last long.

Turn your sensitivity down (being able to do a 180* turn by swiping all the way across the mousepad is a good place to be). If that seems way too cramped, get a bigger mousepad. Your aim will improve. I promise.

Learn to move. If you play this game like CoD you're gonna have a bad time. If you're not already aware (and some people aren't), wall-running actually moves you faster than running on the ground. If there is a surface you can wall-run on that goes in the general area you want to be, you should be on it instead of the ground. If there is a roof, you should be on it instead of the ground. If you're on the ground, if at all possible, you should be sliding to conserve momentum and get back on the walls as soon as you can. There are advanced techniques called bunny-hopping and air strafing--don't worry about them for now, but once you get a handle on the mechanics you should google them.

Learn the maps. This isn't a Titanfall thing, this is an FPS thing--it just happens to be doubly important in Titanfall. Not only does knowing the map mean knowing where to look when you're clearing an area, where spawn points are, where batteries are (in LTS), and other standard FPS stuff. It also means knowing where the wall-runnable surfaces are, and the flat areas that enable sliding. Learning the map means you're going to not only be better at killing bad guys, but at getting to and away from them as well.

There's no special secret for how to do that. Practice. Play and die a lot. You'll get better.

If you're super new and don't know where to start, consider playing the single-player first. It's a pretty gentle intro into the mechanics.

Since you're on console, turn your controls to bumper jumper or the evolved controller lay out. So when you jump, you don't have take your thumb off the right stick to press x/a, instead you press LB/L1 and don't have to move your thumb for jumping. Obviously you will have to for your tactical, but you'll be jumping way more than using that.

Stryder with a 40mm was exactly a Scopedog. I've never done better or had more fun in Titanfall 1 than with that setup. I guess Tone with extra boost is the closest you can get to that.

The EVA-8 is an ok gun. It does what it is supposed to do well: close-range combat.

Anyhow, you shouldn't care to an extent to what is OP, in the sense if it is good, it is good. Better than getting slaughtered because of a bad weapon like the L-Star, which isn't fun at all in my book.

I didn't bother with Titans at first since I didn't have the patience to learn them and was still doing really well without piloting them until I got Legion which I really liked, I tried Tone since 40mm was always good and holy shit it was so easy to destroy literally everyone with it without even losing half my health.
I've gotten bored recently and gone back to try the others out and fallen in love with Scorch but it's so frustrating to come up against Tone's, I feel dirty for investing so much time into it when the other Titans are pretty neat.

honestly her laser shot could use a smaller hitbox. it feels too much like the arc cannon when it comes to killing pilots. far too easy. it doing more damage than a full charge railgun is a bit much too.

Tracker rockets were a pain to figure out because their stats come from two different files, and the rockets themselves have a lot of different variables going into their damage output.

You only get 2 shots per 12 seconds though. Railgun can shoot a lot more, even if each shot is full charged and you are taking time waiting or slow peeking to get a shot on a titan, you can get off a lot more in 12 seconds. Also requires Ion to basically disable her only defensive ability to double laser shot.

I played for what felt like 10 hours, definitely had my fair share of matches and I was very familiar with all the maps.

Pilot gameplay feels amazing, I love every second of it, the fast movement and gunplay made me feel like I had an excellent game in my hands.

Then I got into my Titan, I started Ronin because it's fast, and swords are awesome. I felt like I could work with it. There's just one problem, for the Titans, a majority of the maps just turn into firing lanes where long range hitscan weapons (ion laser, Tone, Legion) just shoot down a hallway and hide behind shields.

So I think "Okay i'll use some cunning and go around". I spend a good 20 seconds dashing and sprinting around the full map and come up behind an enemy Tone, I dump four rounds of the Leadwall into his back and go ham with the Broadsword. Then he turns and fires 500 missiles into my face and I die.

"Okay," i think "I must have to play the Ronin as a hit and run flanker, using my many dashes to get in, dump the Leadwall and get out" So I try this for a bit, but it doesn't matter, every piece of damage you take sticks, because there's no regenerating anything, not even a small shield. All the titans dumping Hitscan weapons down their hallway or from the back of their big open field where they're all buttfucking each other, dropping shields and raining death just whittle me away. I use the extra dash, but sometimes even with 3 dashes plus the Ronin's G I usually don't have enough movement to get in, do damage and get back to safety. So I just wind up trading damage unfavorably.

"Okay fuck it, i'll just take the nuclear core and go ham then eject" This was the most effective tactic, but it's mindless. All I do is dash into the enemy Titanden, empty the Leadwall and swing the sword until I can self destruct. There's no thought process, no tactics, no fun.

Eventually I just switch to the Ion and snipe people with the laser.

So when weapons and Titans regen do they gain xp bonuses each regen? It doesn't feel like they do. Gen 6 R-201 and Gen 4 Northstar and they still feel as slow as they did before a regen. Also looked at the google doc of damage. Feels bad knowing that Northstar is a worthless pile of shit.
