Depends on what you mean by "battlemage" and "spellswords". if you want to be a special snowflake that's amazing at everything you're shit out of luck. If you want a pretty brutal melee mage, then DK is up your alley.

Both are great. A Khajiit dragonknight do best in putting all his attribute points into stamina while using magicka skills to buff himself, while an Altmer templar is best off putting all his points into magicka and use the aedric spear class abilities to fight in melee.

Is this whole "One Tamriel" a good thing? I've never played the game before, but to me it just sounds like it would kill any sense of progression.

I was very skeptical but actually it's not bad. you can roam from zone to zone which I liked to do anyway to stave off boredom from being stuck in one area, but you can actually do the quests no matter where you go rather than constantly being on the run from welcome bears. there's still world bosses and elites that will stomp your ass in if you don't know the area so it doesn't feel like Oblivion's hard level scaling. I've yet to run into anything that felt like scaled bandit bullshit but it might be an issue.

Level 1-50 are individually, so are the skill levels. That can be done in a day if you know what you're doing. Champion points, that's basically extra levels on top of the old ones, are shared between characters.

yep. there is an edge case: if you want to play on both the EU and NA servers, if you bought the game as Gold, you get to use it on both, but crown store purchases are local to the server you purchased them on.

other options: with the discounts going on, it's less attractive, but most of the time, it's cheaper to just subscribe, which gets you a monthly 1500 crown stipend as well as the other benefits (unlimited crafting storage, access to all dlc).

used to be that you could buy a "60 day eso+ with 3000 crowns" game codes on keysites for 15 EUR, but it seems those are now all out of stock. best bang for buck, and if I knew it was going to run out I'd have stocked up. oh well.

The clanfear does physical damage so it would be better with a physical damage build and magika won't help any with melee or physical damage.

The clanfear also gives you a heal if you activate it again so it makes the twilight kinda useless. I think the twilight is for more of a healer role.

Unlike GW2 you can actually craft to profit if you have the right motifs (visual style) and/or can make the right sets. Because one of the meta sets is grindy bullshit like GW2's ascended - Twice Born Star (a set that lets you use two mundus stone bonuses at once) requires all traits for any piece you're making to be researched and filling out all nine traits is like several months of timegate (the final trait itself is 1 month). You only have to pass that timegate once to get all the traits but it's a hell of a wait the first time and it's why people will pay good money to anyone who can craft them sets so they don't have to bother.

So in a way it's kinda both. It's not overly complex like GW2's method of making a bunch of components and building armor/weapons out of those, it's pretty simple and straightforward and actually worth your time... but it also takes a long time to be a good crafter and unless you're an ESO+ member I really hope you like dedicating bank space or a mule to holding your mats because there isn't a free account-wide mat bank like in GW2.

I'm not exactly new but I'd like some thoughts on a few things: I've been playing on and off, mostly soloing and exploring, but reading through these threads I've taken an interest in doing dungeons and being a good DPS. Currently a Champion 110 MagSorc.

I'm fond of the Robes of the Hist set, and was thinking of crafting part Torug's Pact / Magnus' Gift / Armor of the Seducer. Should I wait until Champion 160 until crafting? That's the max level for armor, if I'm correct. Also, is mixing armor weights a problem?

Julianos is pretty cheap and Mother's Sorrow is pretty easy to farm. I use both. Just keep 1/2 heavy piece + boundless armor and if you still find yourself in trouble try defending trait and/or ward. You can also use clannfear for taunt/tank.

Depends on if Stam/Mag or if you're a tank or something. Honestly just looking at them should tell you if it's good or not - look for stuff that buffs your primary attribute and gives crit or weapon/spell damage. Hundings Rage for example is a great crafted armor for Stam characters, as is Julianos' Law for magicka types.

It is a problem unless you're a tank. Tanks sometimes take two pieces of medium so they can do some dodge-tank nonsense with the medium armor skill, but are mostly in heavy. If you're stam DPS you wear medium armor. If you're mag DPS you wear light. There's no real benefit to mixing for DPS classes.

Get food that buffs your health (and preferably, also your magicka or stam), learn tells, learn when to dodge, when to block, and what you can interrupt.

Real hypothetical talk for a moment.

How fucked would you be if ZOS decided to either severely nerf proc sets in PvP, or limit their use in some other way? How much gold tempers would you be out? How much time farming would you have wasted? How pissed would you be that you actually have to git gud again?

I'm asking, because ZOS has pretty much confirmed that proc sets will see changes "balancing" in PvP.

Craft a Julianos 5 piece, and 3 Torugs- keep the Torug's purple, you'll replace them quickly as you get a monster set/s

Use 5 Light, 1 Medium and Heavy for the Undaunted passive, 6% to all resources plus the 1-piece passives in each armor tree are nice [you'll need UD9 first though]

It's very simple and made to be done with your brain turned off. Scattering mage can changed with TBS, Julianos or any other decent set, maelstorm staff can be switched to any sharpened destro staff.

My bars looks as follow.

As you can see I've harden wards, bound aegis and inner light on all my bars. That's because I'm a lazy fuck who always want to have the option to cast harden ward without switching my bars. I can get trough pretty much all rounds up till the 8th by simply casting blockade, liquid and and use the lighting staff heavy attack and picking up glyphs since I don't give a fuck about the score.

