I doubt it will be the tactic game, that was just a poll I doubt they even thought about seriously making it. They wouldn't bother hyping people up so much for a thing like that after the ending of Trespasser.

Also the tower/chess thing is related to Inquisition: Solas and Bull play a game of mental chess (foreshadowing Fen'Harel vs Qunari and explaining Solas' logic) and his last non-romanced card is The Tower.

Guys I'm playing Tyranny, but it's the third time I just turned the game off because I was about to head into combat, and the combat is painfully boring. Like, not hard, just long and tedious.

I'm not expecting much of the story, but I'm a big fan of Black Company and Malazan Book of the Fallen, and the setting of this game seems to draw heavily from at least one of those(and since the former inspired the latter, it's hard to tell which), so that's enough to keep me interested.

Plus, I gotta appreciate a game where I can just walk up to a woman who wronged me, punch her in the gut without saying anything, and have her reward me with a sword for not being a pushover.

Have you played Pillars of Eternity? It's a lot more BG-like than Tyranny is and it's the better of the two obsidian CRPGs in my opinion, especially after all the patches and content updates. It also doesn't really have that kind of political writing in it.

Hey guys, I'm playing through DA:O for the first time. If I want the game to be a challenge, should I play on Hard or Nightmare? My ideal difficulty is "as hard as possible, without being able to accidentally ruin my entire playthrough because I built my character wrong due to vague tooltips not telling me what I'm investing into." I find the rumors that Obsidian is making the next Fallout somewhat concerning, considering their recent track record. Tyranny has been out for like one week and discussion is already dying out, Avellone is gone, and I couldn't even finish PoE

FO4 looked boring as shit. I've inadvertently ended up watching several hours of it being played and it wasn't really my bag. People loved NV though, and Obsidian did that or am I getting things mixed up?

At this point I wouldn't mind if Obsidian disbanded, they've made two of my favorite games (New Vegas and MotB), but it's obvious they have serious issues. They constantly badmouth publishers they work with, their games always get cancelled, their employees re-join and leave all the time, combat is usually a slog in their games, and they rely way too much on their writing which is getting progressively worse. I tried my best to enjoy Pillars but I was so disappointed and Tyranny is a joke.

I had a lot of respect for Obsidian but that's all gone now. Their games are now "pirate or ignore" tier to me, they do not deserve my money.

Coming back to a time where all of these people exist and mages aren't allowed to thrive, or even tortured for their existence (ie: the Qunari, the super aggressive circle towers). Started DA:I recently. Went in pretty much completely blind.

I started with the game on "Normal" because it's been forever since I'd played the original Dragon Age and I figured I'd be a bit rusty on the systems, but I'm at a point where I've hit eighth level and the tactical camera almost feels superfluous for how little use I've had to give it. I feel like I'm basically autoresolving fights.

If I bump things up to hard will that improve the experience of the fights at all or is the game just supposed to be this easy?

It's not meant to even the playing field, in fact he says many times that certain builds and characters will be a lot better than others. The intention was to make every stat useful in some way which means that:

1) Non-traditional characters are viable, even if they aren't the best. That way you can stat to a character concept/roleplay without worrying about viability. This is also why stats in pillars feed into conversation skills more heavily than say Charisma in BG.

2) More diverse range of character builds -- do I want a wizard focused on disabling with long crowd control duration? Do I want a straight up damage dealing nuker? Do I want to shore up his defensive stats so I can play him in close range and use his pbaoes and cones? Of course they aren't equally powerful, but they all work and can be fun.

3) Makes character building more involved and thoughtful compared to traditional D&D style systems where there is basically one explicit good stat for your class and everything else is totally useless and meant to be dumped.

I think the main failing is that they weren't weighted very heavily (1 might = 3% damage, barely noticeable), but I still thought it was decent and had fun building my character and with some iteration in Pillars 2 the system could be even better. I like the theory and the intent behind it, even if the execution wasn't perfect.

Also I don't think it's fair to judge the combat for that, that is a failing of the XP system and not the combat system and doesn't have any bearing on whether the actual minute to minute gameplay of the combat was well designed or not.

To me that seems more like map or encounter design. When we're talking about a combat system I think it's more like the actual mechanics of combat, how you play it, and the way abilities and classes and stats interact with each other and things like that.
