New players who lurk the general because you tried the free trial that's about to end, what did you think about it?

Bit late, but im trying the free trial now. Any tips for a long time ES player but a first time MMO/ESO player? I noticed I have 500 crowns, should I use it on that starter pack?

Also what are the differences between the game versions? The base game is on sale for $13 so im probably gonna pick that up

You might want to keep your wood shit so you can research traits/deconstruct staves and bows to level woodworking and make your own bow, because you will want a bow on a stam DPS build, even if it's just for the sake of slapping down an AoE and poisoning your target.

Horses don't give a fuck anon. You can summon that shit at level 1 if you so please. Horses are also account wide, you get one horse, be it from the crown store or from spending 10K at a stable and all your characters have a ride from the word go.

You can max out every crafting skill easily, I have all of them maxed and every skill I could care to ever use and still have skill points left over and zones I haven't scoured for skyshards.

well, I wouldn't say there is a particular set of path for crafting because there still are more skyshards and now you can go almost everywhere to find them

Then stamina orc sorcerers became a thing, and if you got reported while playing one for speedhacking, you'd just get banned, they don't even look into it.

New to this game, I have no idea how builds are supposed to work in this game. I don't know what stats or skills to level or generally not ruining my character by making shit choice. Impossible. You can respec everything at the second major city for every faction

I'd recommend just playing the game and learning as you go. A lot of the builds online aren't helpful for levelling anyway, and are more meant for max level.

Every class 'can' do everything, but for endgame healers are almost exclusively templars. Anyone can heal up to that point though, so if you want to run a non-templar healer for dungeons as you level go for it.

This is a pretty chill general; if you're struggling with solo or you don't think you're doing the right thing for your role in a dungeon I'd recommend just asking here. You'll get minor shitposting but IMO it's better than diving into the autism of build-posting websites. Otherwise just make it up as you go

"Synergies", purify is from a templar's ritual and will cleanse you of DoT effects/debuffs, mostly only important for PvP. There are plenty of other synergies, some more worthwhile than others. Radiate, for example.

The PvP i don't get at all though. 90% of the time there is nothing save a few mobs here and there, and suddenly you get bumrushed by like 30 enemy players

I travel a lot between my home where I go to college and my hometown where I celebrate holidays and work between semesters, so couldn't justify just going for eso+ since I would feel like I wasted gametime whenever I didn't play.

What are the chances that game will drop as low in price as during this weekend, within next few months?

I mean, even if I buy it today, I wouldnt play it for few weeks I guess.

Also, about buying - I still cant decide, if to buy it for 10 EUR now or more expensive boxed version later. You see, in my case it is either - buy normal version now (for 10 EUR or 50 PLN) or whenever I want, boxed version of Gold, for 150 PLN (or 33 EUR).

It's the best MMO I have played, most probably because it's not a classical MMORGP to begin with.

Not so much grinding, and the story is interesting, the voicing is superb.

They're shit at soloing in the sense that your soloing is very, very slow, because you're a tank and your bar is filled with tank skills instead of damage stuff and you're wearing armor that does little for your DPS.

Your solo capability is pretty good aside from the speed of things (pic related - even with a shit build I was able to solo a world boss) and if you want to tank I'd suggest geting into dungeons - because DK tanks are greatly appreciated there and you will get a group very quickly compared to a DPS.

I'd say to just make it as literal as possible with regards to what the character is going to be doing.

For example, if you're going to use one-hand + shield as a tank, make it Hides-Behind-Shield or something like that.

Not sure if all of Tamriel, but they definitely want to add more areas. They've not confirmed it but people have datamined stuff that hints that Vvardenfell is in the works.

You will be missing Shadow of the Hist, a small DLC with only two dungeons, so you're not missing much. And the content is so hard that I wouldn't recommend it before you've played trough all the other shit anyway.

yeah it's pretty funny how the game limit is retarded for today standards, like the engine can support up to 4gb of dedicated memory to mods, but it uses only 64 mb, using Shissu's suite manager/LUA Memory (both in a single mod) you can increase said limit.

