I don't agree with Himawari not getting an 18+ release, but you're retarded if you think it is in any way equivalent to what happened with G-Senjou.
Himawari's release is based off of an exclusively all-ages re-release of Himawari with new (better) art and full voice acting. There is no 18+ version of this in existence, and there never will be.
G-Senjou was an 18+ only game (even in Japan) that was cropped to make it "widescreen" and had its sex scenes removed entirely, with no substitute (CGs) and by the US publisher (although it seems likely that akabei soft pushed for the all-ages only release themselves, given the Sharin Kickstarter).
Neither release is ideal, but they are not comparable when it comes to cut content.

I actually played both of their routes through all three games. Took just over a week or so? I was pretty constantly playing though.

I'd say Mint's routes are more dynamic and amusing (as Mint is a more dynamic character than Vanilla, who never really stops being stoic), but some of Vanilla's scenes are hard to beat, like the one where Tact proposes to her.

Basically, after Tact is forced to shoot her ship down Vanilla's nanomachines start acting on her unconscious fears and desires, often going berserk and attacking people, particularly Tact. Vanilla feels so bad about this that she leaves the ship.

Tact manages to resolve this eventually, and the nano machines stop attacking him but then her nano machines start attacking everyone else who gets close to Tact, as Vanilla is so worried about losing Tact again that she's subconsciously trying to keep everyone away from him to keep him and their relationship secure.

Tact fixes this by proposing to her, which reassures her and turns the nanomachines back into their pet form. It's pretty cute overall.

Her ship requires little to no micromanagement, she does solid damage, and her special ability is absolutely retarded (oh yes full HP and Fuel restore to every other Angel on the map? sure why not that's not broken as fuck)

I kinda feel that Mint needs affection to actually function as a decent unit. When her morale and affection is high, she can wipe out a whole fleet in an attack run. When it's not, she seems kind of useless compared to, say, Ranpha.

Ever played Homeworld? Very similar to that.

Instead of levels or upgrades though, the Angels are affected by affection and morale. Affection is how much they like you, and serves as their levels. As it goes up or down, their permanent strength increases and decreases. Morale is a temporary boost, based on your actions and events in the chapter.

Lategame, a low affection/low morale angel will be lucky to take down a single basic enemy, whereas a max affection/morale angel can wipe out whole fleets.

Just so we're clear, even in other routes the drama is nigh on nonexistant. It's just, in Umi's route there isn't even an attempt at forcing drama. Cake's route was the best bar none though, it's incredibly rare that a vn has a cake heroine who's not a token one-off milf scene. Also don't press the 3P button until you're done with all of the main routes.

The best thing about Vanilla and Milphy is that they don't really have a weak point. they'll do fine even if you're not in their routes.
Ranpha is incredibly fragile, Mint is kinda slow, Forte is really fucking slow and Chitose sucks at everything even if you're in her route.

I find Ranpha, Milfeulle and Vanilla to always be pretty solid. With a bit of micromanagement, the Kung-Fu Fighter is fast enough to dodge almost all attacks, and always does decent to great damage.

Mint's only real notable thing is her special, which is the only easily aimed AoE attack in the game. But you really need to be on her route for it to have the damage to be effective.

The Happy Trigger, however can suck a dick. I've literally never seen that thing perform well. It's slow, it's armor isn't nearly as effective as the barrier Vanilla has and it doesn't have enough firepower to justify being so slow and fragile (because it can't dodge shit, meaning it takes almost every shot, completely negating it's armor value compared to every other Emblem).
