They are good enough in terms of core gameplay, character and map design, feedback, etc. Yeah some tech issues and lack of testing, but nothing so big to really blame except netcode. But for me it's hard to say is it just bad code or shitty server infrastructure renting by Ubi.

Severe lack of testing - self explanatory

Severe lack of foresight - ties into testing, but there are times where they have done something that had obvious and significant repercussions that have had to go in and unfuck with the next patch. Had they loaded up a single match to see if the feature was working as intended, they would realize it's not. Instead they have a compile and push it live mentality.

Severe lack of game design expertise beyond the core game - from the fact we still only have 3 game modes that are fairly the same even 1 year later, to operators being objectively shit from almost day 1 and common sense suggestions would make them at-least usable... but never being implemented.

There are many things wrong with this game, and they are playing it too safe. While this has netted them a bigger audience than something like The Division, it will never grant them a fuck huge audience because the experience is stagnant and what *is* here isn't being utilized to it's maximum potential to stave off boredom.

Why is hibana so fucking ugly? I can't believe they just kinda changed ugly brazillian chicks face.

If you want a practical example of this, the update about fixing arm damage is exactly this. They spent all this time hypothesizing and coming to the conclusion that arm hitboxes are detracting from the experience of the game - so they came up with a fix.

They either then failed to remember that the arm is also the only thing exposed on the shield operators... Or just didn't care. So these two OP's that were already the lowest picked characters in the game, and the community identifies as being shit - are now going to receive significantly more forward facing damage.

So they decided to address an issue, which then compounds an already existing issue and making it worse for 2 + 1 of the characters in the game. Instead of coming up with a solution to fix the pre-existing problem shield users face which will now be amplified post patch - they decided to play it "safe" and wait until they could come up with a "good" solution, and in this case playing it safe meaning having multiple characters that are not ever worth playing.

It was either that, or they simply failed to realize how disproportionately shield users will be affected by the patch. Either of these scenarios is unacceptable as it demonstrates a lack of care put into these patches, or a level of incompetence that shouldn't even have been hired at a AAA studio. Both cases are unacceptable.

Yes, because in a game where we now have 30 characters, if only about half of them are truly worth playing, the meta becomes stagnant. The more possible combinations of operators, the meta increases exponentially. The meta becomes good. Strategies become more diverse. It's multiplicative. The difference in meta between having lets say 6 characters worth playing, and 10 characters worth playing, is way more than just double.

Because shield users are just shit, we don't have shield users anymore. Which means defenders don't often save C4 to deal with Blitz, Fuze and Monty. That entire thought process of "what if's" while playing the match is mostly gone. But if shield users were too strong and appears in every single match, we would end up with people choosing C4 based operators to deal with them. You gotta find the balance.

I'm constantly getting shot in the face around corners by people I literally cannot see. My ping is normal. I know people are going to point out it's always been that way, but I swear it's way more often than it ever has been before.
