I went to buy some games and, dang, everything is expensive. Most first party games are all $40 - $60 while the third party ones are all used (and still rather expensive).

Splatoon General is dead? Oh well. Did the amiibo boom die? I went to my local Gamestop and was easily able to find a bunch of amiibo. Rosalina, Daisy, Wario, the newer Splatoon trio, etc. I only brought one amiibo but I was surprised to see so many amiibo.

Hyrule Warriors just gets bonus items, with special weapon unlocks for Zelda related Amiibo.

Yoshi's Wooly World and Mario Kart only unlock skins

I'm not really sure which other games even use Amiibo, their functionallity is so forgettable.

It's getting more common thanks to the implementation of the NNID system.

I downloaded an EU code and I don't understand how this is supposed to teach anyone without a "story mode" of some kind with guided lessons in addition to what you already have. I already know katakana so I was able to do the sound game but if I didn't know it I don't see how a chart and then the sound game would be enough for me to learn.

Also, there are a few quality of life improvements likie after finishing a game being taken to the newest level instead of needed to scroll from the top down each time. And being bale to move with the d-pad instead of stick. The option have everything solely off the gamepad would be welcome too.

This was something I wanted to QoL add, but the build was already with nintendo and we were already behind schedule, so I decided to keep it in. To my dismay, it's proving a bigger nuisance. I can see also why the DPad would have been good as a moving tool, also. I'll put those on my update list.

As for a story mode, we were actually saving that for when we had the vocabulary. The dev time for the game was small due to the Switch dated to be released. By the time we had it done, the Switch would have been already out, so this is us simply saving time as a base kana teaching game.

The chart is just for reference, but the game tells you your mistakes, is fast, and gets you straight into recognition.

A story mode or guided lesson works better for something like vocabulary because it's made up of multiple characters, and some vocabulary has different versions, such as verbs. Oh man, explaining verbs is like an entire chapter of Genki, too.

When you attack the right log a ninja will be defeated, otherwise you will attack a log and the hidden ninja will attack you ending the game.

In easy mode ninja should be obvious to attack. Maybe change the other two to kimono girls or villagers/samurai/lords/monks so they won't get attacked.

As a beginner I don't know the best way to learn but for starters having your characters break it down like saying "This character is X it sounds like Y and is used in example words like Z." You can probably use information you already have when pressing a character on the chart page and present it differently to make it more of a lesson rather than an overwhelming chart. That is the challenge with learning games. If you make it too fun then the game is more the focus than the learning like some of those Mavis Beacon games. I think right now the sound game isn't interesting enough to make me want to play it over the learning aspect so that might be good or bad. The game could be more fun and with the right balance encourage me to want to practice while still keeping it a learning experience.

Hey /ninty/, I have a problem with my 3DS. It thinks that either the circle pad or the D-pad is being held up+left when nothing is being pressed, making everything unplayable. I plan to disassemble it and try to clean underneath whatever is causing the problem, but I don't know if it's the D-pad or the circle pad.

If I hold down or right on the D-pad, it stops. But holding down on the circle pad doesn't make it stop. However, I can't calibrate the circle pad from the settings menu.

Is it the circle pad that's fucked up? If this doesn't work I'll just buy a new 3DS, been wanting to upgrade to an XL anyway.