Wow, my build and bars are pretty similar to yours but I'm using Julianos instead and not using the Grothdarr set, and I don't use bound aegis.

Blockade and liquid are both key abilities for me too but I usually drop them and just spam crushing shock + fragment. I couldn't imagine getting to the 8th round by just using blockade and liquid, but maybe it's easier if I use aegis and spam ward while doing it. I also have a flame staff not lightning though.

So you don't really have any healing like surge? it's not that big of a deal for you?

The lighting staff does mad dps against groups and synergies great with sorcs so I just round them up and let them sit in my aoe while recast harden ward when needed.

I've surge but it's on my overload bar. I use my overload bar primary as my buff bar. So every 15 sec I turn it on, use block to cancel the animation, recast any boundless storm and/or power surge, and turn it of. I make sure to cast surge before I use eye of the storm or run out of overload since 66 ulti is pretty easy to recover in the 32 secounds surge is active.

You do get mounts, there's like four different colors of horse you can buy, starting at 10K gold and going up to 40K, differences purely cosmetic. There's even a few pets you get from completing quests like the dwemer spider you get from completing a public dungeon in Bankorai.

Hard to say which race has the lowest pop, race doesn't really matter for pop - alliance does. Or did. Alliances still exist in PvP but don't much affect PvE anymore as anyone can go anywhere at any time now, so all of the game's pop has blended together and things are nice and active all over. Mostly, anyways, some zones are unpopular for one reason or another.

Very possible. Pick nightblade, put your points into stamina, grab a two handed weapon and sword out your problems. It's suboptimal in dungeons (where the meta is dual wielding), but it'll be fine for questing and is meta for PvP dick-ass thief ganking.

Argonians are alright for everything. Everyone self heals at some point, the potion passive is always useful and +9% health is no slouch.I also really enjoy the faster swimming but it's not a big deal.

Tanking isn't that hard for a newbie, just make sure you're taunting and using the class based damaged mitigation you have access to and you'll learn pretty quick

I'm not taking the DK healer out in vet until it's geared and with a guild or friends that will humor me, and definitely not in pugs. It's gone pretty well so far, but obsidian shard is the glitchiest motherfucking skill in the game. Excellent heal when it actually works though, as a ranged interrupt+BoL replacement.

If it was less unreliable and non-templars had a way of restoring stamina to groups I reckon there'd be a possibility to break the current precedent of templar-only healers.

I just want to make a bear-mode Nord with minimal armor that chops things for high damage, maybe with some "below x% health do y% more damage" passives to fit the theme. Two handed or dual axes, whatever works.

Based on the planners/calculators I'm looking at, Nightblade seems like the only non-magical class, and only one that fits the martial type.

You'll have a better time healing as a templar than any other class. NB healer was my first character at launch, but they got nerfed to the core of the planet for no good reason, and sorc healers only get one class based group heal in the form of an otherwise terrible pet that costs too much magicka and needs to be double barred. Pretty sure neither can get major mending without heavy attacks either.

I like my DK healer, but my templar makes everything run smoother.

Once you reach 50 and start gaining champion points, you will be able to do veteran version of dungeons. Veteran versions are the same as the normal versions except harder in one way or another, generally by enemies doing more damage, have more resistance, and bosses having attacks that will instantly kill you if not avoided.

So both Spindleclutch 1 and II have a normal and veteran version.

It is strongly advised to do the normal version before the veteran version so you have a slight idea about the mechanics.

I'm a nightblade and use bow and dual wield. At lvl 15 you gain an option to quickly switch weapons and skillslots with a hotkey, so my primary is bow secondary dual wield (daggers, swords, etc).

I usually use them as my instinct goes or depending on how lazy am I to move my hand an inch to switch weapons. But usually it's: start to attack enemies at ling distance with bow, keep them away, if they get too close I switch to DW.

pure magick sorcerers are most optimal with dual wielded swords for example. stamina templars are best with a bow.

you don't have to mix/max to do well in this game, but make sure your build makes sense and has a natural flow. I regularly duel people with CP 50-100 points higher than mine with my PvE build and win ~80% of the time.

Pick one, either you're using spells or you're using weapons for dps.

Some of your class skills will have stamina and magicka morphs.

A small bit of advice, murder-kun. Each NPC has three items on them, you can only get all three by pickpocketing them at least twice and the third can either be pickpocketed as well (though the chances on this are going to be much lower) or murdering them. Just running up to them and killing them is inefficient.

It depends on the mark and your pickpocketing skill (well it's not really a skill I guess, your.. passive? That sounds weird to call it that). Each mark has a designated type, like "noble" or "drunk" or "soldier", I'm sure you've noticed, and some are more alert than others. Drunks for example are very, very easy to get a 100% chance on to the point where the worst your chances can be at max pickpocket is a 95% on the third/final pickpocket.

That said, I'm not sure but I -think- the harder targets are more likely to give green/blue loot, though I have looted that from drunks as well. Targeting peasants in a reverse-robinhood sort of way could be a good way of minimizing your bounty. Bounties also decay MUCH faster when you're logged in - so logging out and shelving a character until their bounty is gone is a poor way to deal with it unless you wanted to do something on a different character anyways.