It was supposed to summon army of undeads, at the cost of the living souls. In-game dialogues suggest that Mages Guild found a way to use it in different manner, as some sort of magical nuke or something. All the player learns is that it wiped out rather huge enemy fleet and burned out completely.

Oh and Orcs wanted to be destroyed because when they invaded island in first place, local Bretons wanted to use it to wipe out invaders and nearly succeed. Later, Blood-something cult wanted to do the same for the evilulz and player stepp into right moment to prevent their army, already awoken, from doing more harm that it already done (aka few dozens of orcs slained or something).

Long short story - if you are kind and gets moved by story of dead orcs, you are prised for wisdom and shit, if you are a dick and decide to keep it, you actually save rather good chunk of lives ("hundreds" as captain claims) AND gets it destroyed.

All that happen in-game, with no consequences for the player.

I cant recall, where I found the info about Hist coming from previous Kalpa, sorry. Just in case if you would wonder, Kalpa is basically period between birth and death of the world in TES. When Alduin succeed in destroying the world, it triggers the Wheel to turn and resets time back to the moment when it first became linear (aka the creation of Red Tower). You should check out the ruins of Mazzatun, or at least see a playtrough and check the lorebooks from it.

These are two lorebooks found in Mazzatun worth taking notice of. The former is a diary of the tree-minder tending a mad hist tree and how the minder is using "Amber plasm" to make argonians on steroids. You see first-hand how terrifying enhanced argonians are, not to mention how a Hist tree can take a dead Argonian and recycle his soul shortly after he's killed by putting him in a golem made out of Hist sap.

The later is from an argonian captive. It has a very peculiar wording. "Turning back the river." I read it as that the city they're building is, in fact, a gigantic time machine.

The Orsinium us probably the most fun area in the game, it's basically a whole new area about the same as the regular areas.

Same with Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood, but those areas are much smaller. They also provide daily missions and unlimited generated missions about stealing and killing shit.

The Imperial City provides access to the PvE/PvP area and two new dungeons.

They're just added flavour to the game desu, what you see is what you get, and you can play perfectly fine without any of them.

Won't do you much good in dungeons.
Bow skills are mainly damage over time, most of those who run bow in dungeons only switch to bow to drop the AoEs and DoTs and whatever abilities don't fit on their main bar.

Snipe could be used for your main ability in PvP because it's good burst damage but in dungeons I'm pretty sure it's worthless.

If you're talking about solo questing then sure it could work.

Also a pro tip: DO NOT KITE IN DUNGEONS, it makes things a thousand times harder for everyone. I am a healer and I would ALWAYS prefer you stand still and get wrecked so hard I have to spam my most costly healing spell over and over rather than have to run around with you spamming my most costly healing spell every 5 seconds while the monsters don't take any damage because nobody can hit them.
If you can't get out of the habit make a new habit of standing on top of or near the tank

Hey I'm a returning player (bought game on launch and burnt out after 50hrs) and I'm curious if it's possible with the new update for me as a Dark Elf to move my story progression to a different faction zone? I want to keep playing the main story but in the Hammerfell area, is it possible?

I'm not really sure if I enjoyed the trial or not, but I might buy in in the hopes it gets better. Played an Argonian Nightblade and went DW/Heavy Armor. Game just feels weird because I really have no idea what sort of choices I should be making in terms of gear and weapons. Bows felt too weird compared to mainline TES games. And as far as DW, am I right in thinking all the weapons types are basically the same?

Just bought the game. What's the best in demand class for group content? I'm gonna be in the mercy of the game's matchmaking since I do not have friends to play.

Same here. I'm level 9 as a Khajiit Templar and after 8 years of Wow, 5 of Guild Wars, and 2 of Guild Wars 2, it's absolutely alien to feel like I don't know what I'm doing.

