Right now there is a decision to rename New Zealand's provinces if you pursue it, but it was previously bugged due to a generic British event overriding it, but that has been fixed now.

Aside from that though, there are not too many places to rename, aside from maybe a few provinces in Quebec.

As for Pied-Noirs, they are currently removed since Vicky 2's mechanics are difficult to work with. I may in the future re-add them, but using a similar template to the Neo-Zelandais settler decision, allowing you to settle French people into Algeria which would turn them into Pied-Noirs.

That's actually a good point. Peasants are always the main player in revolutions (wether commanded by an elite or not), and them wanting to revoke certain reforms makes absolutely no sense.

I think I messed up. Earlier I accidentally inherited the Karling kingdoms as duke of Holland, formed the kingdom of Frisia and made that my main title.
Then I changed the succession law in Frisia from Agnatic Gavelkind to Agnatic-Cognatic Seniority, and subsequently formed the Empire of Francia with the same laws. My heir is a nephew via a sister, so he is the next-most-senior member of the dynasty according to Agnatic-Cognatic succession, but he isn't eligible at all according to Agnatic Gavelkind.

Does this mean that if I die, my nephew will rule an empire made up of Kingdoms that are all ruled by some other guy not of my dynasty? He will obviously try to overthrow me at that point! I guess if I have a son (or sons) myself, he (they) will become the heir to the various kingdoms other than Frisia, and be next in line for the emperor title after my nephew. That wouldn't be so bad as long as they don't fight each other too much, because all the titles will eventually trickle back up to the most senior member of the dynasty, and anyone holding them would be in the line of succession.

France is another matter because while everything was crazy and I was weak, some faction forced me to change the succession to elective. I nominated my heir to it but nobody is voting for him. Fighting for one out of like six kingdoms every time there is a succession wouldn't be so bad, I guess. It just all goes to shit if I die before having a son myself. Though, if I live long enough, I can just change the succession laws anyway.

I disagree. Want to know why? Because it affects things that have no connection to each other at the same time and forces choices between them, it encourages 'click-and-bonus' as opposed to long-term investment, it allows you to 'save up' instead of investing, and it has too much dependency on the ruler alone who is pure RNG.
EU3 sliders took into account the ruler but were also a far more logical way of implementing investment into X area, they were more consistent in what was affected, and they didn't encourage clicking to get a bonus.
You can't just call everything an abstraction to make it automatically okay, especially when said abstraction is a pile of blank cheques that you can retcon into saying 'oh yeah we were working on X for three years haha' on matters completely unrelated to the name.

Mana gets far too little shit for what it is, if it got about a dozen times more shit maybe Paradox would finally fix one of the two hardcoded flaws that hold EU4 back from being amazing.

In HPM, it says that Muhammad Ali's Reforms gives -40% research modifier and lasts until the end of the game. Is that WAD? That doesn't sound like a decision I'd want to use.

By August 1941 Unternehmen Barbarossa was well underway. With neither side able to break the stalemate neutral Sweden and Switzerland brokered a ceasefire between the Axis and Allies. Neither side was satisfied with the results of the treaty - Hitler himself being vehemently it's signing. The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 saw Allied dominance over Japan and the Far East. While the German economy is booming thanks to the spoils of war, the Italian and Vichy economies are tanking. Economists are doubtful as to the continued German economic success, seemingly reliant on military conquest.

Have almost completed this goal so far and it is year 1200 in my CK2 campaign, the 769 start is way too easy for Byzantium. My capital is still Constantinople, but I could move it to Rome, though it is too far from the east I think. Any ideas on what to do? I have mended the great schism and reformed Rome, I am thinking about trying to make a Russian buffer state as my powerful kings have started blobbing into the muslim controlled eastern europe, so I may just grand the new king independence. Any thoughts?

Since 2.4, you can raid if you fulfill one of the three conditions below. The tooltip "Rulers can raid infidel neighbors for loot" is in fact incorrect. You can raid anyone who is not your liege, your vassal or your tribute/suzerain. If your vassal raids you, you can imprison him without tyranny. This is more significant in nomadic realms; in 2.5, nomad vassal clans may raid within their liege's realm, where previously, they can only raid each other if engaged in a feud.

Allowed to raid:

Culture: Norse (not other North Germanic), all Altaic, Hungarians (Magyar)
Also Nahua/Aztec, if you use Ruler Designer or convert after the Sunset Invasion arrives
Religion: Pagan or Hindu
Government: Tribal or Nomadic.
If you're a vassal, the "government type" requirement checks both your government type and your liege's government type. Both must allow raiding; culture and religion can allow raiding in any form of government, independent or not.

For example, Catholic Norwegian Feudal cannot raid, but Catholic Norwegian Tribal, Germanic Norwegian Feudal and Catholic Norse Feudal can raid. Also, Anglo-Saxon tribes under the Petty Kingdom of Northumbria in 769 cannot raid unless they become independent, but Swedish Pagan tribes under the Catholic king of Sweden in 1066 can raid, provided they stay Pagan.

Vassals don't mind if their troops are raised for looting (only while sieging). Vassals will be angry for each 60 days when their troops is moving or when their troops are looting free loots after all holdings have been sacked.

To raid, simply set troops into raiding mode by clicking the "Toggle Raiding" button. This may only be done in friendly territory. Armies containing mercenaries cannot raid.

Pagans can raid regardless of whether their religion is reformed or not.

so i'm at a crossroads /gsg/. early in my playthrough I decided to become the vassal of the byzantine empire and just sort of sit back and watch.

then the aztecs invaded and conquered Francian Spain and Aquitaine, and now i'm worried that the 10k+ troops I have are wasted with the basileous when combined with francia and italy (and the various family members i've managed to get duchies in italy) we almost have enough troops to actually match up against the aztecs and push them out of europe.

On the other hand if the aztecs decide not to finish francia off and go for part of italy, maybe i can help the basileous reclaim enough italian dirt that the empire can be reformed. I don't know if I can manage to become the basileous (I'd need to get probably another kingdom level title and somehow make that my primary while not also making it a republic - and then get rid of the serene republic title on some other galbaio.

so /gsg/, what should I do. watching has been fun but i'm worried that if I don't take proactive steps that the aztecs will finish off francia and italy before they run out of steam, and it'll be impossible to push them out of europe forever.

The AI used to at least pretend to not know the location of your units now they snake about and run away, obviously reading your inputs to a ridiculous degree. They also seem to just ignore your forts under weird circumstances. I think the son of the Duke of Burgundy in 769 is pretty fun. Pretty sure he's Duke of Toulouse of the house Nibelunging, as in the Nibelungingleid, which is why I first played him.

Actually was badass. Set up a Cathar Kingdom of Aquitaine, married my way in to becoming King of Middle Francia. Lots of court intrigues and an interesting dynasty. I think the court intrigues among Charlemagne's folk are what makes the 769 start playable, really.

COM just makes the map look a lot better, no gameplay additions. DAO is the same but with minor additions and Turkwankery. D&T is pretty well made but seriously bloated and went full meme towards the end, I haven't really played MEIOU but as far as I know it's just a well made mod. Miscmods is a minor overhaul, pretty decent if you're sick of vanilla.

WAMMO or EU3+ also works, and if you want a proper meme mod try History and Empires.

I wanna know all this because I'm thinking of making a meme mod which just adds a cb for "make substate" that you can even use on GPs; a requirement for being a GP would then be that you can't be a substate, so they can't break free. The cb would also require that the victim has no colonies though, among other things that I'll consider later.
