If you check warcraft logs or similar you'll see big variance between top and less skilled Spriests, that mainly comes down to their ability to fully utilize Surrender to Madness. It's not so much that Shadow DPS (that is single target raid DPS) is shit without it, it's just broken good with it when played well.

Consider that when you're hitting a dummy you're missing raid buffs, food, flask, etc also.

To all Frost DK's. I'm trying to figure out the stat priorities to shoot for, but all the info I can find are based on the Machine Gun spec which was nerfed recently. At the moment while raiding I'm usually using RA/GA and Avalanche. What should a 1/7 Mythic "raider" be aiming for at around 875ilvl. I don't think Blizz has 'solved' the escort quest but I don't agree that anything in Azsuna compares to this quest in terms of escort tediousness. Honestly as long as you don't have downs syndrome you aren't going to struggle tanking on Pally or Bear. Neither are reactive or self healing tanks. There's very little pressure on you to do anything but keep your core rotational spells on cooldown and put your cooldowns on cooldown when it is appropriate.

Do you like the idea of playing a warrior of the Light or a fucking Bear more? Because both Druid and Pally can fill melee DPS, tank and healer rolls. There's not a lot in this besides flavour considerations. It's not like you're thinking of playing a reactive tank like a Blood DK or a Vengeance DH, or a Brewmaster tank like a Brewmaster.

You're not going to get mechanically easier while tanking than Pally or Bear.
