It was my first AC. Nowadays its outdated, and since the big drive of the game was going online or visiting towns of people in real life its probably got a void that'll be hard to fill. Its also the only game that has all four characters sharing one house which I don't think it was that great an idea. You can play around and have fun with it but I'd take new leaf nowadays

The mushrooms are the biggest pain, and the diving is also kind of annoying. Thonky has more accurate numbers in terms of "maximum of a thing I'll need" by the way, and since you have to fish to get sugar and shit from villagers, you probably want to save the fishing for the day of.

I used Melba, Margie, and Savannah for nearly all of them. For a couple ones with stupid pathways I swapped Margie for Flo so I could take shortcuts.

Whimsy villagers (like Melba) are insanely good at everything, they have an absurdly high chance to win against any enemy even without a slingshot (This even includes tougher ones like Scorpions, Tarantulas, and Toxic snakes.) They also have a low chance to get stung by bees without a net (however the chance to ruin the honey is higher.) Honestly their only drawback is that they have a chance to sometimes not do anything, because when their turn starts, you roll a spinner full of 7s and 0s. Get a 7, move 7 spaces. Get a 0, their turn ends.

Fearless villagers (like Margie) are the only kind that can clear rocks as far as I know, which means more bonus points and more pathways to help your other villagers. They also have a higher chance to win fights when compared to other villagers. Their only drawback is that they're bad at fleeing fights and only move 3 spaces per turn.

Hearty Travelers (like Savannah) are good if you want to cover more ground in a single turn. They can move 6 spaces per turn, and are amazing at fleeing fights. Their only problem is that they aren't very good fighters, and they have a sight range of 0, so they don't clear any fog around adjacent spaces when they move. However, if you set them to be your third villager, this downside is practically negated.

When it comes to tools, I usually prioritized making a shovel first, and I never made a fishing rod unless I had nothing to lose. But when you get to the later levels, the golden fishing rod is actually incredibly useful, because it allows you to fish items off of spaces that are far away.

Also, don't forget you can manipulate the spinner, it's not random. Just press A when you see the arrow cross over what you want. (In most cases, just press A when you see it cross over a red space.)

Look at the top left and right. Wasted space. To a lesser extent, your entire map is also wasted narrow space. The space between your town plaza and the river is also narrow wasted space.

Can you even think about where you would put neat places? Your villager houses would all be in one boring row or it'll be too cramped to walk through.

just pass and get something with more open space (Basically any river that doesn't start that high and only turns 1 or 2 times with some exceptions).

Also that town hall was blocking your RV campsite entrance, not good. Otherwise the plaza and town hall entrance is a matter of preference. Some people like the town hall in the center or at least right under the town hall. ITs original spot at the bottom right might be acceptable to some people if it had the RV entrance right next to it.

it's fine. i feel that a good layout is important for ease of access and town design. here's the layout i chose. the right side and top right look a little tight, but villagers have moved their houses there before, plus the retail is right next to the dock, and the plaza and town hall are both pretty centralized and/or near the train station. plus, with a few designs, no one has pinched my house
