What would be the optimal SL for invading in Farron Keep, and maybe the Catacombs? SL35 with a +6 weapon, or SL40 with +5?

So, I know I'm late to the party, but:

I bought all three Dark Souls games this year. I played through all of 1 and 2, and started Dark Souls 3 today.

1 hour into playing, I've been invaded three times, first guy had a the ability to turn invisible and backstab, second guy had all Thorns armor and seemingly infinite rolls, and the third guy had armor that made him look like a walnut and was teleporting all over the room as if he had a shitty internet connect.

I never encountered a single hacker in all my time playing DS 1 and DS 2. Should I even bother with multiplayer in 3? Or has hacking completely destroyed the game already?

Hackers are everywhere in each new DaS game on the mustard.
In DaS1 you could punish them easily enough with smart play in a lot of cases, though they could pull shit like perma-curse you or reduce your SL to 1.
In DaS2 and 3 you're just fucked and are going to have to put up with it.

The online play in DaS3 is total shit though, you're not missing anything. The game itself is pretty average.

Invisibility is a connection based issue. Just as people sliding through the area without animations or they being able to hit you but you being unable to hit them, or vice versa.
3's connectivity is fast as fuck but at the same time the online of 3 is really bad.

Item upgrades give you more AR on your weapons than leveling your attack stats. In the beginning, focus on getting the base level requirements for the weapon you want to use and then prioritize upgrades over attack stats (STR / DEX). Early on you want to focus on leveling VIG (HP) .

God I hate this game some times

Grind through it AGAIN for like the 30th time to get to 120, finally get to do some pvp with the dragonslayer's greataxe only to find out that it's garbage.

Listed as 700 damage, does like 400 on average, sometimes 550 ish if you're lucky. Still takes 3-4 or more hits to kill. Slow as fuck, special that you can never ever it with because everyone just backs up the second it starts. Even with 30 poise you get staggered constantly and rarely break anyone else's poise. You can't even attack through some shithead spamming a rapier. Seriously, if someone has a rapier and isn't an idiot with it, you'll never ever win. The can stab you once as you wind up, dodge and stab you again in the cool down. It's retarded. And their tiny ass poke can stagger you out of a swing even in heavy armor.

So great, now I get to go run this AGAIN just to fucking make a character that might not suck in pvp. I'm so fucking tired of making characters only to have to bash my head against the broken meta shitters and scrape my way to gold via the most boring tactics.

FromSoft tries to balance their weapons so that scenarios where players on roughly equal soul / weapon level don't one-shot each other with the exception of crits like parries and they actually aim for the 3-4 hits being the minimum it takes to kill someone in regular combat.

Thats it. I'm done. I'm so fucking sick of this game. There's nothing left to do in single player and pvp is utter and complete garbage.

1. Massive lag and phantom range that has remained completely unchanged for 4 fucking games. Thanks at least in part to the game linking you up with every cunt in Niger and Brazil who teleports around and hits you from 40 feet away while dodging through every attack you make.

2. Horribly unbalanced meta garbage where some weapons and builds are hugely better than others. Wanna play a fun weapon? Fuck you play one of the 5 good ones or prepare to get shit on constantly. I hope you like running katana attacks, passive strength builds, parry spam/hornet rings, and watching people run in fucking circles over and over before doing a running attack! Because thats literally all there is.

3. The system is fucking even more broken by the fact that certain actions are nearly impossible to punish. Drinking estus, firing a crossbow, etc. Not to mention that people can roll so fast and so often that you can if you focus on dodging you will NEVER be hit by anything except lagging attacks. Even the fastest weapons can't hit someone if they just stand around and dodge. It means that once you get someone down to low health they can just wait out the clock by dodging and unless you get lucky enough to hit via network fuckery, you can't do anything about it.

4. And last but not least, the fucking community. This community is the most fucking cancerous, try hard, smug, shithead community I've ever been in. Literally 75% of the people I fight against are some cancerous meme spouting shithead. Look at this image. This is the community. A community full of people named "Hitler did nothing wrong" doing running washing pole attacks. A community full of people doing sarcastic emotes to invoke transitory annoyance in strangers in the hope they might get an angry message, because apparently that's what people do now.