Liked it a whole lot, bought gold edition the other day cause I wanna keep playing for sure, the DLC all looks and sound fun and since it's buy2play I don't feel pressed to ram jam through content like I have with some other MMOs before. Can take my sweet ass leisurely time and let NPCs finish their dialogues before I go clicking through, can just wander around and RPfag it up as I like, don't feel rushed to gun it up to max level, it's a pretty nice feel.

Also I like the character customization well enough, made a standard enough dunmer first as I always have and thinking of also doing a maximum beefed up orc to do Daggerfall story stuff next, though I've heard the Aldmeri stuff is the best but dunno what I'd really wanna make there.

whats the difference between regular + 4 dlcss, and gold?

Does it appear different in the steam library? What else?

Those classes don't really relate to the classes you use to match make dungeons.
A Templar or DK can be a tank or healer if they want to, you choose if you are going to be a T/DPS/H when you join a queue. You can literally be just about whatever you want, what you need to worry about is how to build your character to what role you want, and DK/Templar/Sorc/Nightblade each have their own perks to each "class".
For example a Sorc could be a tank if they wanted to, but they may not perform in the role as well as a DK which is sort of made for the tank role.
What really determines what role you pick in a dungeon is the skill line, which is available to every class. Some are just better that some than others.
To answer your question Healers and Tanks will almost always be needed more than a DPS.

Depends on what you mean.
Magicka dragonknights use a few close range fire spells, but typically use a staff.
Stam dragonknights have close range poison spells morphed from the flame spells for example poison breathalongside a few fire spells, and will tend to use dual wielding

And other classes have roughly the same idea. The flavor changes but they all have the potential to use melee weapons and 'spells' or destruction staves and more traditional spellcasting

DW Nightblade would literally be the opposite of what you want anon. Nightblade has virtually no spells that function in a DW build.

Stam DK like >>160733695 would probably closest fit your desired build of hitting things with swords and occasionally doing some sort of magic at them. You'll be casting poison claws and breathing poison, lighting your weapons on fire and sprouting spikes from your spine.

Other options:

-Templar, who like NB has few spells that work in a stamina build but will be basically defined by spamming a spear made of light at things in between his weapon skills.

or

-Sorceror: Thor-mode. Turn into a hurricane, summon lightning to your fists to boost weapon damage, even get an ult that lets you just shoot lightning from your hands.

Bows are real good for pvp, alright for pve. dualwield+bow is a good combo for dungeons

NBs get illusion-type spells like invisibilty and fear, and things like mark target and sneak-themed executes.
If that sounds good enough, go nuts.

Melee sorcs get lightning-based buffs to armor/weapons and can drop dark magic mines and summon daedric pets

Melee DKs get poison/fire/earth spells

Melee templars get recovery and light healing, but will mostly focus on non-class skills. Still quite strong.

Whichever sounds best, go for. You get a good taste in the early levels anyway. My favourite class/spec is magicka NB, but I have no doubt stamina NB is good too. 2nd for me is stamDK.

The fuck skills am I supposed to be using to heal for the poison phase of engine guardian?

Spamming BoL runs me out of mana asap, combat prayer can almost do it but teammates are never close enough. do I need to find room in my bars for grand healing or can it be done with just rapid regen up+cleansing rit+combat prayer if team sticks together?

right now im a stamina dual wield templar, and i just unlocked weapon swap, I'm thinking bows for my backup, is that good? I just do PvE stuff

Nope, you can play entirely without summons. The only "summon" my sorc uses is Bound Armor. Unless you run a dedicated summon build where you AFK and let your summons do everything you probably will only have 1-2 summons, because summons are destroyed if you swap to a skill bar that they aren't slotted on.. which generally means you're going to have to put them on both bars and that is a lot of fucking space to give up.

The other night with the NA PC dungeon I used the Restoring Light ultimate with the less dmg morph for that. The other deeps weren't idiots and got out of my range.

We got the achievement and everything, bretty cool.

On the fence with this game. Should I pick it up on PC or on PS4??
